Noticed the trend of career threads recently so thought I'd join in, always get loads of questions when my job comes up on here.

I'm a Nanny/Governess specialising in High Net Worth/ViP families - happy to answer any questions Smile

OP posts:
cherrytrees123 · 05/07/2018 21:16

I think the OP mentioned that old money are different - prepared to get involved and do things. She mentioned this quite a bit further back in the thread.

MrsElijahMikaelson · 05/07/2018 21:58

Very interesting this thread!

Perfectly1mperfect and others who say OP is not respecting privacy of her employers...could you identify the families which she has worked for from her posts? And which story applies to which family?

RayneDance · 05/07/2018 22:06

Cherry ok thanks, I did mean in terms of house cleanliness though.

Op are all the homes shoes off, or shoe on..

TheMythicalChicken · 05/07/2018 22:39

What’s the age of the oldest child you’ve nannied for?

AvtarRamKaur · 05/07/2018 23:00

I've skimmed through the thread, so sorry if I missed it, but my dd is interested in becoming a celebrity nanny and I'd love to tell her exactly what she needs to study to get the good jobs. :)

victoryvee · 05/07/2018 23:05

Can I ask why the positions are often only short term? Wouldn't the parents want their children to have consistency?

DairyMilkisEvil · 06/07/2018 00:09

Have you ever worked for a parent who appeared in Hello or OK magazine, with them spouting about what a hands on mother they were, and you were thinking "what a load of BS, they only see the child for an hour a day?"

Plumsofwrath · 06/07/2018 00:56

Thanks for this thread OP. I’m a lone SAHM with a “mere” part-time nanny in a neighbourhood full to the rafters with SAHMs who have as many nannies as children, and seem to spend their time doing....??

Anyhow, you sound very professional and slick, I’m sure you’ll do very well and will reach your goal of semi-retirement by your 30s. Good for you, and good luck with your plans for children of your own.

Quick q: in being so discreet with the RF, is it the possibility of legal action that keeps you schtum, or do you feel (maybe because they’ve put the idea in your head?) a sense of patriotic duty, or loyalty to the RF present and future (ie your charges themselves) to maintain a dignified silence?

KevinTheYuccaPlant · 06/07/2018 07:45

Plums - I would guess because the OP has to sign non-disclosure agreements for every job and while all the answers she's giving are generic and don't identify a single family, therefore not breaching an NDA, any questions about the RF she answers are obviously identifying and would breach the NDA, potentially leading to legal action.

LuciaSpain · 06/07/2018 08:13

But why doesn't the OP just say, I don't know when asked about the royal family? Instead by saying she can't answer certain questions she's drawing attention to herself.

UrgentExitRequired · 06/07/2018 08:52

Could just be me but I think she's showing professionalism by saying that she cannot answer also it adds a bit of mystery lSmile

By saying she doesn't know would be a lie, if she genuinely did know.

No way would a question about the royal family get an answer if she wants to stay in her profession

Ginorchoc · 06/07/2018 09:17

Doesn’t W&K have Norland nannies?

LuciaSpain · 06/07/2018 09:18

To be honest if I was a royal and a nanny was on here doing what she is, I would be very annoyed. Very unprofessional.

glintandglide · 06/07/2018 09:36

I don’t really see why that matters tbh? Why would a royal be on here? Even in the unlikelihood they were who cares if they’re annoyed?

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 06/07/2018 10:09

Suchhhhhhh an interesting (and at times sad) thread.

Best AMA thread yet and also has sparked some ideas for my parenting: an hour of craft and an hour of outside + meals (and naps) = Structure (and that makes me feel like a good and in control mum).

Givemeabreakt · 06/07/2018 10:15

Such a brilliant thread. Do you speak other languages apart from English?

blueshoes · 06/07/2018 10:18

How many times do you have to bite your tongue. OP: I basically have no tongue left by this point

Lol. So write a book Smile

blueshoes · 06/07/2018 10:20

You say most of the mothers are SAHMs. Is there any difference if the mother is a SAHM or WAHM/WOHM?

cherrytrees123 · 06/07/2018 17:51

For God's sake, she obviously does know. She is being extremely careful and saying she can't answer. Obvious. What is the problem? She's being completely discreet.

Mrsemcgregor · 06/07/2018 18:08

I would like to ask, have you ever been pleasantly surprised by a famous family? Have you met someone who doesn’t deserve the reputation the media might give them?

Thank you for this thread, it’s very interesting!

Travellinghopefully2018 · 06/07/2018 22:40

Just caught up and wanted to say what a great thread, thanks OP!

ILikeyourHairyHands · 06/07/2018 23:12

Great thread OP, my question is, are you single? I have a great friend who is a personal chef for VIP and celebs and he's lovely! You should probably get married, bring your children up beautifully, eat fabulous food and live off the earnings of the books you could write...

ILikeyourHairyHands · 06/07/2018 23:13

(And come round to mine and gossip like mad).

cherrytrees123 · 08/07/2018 15:34

Has the OP disappeared?

Fridgeneed · 08/07/2018 17:06

Brilliant thread!
