Do you have children? How old are you? Were you overweight as a child? What does a normal day's food look like?
Thanks for being open OP.

No I have no children

I’m 52

yes I was overweight as a child

up to a week ago a ‘normal day’s food was overeating high salt / fat / sugar processed snacks but in the past week - since Thursday 7th - I’ve been on a strict calorie controlled diet of approx 1000 cals a day

youre welcome - I enjoy being open 😊

doodleschnoodle · 13/08/2025 17:32

Have you tried losing weight before? If so, what’s going to be different about this time? What’s motivated you to try this time?

Yes I’ve lost weight several times before .

in my early 30s I went down from over 15 stone to 7 and a half stone

What’s different about this time is that I DESPERATELY want to do it. It’s very hard though - psychologically. This week has absolutely dragged. My weigh in is tomorrow

Why are you restricting yourself to 1000 calories a day? It doesn’t sound sustainable to me.

I’ve been in a calorie deficit since 1st June, averaging 1400 cals a day. This allows little treats like a couple of squares of dark chocolate and decent sized portions so I don’t feel deprived.

im eating good food like poached egg on toast for breakfast, a jacket potato with beans and cheese and a side salad for lunch, spag bol, veggie chilli with nachos and rice, sausage a mash, a roast etc for dinner.

fwiw I am 5’4, SW 10st 8 (1lb into the overweight category) and I’ve lost over a stone. (Approx 1-2lb a week).

1400 does indeed sound more sensible m

Well done @GeorgeSalad for making a start. Ever lb you lose will benefit you healthwise and I think you will gets lots of support on here to stick with it if you want/need it.
It can be done, as my friend lost 5 stone in 10 months and has kept the majority of it off for over 2 years now. She feels so much better and reversed her T2 diabetes too.
If you can get out for even a short walk and track your steps/calories then it will show you how hard those calories are to burn and it motivates you to not eat them back.
I'm small like you so need to be careful what I eat.
Good luck x

Interesting.

Im 5ft 8 and weight about 13 10. I’m a 16, but you’re 7” smaller than me.

I think if I wear a 16 it’s vanity sizing 16 if I’m honest - my coat is actually a 20 - but I literally have got to the stage where I wear ANYTHING I’ve got in the house that fits

DiscoBob · 13/08/2025 17:45

What did you eat daily before your diet? ( Breakfast, lunch, dinner etc)

And what does your daily diet look like now?

How much weight have you lost so far?

Thank you! X
