The handmaidens at The Ladies Pond just can’t help themselves. A woman wears a swimming costume which expresses an opinion which contravenes their ludicrous trans ideology and they actually want to know if she can be prevented from wearing it. They think they’re the good guys but they are authoritarians enforcing a men’s sexual rights movement.
No dearies, you can’t stop this woman from wearing her cool swimming costume just because you don’t like it.

people want these Ponds to remain safe, respectful and inclusive.

Do 'people' not include women who cannot access mixed sex spaces then? Often because of their own diversities and intersectionalities?

Where exactly IS this professed value of safety, respect and inclusion?

Do the ponds qualify as an association under the Equality Act or a service provider?

Under the Equality Act 2010, an association is defined as an organization or group of people that has at least 25 members and uses specific rules and a genuine selection process to control who can join

You don't need to be a member to swim at the ponds so it doesn't seem that the rules for associations would apply here.

Even if it did fall within the association rules what would the legitimate aim be for allowing trans identified men to use the women's pond. It's becomes mixed sex so the legitimate aims of providing single sex swimming don't apply.

Yes. Potentially KLPA could legally have transwomen members and female members, but that is separate from who can swim.

I am saying that it is perfectly legal to have swimming sessions which include women and transgender people, which is what they are doing. They are specifically saying it's not single sex. That's what the guidance allows.

“Although our consultation was never a referendum, the message from regular swimmers and the wider community was clear – people want these Ponds to remain safe, respectful and inclusive.

“Whilst the Supreme Court judgment confirmed the legal definition of ‘sex’, it did not decide that all trans inclusive services must become single-sex services.

“We have continued to listen and take detailed legal advice throughout this process. The approach agreed today protects the character and unique spirit of the Ponds while ensuring they remain welcoming to all.”

So women can go and swim in the men’s pond? If not why not? If men can swim in all three ponds, so can women. I can see a visit in my near future…

Oh dear Mouldy! The classic schoolkid error of failing to understand the question before attempting to answer it. You have provided a link to the EHRC guidance for associations. The Ladies Pond is not an association, it is a service provided by CoLC so this guidance is completely irrelevant.

Just as an aside, you have failed to understand what the guidance is saying. Yes, associations are allowed to use multiple protected characteristics for selection for membership but only collectively, not separately. An association for people who are female AND Christian is permissable. An association for people who are female OR Christian is not.

That's exactly what women have tried to do - twice (at least) and been thrown out of the Men's Pond for doing so. Man Friday - i think even the police were called.

That’s outrageous! So men get 3 ponds, women get 2. Because verities assume no one is going to question any man using the ladies pond.

Women who don't/can't have men around get no ponds to swim in.

But if it is nit single sex, then it is open to all. They cannot have women and some men, it’s either women only or all women and all men. And the same for the men’s pond. So by being inclusive they now have 3 mixed sex ponds. Don’t think that’ll please the men who use the men’s pond but you say users wanted that.

“Whilst the Supreme Court judgment confirmed the legal definition of ‘sex’, it did not decide that all trans inclusive services must become single-sex services.

No, the services can be mixed sex. They can't, however, invoke the SSEs while also being mixed sex. Basic logic, really.

Indeed.

And if you're a woman who cannot use mixed sex spaces - there were some Jewish women for example who regularly swam at the women's pond - men choose from their favourite choosy choice of three....

and those women get no access at all.

They call this 'inclusive'.

Wishesandhorses · 24/09/2026 20:48

I see from the other thread Translucent have applied to be intervenors in the case. Crack on. There always is the utter conviction that if men with trans identities stand in a court room and emote about how SAD it makes them to permit women to have rights and equality in law, that everyone will go aww bless and indulge.

How many men I wonder will we have to sit through the emoting of? God that's going to take a lot of Tunnocks.

Followed by the women's actual legal bit involving no bloody emoting, just facts and law, and an expectation that equality and inclusion means something for the rest of the population beyond men with genders.

Slothtoes · 24/09/2026 21:14

Only massively entitled men (or men with bad motives) would not be utterly ashamed of themselves, for trying to stop women having any reserved spaces that women can be in; without men

Not the kind of men you would want to be around in any unclothed vulnerable situation

I think though it would then have to be clear that all three pools were mixed sex.

Which as SCJ mentioned, could give rise to claims on the basis of indirect discrimination against women.

And the issue is, let's be honest, the desire to use the SSE, on the basis of sex, and name it as the WOMENS space, to then permit some men's identities to be gratified by everybody pretending to think they are women and letting them where only women are supposed to go.

The desired goal is that experience for men, using those women and a designated women's space, which then harms and excludes women to provide them as a resource and service for those men on a sexed basis.

Tis problematic.

If you want to call it a women's facility then you have evoked the SSEs.

It only excludes women who object. Acquiescent women, unaware women, compliant women are all included. Male supportive women are included.

Difficult women, women who say 'no', religious women, women who object to male bodies, women with PTSD or trauma that is triggered by men, are all barred. Women who object to seeing penises are barred.

Go along with what the men say, and you're welcome, though.

Nice, kind, good, inclusive women can visit.

Bad, horrible, complaining, stubborn women cannot.

Wishesandhorses · 24/09/2026 22:30

Essentially the male imposed criteria for female access is consent to prioritise and enable men.

If the point you are attempting to present as an accurate representation of the EA2010 were correct, then a group of male people with transgender identities would not have been protesting the women’s labour conference nor threatening legal action to prove your point.

Instead, the Labour Party with the resources of the government to fund the best legal advice, fully excluded those male people. A very strong indicator that your point is not true and is merely repeating what is effectively a sound bite mantra that is based on what a group want to be true and not the truth.
