Are you hoping for a boy or a girl?

OK seriously do you watch your cycle in addition to avoid the riskiest times? I don't think I'd ever relax...

Chickencellar · 26/07/2018 21:33

Has it worked?

edinburghlass1991 · 26/07/2018 21:33

Must add iam a catholic which is why we use it

Firenight · 26/07/2018 21:35

I was going to ask whether you also track your cycle? I do and we are super careful during the most fertile time.

Kids only when planned in 10 years of doing this.

Slimmingsnake · 26/07/2018 21:35

I'm catholic ,I use the mini pill ,which I take every day without a break.why is that not good for being catholic

edinburghlass1991 · 26/07/2018 21:35

Yes it’s worked so far my ds is 2 and we used that before him for 3 yrs only stopping to ttc. In a nutshell children are a gift and I would be happy to have more

So did I, for a few years after my usual pill was withdrawn due to migraine.

In 4 years I never had so much as a false alarm, we got really complacent and I figured I was simply not fertile (DH has 3 DC from a previous).

Then one day, bam I was pregnant.

Is it a conscious choice for you, or circumstance?

RadioDorothy · 26/07/2018 21:37

Oh sorry cross post, I see why. Smile

edinburghlass1991 · 26/07/2018 21:37

No tracking of cycle. Mini pill like all other forms is sinful to catholics

OP posts:
jollyhollyday · 26/07/2018 21:38

I've used it for over 10 years and have only got pregnant when we planned
Wink

edinburghlass1991 · 26/07/2018 21:39

Saying iam catholic is more to explain why but I really don’t want to talk much about it thanks

Penisbeakerismyfavethread · 26/07/2018 21:39

You do know you can track bbt cm and use ovulation sticks if you still want to do the no contraception thing.

Also do you not eat shellfish or meat with cloven hooves?
Do you not wear clothes of different fibres?

If you do those things why is using the withdrawal so important?

I’m catholic btw and have always struggled with this concept

InSpaceNooneCanHearYouScream · 26/07/2018 21:40

If one form of contraception is 'sinful' to Catholics then so is the withdrawal method. It's still a form of contraception. How ridiculous.
Thank fuck i'm an atheist Confused

Penisbeakerismyfavethread · 26/07/2018 21:41

Sorry x post fine if you don’t want to answer.

Hideandgo · 26/07/2018 21:44

OP, just to clarify. Contraception is only sinful to a small minority of extreme Catholics.

unlimiteddilutingjuice · 26/07/2018 21:47

We also use this method OP. Worked like a charm so far. 2 kids in 7 years of marriage, both planned.

BarbiesPinkShoes23 · 26/07/2018 21:47

I did it for 6 years after DC1 (early-late twenties) before trying for DC 2. I’m not religious though, the Pill/depo just didn’t agree with me. I’ve got the mirena coil now though due to heavy bleeding. I don’t think I’d solely rely on withdrawal now, I was very lucky not to fall pg accidentally.

LEMtheoriginal · 26/07/2018 21:49

What about when you are older and a baby would be not so much of a gift? I am late 40s and catholic and couldnt consider termination. I suffered terrible pnd with my youngest and still have anxiety 13 years layer.

I have a mirena coil.

Not a goady question its something ive considered

LEMtheoriginal · 26/07/2018 21:50

Oh qnd my 13yo is a result of tge withdrawal method Grin

coffeeforone · 26/07/2018 21:50

We used this for 10 years successfully! Then, one day, out of the blue, I was pregnant. I trusted it as a reliable method before DS but not any more!

Hideandgo · 26/07/2018 21:52

Yeah I’ve also a beautiful and much loved little baby that was unplanned thanks to the withdrawal method.

Samanabanana · 26/07/2018 21:53

I've used the same method of contraception since 2012, only one DC who was planned! I do have PCOS though, so maybe that is a contributing factor to our success in using this particular method!

whothefuckhas5children · 26/07/2018 21:53

I use the withdrawal method AMA
I'm taking a lot of risk with my birth control method AMA

LEMtheoriginal · 26/07/2018 21:54

Inspace - most forms of contraception rely on the prevention of implantation, unless a barrier is used but then most condoms have spermicide so the OP is absolutely not being ridiculous.

Extreme catholics? Come on now - yes a strict catholic would be more likely to observe this and views have changed within the church with much controversy in trying to persuade the vatican to change its stance.

MrsTerryPratchett · 26/07/2018 21:56

I know you don't want to answer questions about it OP (in AMA Grin) but could someone explain how the bible teaches that something not invented then is a sin? And withdrawal and cycle tracking, which had been invented aren't? TIA.
