NC for this as I remained anonymous, which was fairly pointless as I did tell some family and friends and it spread from there.

What do you actually do with your days?
How old are your children?’did you enrol them in private?

NCuserer · 15/06/2021 16:55

@ivykaty44

Did you give up paid work?

Do you do any type of volunteering or charity work?

And yes, I do 3 -4 days of volunteering, I'd probably die of boredom if I didn't

Did you pay off your mortgage or move house completely?

VettiyaIruken · 15/06/2021 16:56

Oh. And how many hinty PMs have you had since starting this thread? Wink

idontlikealdi · 15/06/2021 16:58

Do the national lottery support winners? £14mil with no advice could be a complete disaster!

Congratulations, I'm jealous 😂😂

ravenmum · 15/06/2021 16:58

Are you in a relationship now, and if so do you think it is a different relationship to the one you might have expected?

VettiyaIruken · 15/06/2021 16:59

Did the lottery people try to pressure you into going public and / or make their support conditional on you going public?

YellowFish12 · 15/06/2021 17:00

I have heard that they do
YellowFish12 · 15/06/2021 17:00

OP are you spending capital or interest?

Did you go to e.g. a private bank and have wealth management advice?

Kittykat93 · 15/06/2021 17:01

I have no questions..I'm just insanely envious :)

NCuserer · 15/06/2021 17:02

@Redwinestillfine

Was the admin around it complicated ( banking limits, tax implications etc)?
Yes, but the national lottery people were very supportive through the process. Had to open a private bank account, hire financial advisors and accountants. There is no tax on the amount you win, only interest gained

They certainly offered it in the past.

When you won you were offered a meeting with a financial adviser and introduced to various contacts at the different banks.

I work for a company that has a few lottery winning clients through being on good terms with someone from one of the banks that was on the panel.

Thanks for starting this thread @NCuserer - it's a fascinating insight.

I'm sorry to read about your family members that felt entitled to your winnings too, though I could probably tell you right now which of mine would do exactly the same if it happened to me.

Wren77 · 15/06/2021 17:02

Congratulations!

Are there any downsides to winning so much money? I have often wondered if I would feel afraid of being burgled or having my children kidnapped if I had something worth taking from me - but then I am an anxious person (and a massive overthinker!!)
Have you had to increase your security in any way?

HopeHappy · 15/06/2021 17:02

Oh, and my question would be:

If you've been able to take advantage of travelling more since you won, what was the best trip you've taken?

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 15/06/2021 17:03

Ah now - grand for you OP.

I always think I will give the majority to charity - make sure my very nearest and dearest don’t have to worry re mortgage and bills and pensions and the like.

I’d love to win. But am glad when folk win and it stops them from worrying.

NCuserer · 15/06/2021 17:03

@Tiredmumno1

That's lovely Smile

I really hope that winning changed your life, We all dream of winning the lottery, does it feel as good as what you'd dreamed of before winning or even better?

It felt better at the time, but you do mellow out after a while. I'm still very happy!

Wow, how lucky and how lovely! Congratulations!
How did you receive the money, does it come all in one go, balance transfer to your account?
Do friends and family always expect you to pay for things when you go out?
Do you still play the lottery?

bendmeoverbackwards · 15/06/2021 17:04

Do you still do the lottery?? Grin

AgeLikeWine · 15/06/2021 17:04

Did Camelot put any pressure on you to go public, or give you advice on how to keep the win private if you wanted to?

NCuserer · 15/06/2021 17:05

@titsintiers

Did you give money away to friends/ family/ charity?
Charity, yes. Not really to friends except buying them nice gifts. Only helped a few family members, but not talking to many

Really interested to find out about impact on children and whether you changed schools

NCuserer · 15/06/2021 17:06

@MossRock

Wow OP! Amazing!

If you played online, did you get the usual email alert that says so mysteriously “you have won a prize” (and always makes my heart jump for a split second before I realise it will be £2.40 again!) or did they contact you by other means for a big win?

It was a lucky dip paper ticket

TheWomanInTheIronedMask · 15/06/2021 17:07

I have a question! How do we know you're not totally making all this up? Grin

Jumpingintosummer · 15/06/2021 17:07

How much interest do you earn a year?

NormaSnorks · 15/06/2021 17:08

Did you give any big donations to charity - if so, how much?
