Don't know if anyone has posted this. Thought it might be of interest to those of you on the Welsh side of the bridge. I'm not anymore but found it linked from an old Facebook group.

They are trying to sound "reasonable" but essentially it's saying "we want to listen to and be fair to all people apart from those who disagree with us"

Transactivists are proud of the way they consulted the service decision-makers and not the people who use the services. They do it quite calculatedly. They feel no shame. The 'people who use their services' they are destroying are inkyvwomwn anyway. Nobody else cares. The Minister for Women doesn't care. Why should they care?

The trans movement is so well funded and supported, they could easily set up services for trans people, if they wanted.
They don't want to. They have no empathy for the women who need those services.

On a discussion about domestic violence, it was pointed out that abusive men don't let women go into spaces where there might be men; so for example, women have trouble accessing a smear test unless they can be sure the doctor is a woman.

And that abusive men also want to be there themselves to monitor 'their' partner. To make sure no one is talking to her, to turn her against him and persuade her she can leave.
Which is a Catch 22 for them; no men will be there but they are also barred. It makes them stressed and that increases the chance of them abusing.

So women end up having to negotiate every time they need a smear test or a doctors appointment, knowing they are increasing the chances of being harmed every time they do so.

I think mods on all social media platforms need to take training in abuser behaviour now. Because they don't seem to be able to see it when its happening right under their nose.

Men (ie adult human males, shouldn't need to state the biology and Darwin would be turning in his grave) are physically different to women.

Men are physically stronger, physically bigger, and as the crime statistics prove, more violent than women. And that is why some women and children need safe places they can go to and the ignorance of those people, men and women, who think that their ideology is more important than the safety of those women and children is sick.

Morning everyone,
just posting to say that we have made several deletions on this thread. Please can we ask that everyone familiarise themselves with our trans thread moderation policy before continuing to post. Of course, goading and personal attacks etc are still covered by our well-worn workaday MN guidelines, which are so ancient that the URL still says 'netiquette'.

MyOtherUserNameIsAUnicorn · 04/07/2018 10:02

Interestingly I don't thing the English Women's Aid has made any such statement.

Thanks Hope.

In my experience over 40 years many many feminist lesbian and womens groups have been destroyed by men self identifying as women who are jealous / angry / resentful that we choose to meet without them. This has got worse over the last few years, and women are getting tired of this shit. Our energy is running out and we resent having to spend so much time pacifying and appeasing the boys. Womens Aid will be destroyed too if they take on the trans women's struggle. I fear for the organisations that are left.

FloralBunting · 04/07/2018 10:43

Yeah, fair cop, I've been deleted for a rather intemperate response to a Gadfly. I made it sarcastically clear how terribly sad I was that they couldn't use the three letter C word, but that those were the rules. Only a bit more aggressively sweary. Sorry about that, MN.

Women’s refuges who include male bodies within their clientele are putting women at risk of mental health issues, murder and suicide. This is literal violence and we should march.

Two women per week are murdered by a current of former partner right here in the the United Kingdom. Women’s Aid are now complicit in this.

LangCleg · 04/07/2018 12:05

@HopeMumsnet - that's how you do it! Well done that woman.

Pratchet · 04/07/2018 12:58

Yes Cath: Women's Aid, the Secretary of State for Women and the Women's Minister are all complicit.

Considering the fact that the on-line version of the Freedom Programme costs £12 per person it really is beyond scandalous that mumsnet still haven't provided the training for all their moderators. If they had then the deplorable response to the 'A woman is an adult female human thread', might have been averted.

And just like that; another safe space gone.

Why can't trans people set up their own shelters? We had to. And now it's being taken away

womanformallyknownaswoman · 04/07/2018 16:56

Women brutalised by male violence don't want male bodies in their space at the best of times, never mind in refuges-Women's Aid Wales have drunk the Kool-Aid and don't realise it'll be the death of them and the women in their "care" - shame on them

womanformallyknownaswoman · 04/07/2018 17:01

Oh shit - this isn't Women's Aid Wales but "As a charity, since 1992 we’ve been working to help ensure that women in Wales can enter the workplace, develop their skills and build rewarding careers. We work closely with the government, academics and industry to influence the development of policies."

The thread title is misleading - I'll report it

Janie143 · 04/07/2018 17:17

It says in the document it is a joint statement with Welsh women's aid.

MyOtherUserNameIsAUnicorn · 04/07/2018 17:24

It's Women's Aid alongside the other agencies... they were too welsh for me to spell this morning Blush

My mistake

However the statement on the Welsh Women's Aid website is different in focus to the one linked to in the post

Welsh Women’s Aid unites with women’s organisations in Wales to welcome the UK Government consultation on reforming the Gender Recognition Act
Welsh Women’s Aid unites with women’s organisation in Wales to welcome the UK Government consultation on reforming the Gender Recognition Act:
Eleri Butler, CEO of Welsh Women’s Aid said:
“Welsh Women’s Aid stands together with women’s organisations in Wales – WEN Wales, Chwarae Teg and Women Connect First – to support the need for Gender Recognition Act reform, so we welcome today’s published consultation.
As the umbrella body in Wales working to prevent violence against women, we recognise that all forms of violence against women share characteristics that are linked to gendered social norms and expectations. Dismantling gender stereotypes and norms as a system of oppression that perpetuates women’s inequality is vital if we are to make any inroad into preventing violence against women and to achieving equality for women and girls.
It’s essential that all survivors of abuse have equal access to safety, protection and support. Services for survivors of abuse in Wales already support trans women and trans men in refuges and community services, and they assess every survivor on a case by case basis in order to best respond to their needs, in line with the Equality Act 2010. We also welcome UK Government’s earlier confirmation that there are no proposals to change the Equality Act 2010 which enables organisations to continue to provide single-sex services where needed and reinforces the continued need for disaggregated data to monitor sex and gender-based discrimination.
We will be working with our sister organisations and engaging with members to respond to this consultation so that any new processes are appropriate, fair and have no unintended consequences.”
