Following on from our epic first thread I had a breast reduction

We are a group of ladies who have breast reductions for a number of reasons and are all at different stages of recovery.

I had a breast reduction AMA | Mumsnet

I had a breast reduction two weeks ago. I’ve gone from a 34GG/H to a 34D. Crack on with any questions!

It happens naturally, because they take away a couple of kg of fat.
you wait till you see the markings the surgeon does. I took a pic of mine.

there’s also the nape to nipple (is that right) measurement. Think mine was ? 27 before?

By the way, does anyone find themselves want to tell strangers just to have it done? Of course I don’t, but I feel like it! Gorgeous glam woman here at the pub. I know she’s dressing to flatter and I want to evangelise

Singletrackmind · 20/10/2023 17:14

Of course you do! @RedWineIsFine

Madagascary · 20/10/2023 17:14

Yes “nipple to sternal notch “ 27.5 😳

RedWineIsFine · 20/10/2023 17:32

Dressing to hide rather than dressing to flatter is my norm!
My letter from 5 years ago says nipple to sternal notch 31 and 32cm, I'll be honest I don't know what that means though.

RedWineIsFine · 20/10/2023 17:34

Ah, just looked it up, basically it means I've got massive droopy boobs.

😂uh huh! My boobs were just horribly saggy … that measurement was 28… now 19/20 😀…

Sorry. Yes
and I didn’t realise how lopsided mine were either

Madagascary · 20/10/2023 20:26

Oh my God, apparently the distance between your nipples should match the distance between your ears

I'm so glad I've found this thread, I keep having moments where I think it's in my head and I'm exaggerating, then someone says how bad theirs are and mine are worse 😂 this is hugely encouraging!

thelonghaul · 20/10/2023 21:51

Going under the knife tomorrow. Thanks for sharing so much info. Its really helped take me from freaked/what was i thinking, to quiet determination and optimism, with a little pragmatism thrown into the mix.
Wish me luck.

RedWineIsFine · 20/10/2023 22:04

Hope all goes well @thelonghaul, just keep your eye on that end goal.

Singletrackmind · 20/10/2023 22:12

@thelonghaul good luck! You’ll be fine & that was exactly my thought process as I got closer to the day. Let us know when you come out the other side.

Martinisarebetterdirty · 21/10/2023 07:06

Good luck @thelonghaul, remember take it easy afterwards. Also I came out of it thinking I had nothing, they are fluffed up again and whilst I wish I had less these probably suit my frame better. Remember to take photos marked up!
@RedWineIsFine my measurement was 35 - I said to my guy I wanted to scoop them up and flatten them and he said that I’d never get them where I wanted without an implant because they start low down so there are limits to how high they can go. Obviously I didn’t want an implant! I don’t have a new measurement because I like them now and I no longer need to know more things that justify me hating them (if that makes sense). I have photos on my phone of them pre surgery and I feel a bit sick if I look at them, can’t believe I left it so long to do this.

Weatherwax13 · 22/10/2023 03:41

Surgery tomorrow. Yikes. Wasn't worrying too much till DD asked me how I was feeling about it last night and since then I'm a bundle of nerves!
Just about to pack my overnight bag. Leaving at 6.00am tomorrow (Australia time) and surgeon said I'll be going into theatre an hour after arrival so I'm thankful I won't be waiting around.
I'll update afterwards.

MorrisZapp · 22/10/2023 08:46

Oh good luck weatherwax!

I had a small win in asdas yesterday. Found the most utterly gorgeous underwire bra made from dark blue mesh material with little stars on it, very similar to the kind of stuff that John Lewis do but comfier and prettier.

Why yes, they do have it in my size. Six quid please and it fits beautifully. Weekend made ❤️

thelonghaul · 22/10/2023 09:50

Done although still woozy post surgery. It was a long night but no pain. Yet, anyway. Drains about to be taken out.

They are sooooo much smaller. And perkier. My surgeon looks quite pleased with himself. 😀

Singletrackmind · 22/10/2023 12:20

@thelonghaul Yay! well done you ... rest, relax, don't do anything other than take it easy. It's a big op ... @Weatherwax13 Hello! hope it goes well down under
@Martinisarebetterdirty totally get you ... it's such an adjustment, I really am only now starting to feel comfortable/ more relaxed about the shape, size etc. Agree on the before pics, not least because it was a view of me I never really allowed myself or anyone else for that matter to look at. I'm embarrassed by them. I have my 3 month check on the 1st Nov ... are you seeing your guy again?

Singletrackmind · 22/10/2023 12:21

@MorrisZapp cheap underwear ... total win , still blows my mind😀

Martinisarebetterdirty · 22/10/2023 13:09

Seeing mine on 11 December @Singletrackmind , they are a bit wonky so he wanted to give them a bit of time to settle and then we might talk revisionary surgery. Which I suppose is to be expected given the radiotherapy, hard to know how that one would heal and fluff out. I’m still slapping on the moisturiser and the silicon though, and back to sleeping on my front which I am trying to get out of doing, don’t want to squish them! 😂 Good luck on 1st!
Good luck @Weatherwax13 and congrats @thelonghaul .

Singletrackmind · 22/10/2023 15:34

Ah yeah @Martinisarebetterdirty that makes sense... and still settling for sure especially with all you & your boobies have gone through. Sleeping on your front though😬. .. I've been pinned flat on my back since the start 😂and just occasionally wake a bit turned to my side ... paranoid about squashing them!!!!

Martinisarebetterdirty · 22/10/2023 15:38

I know, playing fast and loose with the front sleeping 😂 think I’ll be back in my V support pillow tonight to make me stop.

Heartfullofcheese · 22/10/2023 20:27

Congratulations @thelonghaul hope recovery goes well! Also not sure about times @Weatherwax13 but either good luck or congratulations!

Madagascary · 23/10/2023 06:26
