Don't know if anyone has posted this. Thought it might be of interest to those of you on the Welsh side of the bridge. I'm not anymore but found it linked from an old Facebook group.

www.cteg.org.uk/chwarae-tegs-statement-reforms-gender-recognition-act-2004/

They are trying to sound "reasonable" but essentially it's saying "we want to listen to and be fair to all people apart from those who disagree with us"

I think it’s brilliant. Well done them for taking a stand.

Imnobody4 · 03/07/2018 23:01

Hardly taking a stand.

dinosaursandtea · 03/07/2018 23:03

I’m confused? They’re clearly taking a stand in support of trans women.

It's not a stand is it. Women's Aid.
Women's Aid .
How can it be supportive of open consultations if it's already clearly stating that anyone who doesn't agree with their standpoint is transphobic

OP posts:
dinosaursandtea · 03/07/2018 23:14

Yeah, Women’s Aid. For women - which includes trans women. Is there something I’m missing here?

NotAnotherFeckingMuftiDay · 03/07/2018 23:42

Yep.
You're missing that it's Woman's Aid and not Transwomans Aid.

Further hijacking and colonisation of spaces and services biological women have fought and worked for by entitled biological males.

I ask this a lot but here we go again

What is so wrong with being a transwoman? Women are women, trans women are trans women. Why not celebrate who you are?

And yes dinosaurs, I think you are missing quite a lotm

glenthebattleostrich · 03/07/2018 23:47

Please don't use cis. If we have to respect pro nouns those on the other side of the debate could show the same courtesy.

AssassinatedBeauty · 03/07/2018 23:48

Women. It excludes women who aren't able to be in a so called safe space with male bodied people.

In this brave new world, I don't fit your definition of woman. But I certainly am one.

NotAnotherFeckingMuftiDay · 03/07/2018 23:50

You are clearly goading so I'll leave you to it. Perhaps you can have a look in the newspeak guidelines at the c word you used to describe women...

barnacharmer · 03/07/2018 23:51

Nope. Women includes women, not trans women ergo women's aid are shafting the very people they were set up to help.

Cis is offensive

NauticalDisaster · 03/07/2018 23:52

no, we won’t get used to it, we will fight it, and it’s working.

Transwomen are transwomen.

ToeToToe · 03/07/2018 23:53

"Women is a term that includes both cis and trans women."

No it isn't.

FermatsTheorem · 03/07/2018 23:55

I am not a cis woman. I was born with, and still have, a vagina, uterus and ovaries. What does that make me?

We used to have a poster on here who very bravely spoke about her PTSD and how, on bad days, she would have panic attacks being in the same room as male bodied people. For her, a safe, woman-only place to heal from her experiences was quite literally a matter of life and death.

We also used to have a lovely transwoman poster who had, at some point, been raped, and who was at pains to stress that she (and I'm happy to accord her the courtesy of calling her she, because she was always a very reasonable poster) had had no problem accessing rape crisis support which included her, and couldn't see why it should be such a big deal to have some rape crisis support which was biological women only, for women with severe PTSD.

No-one is saying that all rape support has to be for women only - just that we need it to be legal to have some spaces that are women only. And to deny that there is a need for such spaces is woman-phobic.

And to repeat - don't fucking call me cis. I do not identify with the oppressive gender roles that society tries to force upon me. I am a woman, because I have a vagina, uterus and ovaries. I'm not identifying as anything.

Pratchet · 03/07/2018 23:59

Women's Aid should stand up for women. It shouldn't be prioritising male-bodied people. It feels like you are trying to get someone to say something you can report.

Pratchet · 04/07/2018 00:01

Women is a term that includes both cis and trans women

Trans women are transgender women, are women who are transgender. That means they have XX chromosomes and wish they were men/have a masculine gender identity.

Noqont · 04/07/2018 00:02

Woman is not a term that includes men.
Transwomen are transwomen. Not women. There is a huge difference between the two. The basic biology lessons you should have received at school would inform you of that. Unless you were gazing out of the window at the time. Hence your confusion.
I'm a woman. Not a cis woman. Do not change my identity to validate those of others who are not women.

terryleather · 04/07/2018 00:03

No woman is cis. GFs are goady

News at 10.

AornisHades · 04/07/2018 00:03

Is cis not on the MNHQ offensive terms list?

AnOpinion · 04/07/2018 00:06

Transwomen are transwomen

I don't have a gender identity and don't believe in God making mistakes, I have a personality so can't be C*S.
