Amazon often gets a hard time on MN, tbf it’s not the easiest place to work but needs must.
I shall try to answer your questions best I can Wink

I just wanted to say thank you as well. It sounds brutal with the unachievable bonuses and volume of work. ♥️

CourierLass · 26/01/2021 15:37

@duckme
I’ve delivers to houses 6/7 days in a row!!
There’s little places left to shop now, you’re keeping me working.
@mcmooberry
We aren’t meant accept tips but ppl do offer a can of juice, one old man gave me a choccy santa Smile and an Irish granny forced £3 onto me for a hot drink, my life is worth more than to refuse an Irish granny!!

Thank you! Having read your responses, I realise even more how hard you guys work.

So many parcels by Amazon are ‘hidden’ without any note for customer in normal circumstances. Having read the above I assume it’s a lack of time pushing driver to result to this method (even pre covid).

If I complain about a parcel being late, the driver always gets the blame or does company look at when the driver received the parcel from warehouse?!

CourierLass · 26/01/2021 15:38

@Whatsnewpussyhat
It is shit system, they are obsessed with metrics, our DSP has asked repeatedly for our teams positive feedback.

VettiyaIruken · 26/01/2021 15:39

Are they as shit employers as they are rumoured to be?

Bettydot · 26/01/2021 15:40

@CourierLass all of our Amazon drivers do an amazing job. I’m hugely grateful to you all and I only wish other companies were as good at social distancing and mask wearing as you are. I’ve been so impressed I usually come to the window and ask for the parcel to be left at the door to avoid our drivers having any additional unnecessary contacts. I’m sorry your working conditions are tough. Have you had many Covid cases in your warehouses and among your workers? How is social distancing within the warehouses?

CourierLass · 26/01/2021 15:41

@duckme
The biggest thing that would make life easier would be if everyone marked down a safe place for parcel to be left as very few ppl answer when they’re called.
We cannot deliver to a neighbour anymore, a shed, crate for parcel, back door, blue bin anywhere would help and save me minutes.

OP posts:
CourierLass · 26/01/2021 15:44

@Vallmo47
You should always have a card telling you where the parcel is, therefore it’s deserving of a 👎🏼
A late parcel is blamed on us Hmm

I keep Amazon in business. Bloody brilliant drivers. Thank you!

Musicaldilemma · 26/01/2021 15:45

What do you think about Jeff Besos making 200 billion in one year and indirectly benefitting from the pandemic. It has been great to have the Amazon service - do you think some of the profits should be shared more with all those who have contributed to this happening?

CourierLass · 26/01/2021 15:46

@Bettydot
The warehouse has strict covid rules, we have a temp check every day, must remain in your van until it’s your turn to load, mask at all times.
They even have someone with a 2m pole with huge hands 2m wide walking about shouting Grin

I used to do Amazon Flex. I got fired Blush due to 3 instances of negative feedback but they don't give you any details so I have no idea what I did wrong.

Kudos to you OP, it was hard and frustrating work. People who don't answer the door despite sitting by the window staring at you, houses with no numbers, people complaining about being asked ID on age-restricted deliveries Hmm

EmbarrassingMama · 26/01/2021 15:46

Whoop! Thank you @CourierLass for all your hard work and dedication to keeping you and us safe.

You do an awesome job.

Akire · 26/01/2021 15:47

I’m a sub contractor to a logistics company, Amazon rarely employ direct as they do not want any responsibility for you.
@Akire
Amazon are very strict on social distancing, mask MUST be worn outside your van, parcels placed down at door and step back until door opens.
It’s the customers who don’t stick to SD as they reach out to take parcel and rarely have a mask.[/quote]
I’ve never yet seen amazon driver with a mask Inside our building. I do get the jump out of van knock door step back. I’m talking more about enter foyer, use lift, walk 30metres down indoor narrow hallway to reach a front door.

TeenPlusTwenties · 26/01/2021 15:47

Does 'the system' work out your route for you?
Do you have any discretion on delivery order at all?

CourierLass · 26/01/2021 15:48

@Musicaldilemma
It’d be great to have an increase in our day rate!
This past week they have cut the number of routes but increased the size of them for less ££ than we got before Xmas.
I don’t know how much ££ the man needs.
It’s a for now job not forever.

OP posts:
CourierLass · 26/01/2021 16:23

@BlowDryRat
It is near impossible standard and you never know why you get a concession.
@Akire
I always wear my mask and unless exempt they must.

You’re doing a great job in difficult circumstances.

Blerg · 26/01/2021 16:35

Another thank you from me! I put a crate with lid (just an old recycling box with a lid) on the step - initially for milk and butter from the milkman but it is great for Amazon too.

I had about 7 small parcels delivered earlier all from Amazon. I’d ordered the stuff all at the same time. I felt like explaining myself to the delivery driver than I hadn’t done 7 different transactions. I usually save them up but that doesn’t seem to work anymore!

CourierLass · 26/01/2021 16:44

@Blerg
The orders are rarely packaged up together which is wasteful with regards paper/cardboard.
There is an option to choose for them to be together but it’s not always successful.

It's a shame you don't get to hear about the positive feedback. I've been making a real effort to give good feedback for the last few months. I've had issues with Amazon but not with deliveries so would go directly to Amazon to feed that back.

CourierLass · 26/01/2021 18:49

@WaxOnFeckOff
That’s kind of you 🥰

OP posts:
Akire · 26/01/2021 18:54

What can we do to make you feel appreciated? Amazon is a life line for many people

CourierLass · 26/01/2021 18:57

Don’t give us a 👎🏼😉
Always note a safe place for parcel 😊
A thank you makes my day, too many ppl look at you like a piece of dirt as if you have a cheek to knock their door even though you’re giving them a parcel.
Thank you is appreciated.

WaxOnFeckOff · 26/01/2021 18:57

No worries @CourierLass, I don't have issues with any of the delivery companies used in my area, even my Hermes folk are great :)

I do feel bad if you get one with tracking and you see you are delivery 67 or 130 and yours isn't due until 6pm. I always think that if it was a member of my family I'd hate for them to be out driving so late and would be happy to wait until the next day.
