I have zero interest in Mel Gibson, and have simply asked you to actually prove that 'we', the perfect people wouldn't want him on our side because he is a very bad man. In reality which 'our side, loads of not very good people will be on it because reality is reality for good and bad people.

If you make a claim then substantiate it. Or stop making claims. Its not hard.

I am quite content that Gibson's recorded comments about his then partner and his recorded comments to the arresting police officer for the DUI are sufficient to indicate that he is sexist, racist and antisemitic as well as not a very nice person. So, although he and I may agree that humans cannot change sex, we are not on the same "side".

We see time and again people, the 'good' people on 'our side' being called all sorts with zero evidence so the right thing to do is to find out what it is that anyone accused of being 'bad' or 'not the right sort of person' that 'we' want on 'our side', whether you like them or not, is being accused of.

What were the recorded comments?

It seems a bit off that you want me to repeat the comments directly here, when I have said that they were recorded (in a police report and as audio on a video) and the content of those recordings can easily be found online from reputable sources that can easily be checked for authenticity. I don't want to repeat what was said, because it's sexist, racist and antisemitic. If that means that you choose to believe that I am making it up or misunderstanding what was said, or exaggerating what was said, then that is your prerogative.

I am not saying that Gibson is "bad" or a "bad person". I am saying that he isn't any kind of feminist, he isn't gender critical, he isn't a person I'd ever want to engage with or claim as someone who I admire, respect or want associated with any organisation or campaign that I support. The reasons for feeling that way are down to his public actions and his recorded comments. He pled guilty to a misdemeanour battery charge against his former partner, and was sentenced for it. He was charged and sentenced for the DUI where he made the antisemitic comments to the police. He apologised for making the antisemitic comments, he didn't deny saying them. And so on.

His best acting years must be 1979 to around 1984? "Gallipoli" and "The Bounty" are great films.

Most normal people are gender critical whether they know it or not. It’s not that big a deal.

@Shedmistress , if you aren't aware of Gibson's frequent antisemitic rants (often when pissed or high) over the past 20 odd years, don't expect everyone else to do your homework for you.

He's been arrested more than once and gone off on appalling rants he's later had to apologise for, and became largely unemployable as a result of it.

As far as i am aware Gibson was reported widely in the press for obnoxious behaviours, and opinions.

Disappointing for me as i would not have kicked him out of bed for eating crisps….

It's not about "The Press" and believing anything that's written about someone in the public eye without critical thought. I was very specific about the criminal charges which are a matter of public record, as are the police transcripts from the DUI arrest. As far as I am concerned, that absolutely is providing evidence for my opinions and claims about Gibson.

Do you think that what I have stated is exactly the same as people calling someone like JKR a transphobe or accusing her of making transphobic comments and then refusing to provide further details?

Certainly I'd hope we can agree that there is no evidence he is gender critical, no evidence that he is a feminist, and no evidence that he made the comments attributed to him by the OP. A total non-story.
