I didn't know I was pregnant until 32 weeks - sorry I know this isn't a competition. Hope everything went well for you.

GetToFuck · 22/07/2018 00:25

How did you find out? How did your family/the father react?

sadandtired1 · 22/07/2018 00:26

I learned everything I need to know about this from tiredemma.😁

I wonder if shes still on Mumsnet. I wonder how old the baby is now?! It was an incredible story

Yes I was still having periods, looking back they were clearly not as heavy as normal but my periods were always inconsistent so I didn't really take much notice

Were you in a relationship? How did you finally find out?

sadandtired1 · 22/07/2018 00:30

Just tried finding the tiredemma thread and can't - it's a good one though!

ReggieKrayDoYouKnowMyName · 22/07/2018 00:31

Did you get in trouble/get flagged with antenatal for being “late presenting”? I know from my friend who’s a midwife that this can get you a social servicrs referal if they think you were purposefully concealing a pregnancy.

Lynne1Cat · 22/07/2018 00:32

Were you overweight?

SilverBirchTree · 22/07/2018 00:32

Did you have any symptoms?

Were you drinking etc? Did that bother you when you found out?

Did the shock impact how you felt about the child?

MakeItStopNeville · 22/07/2018 00:34

This happened to me too. I was 25 weeks. I realized when my stomach moved in the bath. It’s actually a lot more common than people think.

Pepperpug · 22/07/2018 00:36

Looking back there were some subtle signs, but it didn't even cross my mind that I could be pregnant, I was on the pill, was really into my fitness at the time so I didn't gain any weight, it was only when my stomach started growing and no amount of exercise would shift it did I think there was something up.

I never wanted children and had recently broke up with my partner as he did.

'I never wanted children and had recently broke up with my partner as he did.'

Oh my gosh OP, I cannot imagine your shock when you found out. I don't want children either and this would be my worst nightmare. How did you cope?

Pepperpug · 22/07/2018 00:42

By the time I found out i assumed I was only a few weeks gone and honestly the timing could not have been worse, I was pretty much homeless and scared for my future so I made an appointment to terminate.

It was at the appointment they told me how far along I was and I was just so incredibly shocked, I cried for what seemed like forever as I realised there was nothing I could do.

Lottapianos · 22/07/2018 00:45

Oh Pepper Flowers and how is life now?

delphguelph · 22/07/2018 00:49

Er, I've never heard of anyone like this!

Did you realise you were gaining weight? Did you find out the sex? Did you have enough time to prepare? Did you have morning sickness?

delphguelph · 22/07/2018 00:50

Sorry, just seen your last post.

How are you doing nowadays?

Pepperpug · 22/07/2018 00:54

I called my mum straight after the appointment and she said that even though she knew I was upset, she didn't care as it was the best news in the world and it was just meant to be Smile

I think her reaction grounded me and I pulled myself together. I remember thinking that the baby clearly knew me and knew what I'd do if I found out in time so he just grew really quietly and stayed as still as he could until he knew I was ready to find out. I know it sounds silly but after that day he was somersaulting all over the place, there was no way I could not of felt him.

I spent a few days coming to terms with how my life was going to change, then I told my (ex) partner who was thrilled to say the least, he thought that it was the fix to everything but we clearly had other issues that needed work but I was happy to be back together.

OP posts:
Lottapianos · 22/07/2018 00:56

So you got back together? How old is your child now and how do you feel about being a parent?

GetToFuck · 22/07/2018 00:56

How old were you?

noselimit · 22/07/2018 01:01

It happened to me to. Right down to the finding out how far gone I was at the termination appointment. I never knew it was quite so common as it seems to be!
