Welcome to The Bluestocking, the best (perhaps only) online women's pub. Nothing in the food or drink can harm you, everything is served by a very enthusiastic crew of gerbils, who enjoy doing this, and any curious menfolk are welcome at the Staunch Ally down the road.

I have been on MN a long time, and as my current UN suggests, I've had other -better- usernames in past lives.

This is my first seat at The Bluestocking, however.

I am usually found wandering around the bookish areas of MN adding to my TBR pile.

I daren't tread into the bookish parts - my TBR pile already extends to a couple of bookcases and several hundred books on my Kindle.

If only!
Perhaps I should have tried it when casting for Baron Bigod.

Empress, perhaps the cathedral is really closed because they don't want you snooping around in there with a team of gerbils.

😮of course! why didn't I think of that! when ruling monarchs fake their own deaths to keep you out, you know you're on to something big.

Is that tasteless? cos the poor old king did die and that whole family is having a terrible time at the moment and here I am using him as a prop in a gerbil-related whimsical remark... what's Norwegian for sorry?😕

Does everybody else here call you Empress? I've just noticed that. I've been calling you Kitty and your kitty Kitty, it amuses me to think you both have the same name and the power of typography creates the only situation in which you are more bold than Kitty😁

So a definitive welcome to the Bluestocking, thenSmile

Definitely approach with caution. I go to add a quick recommendation and come away with more to add to my leaning tower of paperbacks, ambushed, every single time.

Gosie is grateful for all your good wishes. Every time I think the drama will ease, it doesn’t. So if she gets a chapter out this week, it will be a bonus.

Love to all 💙💙💙💙💙💙💙

I'd love a play with a telehandler.

Massive congrats on losing the half a stone. Tell me how to do it. I gained half a stone last year (I stress-ate) and have managed to hold steady this year, but it doesn't really seem to be coming off.

I look back fondly on those years of breastfeeding, when I could eat like a bloody horse and not gain an ounce. I didn't do too badly afterwards, either, then this thing called the menopause came along.

Edited

That never worked for me as a way to lose weight, I think I probably managed to gain weight. I’m good at that.

It wasn’t as if the DC wasn’t eating properly, in his first few months he was right at the top of the centile charts for weight. Someone official (HV?) told me that if I’d been formula feeding I’d have been told to cut down what he was getting, but an exclusively breast fed can’t be over fed.

Ah, such a long time ago. No doubt most of the advice has changed, but I hope not on that.
