When was the last time you flew or travelled by car? How often to do you fly? Where to and why?

Do you get deliveroo and Uber eat deliveries? Do you take taxis?

Basically how green is your life?

Noticed you never answered this OP. Plus I'd love to see the published research that most people support ER

ArcticSkewer · 01/08/2023 07:24

Who do you think bankrolls the protests?

Russia? The UK police state? A.N.Other?

How do you think you will feel in the future when you find out?

I'm thinking of all those poor environmentalists from the 80s+90s whose protests were organised and inflitrated by undercover police who also slept with them and had children with some of them.

Thinking of that, do you avoid sexual relationships with other protestors for that reason?

ivykaty44 · 01/08/2023 07:26

Justcallmebebes. You don’t need to be “ perfect” to protest and what does questioning someone on their personal behaviour achieve?

ErnestCelendine · 01/08/2023 07:27

If I'm in a traffic jam caused by an ER protest, with an ill child who needs urgent medical attention, how do I make myself known to protestors to get through?

speak to them directly, if you can, or ring them, if you know which organisation it is.

Two questions from me

The vast majority of people do want the worlds leaders to do something on climate change. I suspect many more would be supportive of Stop Oil, however what they're actually doing is pissing people off and your antics are seen as 🙄 by the majority rather than 🥳 ... you're perhaps making things worse by coming across as extremists/ludicrous people rather than using a better platform where you can debate with world leaders.

Did you attend the Just Stop Oil banquet where the helium balloons / alarms were set off?

PerspiringElizabeth · 01/08/2023 07:31

We arrange transport past blockages for anyone in need of reaching hospital, as long as they make themselves known to us

‘Make themselves known to us’ 😄 who you think you are!! How does that help in an emergency? Sounds very slow.

My question is what is the reasoning for disrupting the public who really have minuscule say on how things are run? What is the thinking behind an approach that is clearly designed to deliberately piss people off when they’re just trying to survive in the world that you know is so shit?

We have barely any effect on climate change as individuals and all know it’s a problem already, so what is the aim with blocking roads etc?

It’s like the current MN ‘how eco friendly are you?’ survey which pissed me off as it had a snide tone of putting all the responsibility of the world dying onto the individual, when really it’s down to governments and policy makers and global companies. Anything an individual does is pointless when whole enormous countries are pumping out noxious fumes without a care?

I clearly agree that the climate is a shit show, but your approach is terrible.

No sorry, that’s not a good enough answer. In a car with an ill child, you expect a person to leave them in the car, walk to the front of a traffic jam which might not even be in sight of the car, stand there begging to be let through, get back to the car, then try and squeeze past the other traffic who probably will also try and squeeze past and so the problem will remain. Is that really your solution?

TomeTome · 01/08/2023 07:35

How on earth do you live with yourself knowing how much police time you waste? We live in a country where less than 1% or rapes are ever followed by a conviction. Do you really think contributing to the abysmal protection of women is ok?

dontjudgemeagain · 01/08/2023 07:37

Hope every poster who disagrees with XR's methods is setting up their own climate activist group with different methods.

Or would you rather the planet just burned whilst we sat pointing at each other?

well, there are a lot of people doing both, and I think both approaches are needed.

No - I wasn't at that just stop oil event, personally

Are you an AI wind up merchant ?

MrsCarson · 01/08/2023 07:44

If someone didn't run a delivery truck, you'd have no food to buy (even local)
If someone didn't buy new clothes you'd have no second had clothes to buy
If someone didn't run a factory you'd have no bike
If someone didn't run a power plant you'd have no electricity
If farmers didn't run mass produced tractors and get delivery of feed there would be no local meat/milk/veg
Riding a bike, using second hand clothes and buying local meat and veg isn't doing as much as you'd like it to.
ER are delusional, seems to be a load of older people who've already driven everywhere, flown all over, used up lots of resources, and have enough money to sustain a comfy life and sod the rest of the public.

Bet01 · 01/08/2023 07:46

I applaud what you are doing, nothing is more important than the climate emergency.

WowIlikereallyhateyou · 01/08/2023 07:48

Market1 · 01/08/2023 07:28

speak to them directly, if you can, or ring them, if you know which organisation it is.

What a simplistic answer, how about if the people are stuck in the miles of traffic chaos behind you, that you have caused in the past?
In this case scenario, you and your members must take for the outcome, if it results in a death, ie manslaughter.

WowIlikereallyhateyou · 01/08/2023 07:49

*take responsibility

midgetastic · 01/08/2023 07:52

Ic we don't stop climate change you won't have food so no need to worry about delivery trucks because with no bees , the fenlands flooded , the world grain basket a desert , there isn't enough food to go round

You won't have new clothes

You won't have a job , the factory will be under water and no one could afford to buy anything anyway

Your best hope is that You will be fighting for scraps

ivykaty44 · 01/08/2023 07:54

Market1 · 01/08/2023 07:27

What is my response - grief

Grief that your protesting is failing?

loislovesstewie · 01/08/2023 07:57

I hope then that you never buy anything made from petroleum products, go on holiday anywhere by air,or travel other than by bike or on foot, and never need to get to hospital urgently [ because you are preventing that by your silliness], I hope you don't buy anything that is imported because of air miles, in fact unless you live a Hobbit existence you really need to stop.
As you can tell, I am fed up with the protests.
It's not a question, but I don't see how you can live with yourselves when you disrupt lives the way you do. You haven't made me sympathetic, exactly the opposite.

notimagain · 01/08/2023 07:57

Just an observation that, having been pressed several times on the issue of flights taken, the Ops reply was:

" I have never flown for leisure,"

Nice answer.......

cryinglaughing · 01/08/2023 07:58

Bunch of idiots the lot of you.

The Crucible protest - was that you lot?
What did it achieve? An extra day's play meaning spectators had to travel into the venue more than they would have done with all the extra associated pollution.
