Our verdict

Liferyder’s Vogue balance bike is stylish, lightweight and durable - all are three things you want in a balance bike, in my opinion. Designed with toddlers and pre-schoolers in mind, it’s a great choice for little ones as they learn to ride and balance. 

While assembly is a bit of a chore, the end result is pretty cool: a visually appealing, well-built balance bike that has thoughtful safety features (like the anti-jack knife steering) and thick air tyres for sturdiness. 

We live in the countryside, so this balance bike has been tested on all terrains both at home and while out and about. Like the Liferyder Infinity scooter, with its thick air-filled tyres, the balance bike glides over most terrain with ease. It excels in all environments, never giving any problems, which, in my mind, makes it ideal for everyday adventures.

So, would I recommend it? Yes. Despite minor gripes with assembly, once built, it’s a superb investment that will last for years.

How we tested the Liferyder Vogue children’s balance bike

  • Tested over three months, multiple times a day

  • Tested with two young boys, aged 3.5 and 5

  • Ridden over various terrain including grass, gravel, smooth pavements and through muddy puddles!

During testing, my eldest child (who is the primary user) enjoyed using the bike and has continued to keep it as his go-to bike of preference when we head out. My youngest found the straight chassis a little tricky when getting on and off, though, as he’s shorter than his older brother. That said, once on, both my kids have found it comfortable and easy to ride and particularly enjoy ringing the attached bell.

This balance bike is designed for children aged 18 months to five years old, with a maximum weight of 30kg. The adjustable seat height (32cm - 45cm) means it can grow with your child, making it a long-lasting choice.

What is the Liferyder Vogue children’s balance bike like to assemble?

Assembly isn’t the quickest or easiest. It comes dismantled, you need tools and detailed instructions, which are both included in the box. Putting it together took some time and patience on my part, I’ll be honest.

The stickers aren’t pre-applied, which adds another fiddly job – and if you’ve got impatient kids watching, it’s even more frustrating! However, once built, it’s worth the effort and my boys loved that they chose the design.

How does the Liferyder Vogue children’s balance bike look?

This is one of the most stylish balance bikes I’ve tested and/or bought for my kids (and I've tested many!). Liferyder offers over 35 different designs, so there’s plenty of choice to suit different tastes. For testing purposes, we received the Blue Stealth and Graffiti designs, both of which looked fantastic. But ultimately, the former was chosen by my eldest. 

The personalised mini registration plate was a great extra touch, and made my kids feel extra special. It also helped any arguments over whose turn it was during testing… I just swapped out the reg plates! 

What is the Liferyder Vogue children’s balance bike like to use day to day?

My boys love this balance bike and it’s easy to see why. It performs well in most areas including:

  • Steering: The anti-jack knife handlebars make steering smooth and safe, preventing accidents. We have another balance bike from a different brand that doesn’t have this feature and it’s infuriating!

  • Wheels and terrain: The 12-inch wheels and thick air tyres make this bike incredibly sturdy on all surfaces. We’ve tested it on mud, gravel, tarmac, grass, rain, and even snow before Christmas, and it handled every condition impressively.

  • Footrests: The built-in rear footrests are a nice touch, allowing kids to glide comfortably (my youngest is fearless and loves to glide down hills). 

Since the tyres are air-filled, there's a chance of punctures, much like with an adult bicycle. The good news? Liferyder offers a puncture repair kit (sold separately), complete with patches, a sanding strip, and tyre levers, so you have everything needed for a quick and easy fix.

Can the Liferyder Vogue children’s balance bike be stored away easily?

No, the bike does not fold, but since it’s lightweight (3.5kg) versus the Frog Bikes Tadpole which is over 4kg, it’s easy to carry using the built-in frame handle. I managed to store it in my car boot many times after a trip to the park.

Is the Liferyder Vogue children’s balance bike easy to clean?

Yes! The polymer composite frame is smooth and wipe-clean friendly. Considering we tested it in muddy conditions over winter, I found it was easy to clean with a quick wipe down when returning home or before storing it in the car boot.

The waterproof stickers also held up well, surprisingly! I’d worried that they would begin to peel after being exposed to the elements. 

Is the Liferyder Vogue children’s balance bike is good value for money?

For £89, this is excellent value for money considering most balance bikes like the Hornit AIRO are over £100. You get a high-quality, durable, and stylish balance bike that can grow with your child until they reach the age of five. 

The thick air tyres, anti-jackknife steering, and lightweight yet sturdy frame make it a premium option at a reasonable price.

Would I buy it? Yes – it’s a solid investment for any child learning to balance and glide.
