NC for this as I remained anonymous, which was fairly pointless as I did tell some family and friends and it spread from there.

@mateysmum

Were your friends and family just thrilled for you or did they queue up asking for handouts?

Did you give any of the money away? (Not sure I would, so not judging!)

My sister was thrilled and supportive, as were some aunts, uncles and cousins. Some family members such as my dad, brother and even ex were horrible.

I gave money to charity mostly and a few younger cousins, just to help them buy cars or get on the property ladder but thats it

@TheWomanInTheIronedMask

I have a question! How do we know you're not totally making all this up? Grin
This!
ZooeyS · 15/06/2021 17:09

Congratulations! A really nice chap who works for the same business as me won £9m last year - really delighted for him. I seriously must buy a ticket at some point

Vikingintraining · 15/06/2021 17:10

Oh I have another question please! Do you feel physically and mentally healthier?

That's how I imagine my life would improve if I didn't have to worry about money, I could relax, sleep better, etc.

NCuserer · 15/06/2021 17:10

@MuchTooTired

Most people seem to have a ‘plan’ for what they’d do if they won the lottery. Did you, and if you did, did you actually do it or is it completely different to how you’d imagined it?

Congratulations btw, I’m not jealous at all 😂

My only plan was to buy a house but otherwise I had no solid plans because I never thought I'd win!

This thread has made me buy a lottery ticket

Kentuki · 15/06/2021 17:11

Can you describe your typical day? And your typical year in terms of holidays etc? What sort of house do you have?

NCuserer · 15/06/2021 17:11

@mumumum3

Do you work with a financial advisers to help you manage the money?
When I first won I did, particularly through NL but now I only really contact my accountant

How old were you when you won? And do you move in different social circles now? Do you get along with other rich people or feel different from them? Also do you date? If so do you worry they’re after your money?

CardinalLolzy · 15/06/2021 17:11

I like to think I'd browse JustGiving / crowdfunder pages every day and pick a few to get to their target (after researching them of course!)

ElizabethTudor · 15/06/2021 17:11

Fascinating thread Op.
Congratulations - though I’m sorry to hear about your grabby relatives.
It does give you hope!
I just bought a Thunderball ticket before reading this thread 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Where was your first holiday post win?
Where did you go on holiday pre win (as a comparison)?

NCuserer · 15/06/2021 17:12

@dappledsunshine

Did you move house?
I moved county!

Are you not responding re children because you’d prefer to keep that private?

@BrownEyedGirl80

This thread has made me buy a lottery ticket
I immediately chucked at this comment as I did the same thing too! Grin
HitsAndMrs · 15/06/2021 17:14

What job did you do before?

I put the lottery on occasionally as working in the NHS isn't as fun as I thought 😅
14 million would give me anxiety though.

Do you struggle to trust people now - new friendships etc?

Mooey89 · 15/06/2021 17:15

What sort of house did you buy? A massive one or just a larger than average??

Tiramiwho · 15/06/2021 17:15

She told us from the start she has a son. Smile

I usually do the Euromillions and lottery, but they are at minimum amounts this week. May not bother Wink

NCuserer · 15/06/2021 17:16

@safariboot

Roughly what was your financial situation before the win?

Have you been able to instil a good work ethic in your children? Have you found it difficult to do so? Or indeed do you reject the idea a "work ethic" is a good thing?

(I grew up with a mother who was unable to work due to disability, and I think it might be part of why I'm not highly motivated to work more and earn more.)

I had a fairly safe and reliable healthcare job with decent benefits and a pension. I earned around £1800 a month but my expenditures were high, around £1100 to 1200, this was due to the area.

I have the one son and yes, he has watched me work hard for most of his life. I have an undergraduates and an OU masters, he himself is g&t and wants to go to uni. I don't want him to rely on me financially, I will always encourage him to work and make his own way in life. I will obviously support him when he needs it.

Do you have private Heath care or use the NHS?
Do you have a new life style or do you still live same life just not going to work?
What sort of interest does 14million give you? Or is it invested in stocks n shares sort of thing?

whatausername · 15/06/2021 17:18

What are your unfulfilled dreams/hopes now? So many people seem to dream of winning the lottery but you've already done that!

Maskless · 15/06/2021 17:20

How much have you donated to charities?

Did you prioritise those that help women?

FairyAnn · 15/06/2021 17:20

How many PMs have you had since starting this thread asking for money?...Wink

I’d be interested to hear about your entitled family

Oh and good for you 😊

Californiansunsets · 15/06/2021 17:22

I got up this morning to an email from NL saying “news about your ticket”. I do the set for life, and I was so hoping it was the big win, so I didn’t need to get a mortgage to buy my cheating ex out the house. Never mind, maybe next time.

Anyway, congratulations to you, you seem to still be very grounded with your win. I am not jealous one bit, no I am not lol 😁😁
