We are easing into next month after much broken sleep, family interruptions, uninvited wildlife and internal freeflowing water.

The naughty corner is available for all of us to crawl into for respite. No birdies allowed. Only water is a peaceful fountain. Three images: first large wildlife attempting house entry, then cartoon about burst pipes. And the last one is for Bower and her new bathroom Grin

Oh no Foxes and SC, no one needs a burst pipe and flood, or bird, poo and soot, at 4am! What a nightmare. Hope the clean up wasn’t too bad SC and hope your DH gets it all sorted out quickly Foxes

Sorry about the lack of other personals. I really must stop reading the thread in dribs and drabs, as I forget everything when it comes to posting.

I got most of my to do list done yesterday except hoovering upstairs, so that’s on the list for this afternoon. We’ve spent the morning on the beach but it was starting to get busy so we didn’t venture back down after lunch. We’ll go out into the garden after DD’s quiet time I think. I did a good chunk of weeding yesterday and got the new pots out the front, although no planting done as it turns out DH gave the compost to MIL Hmm. A bit more weeding is on the cards later.

Ta da:
✅ beds made
✅ s & s
✅ LOL washed and out on line
✅ yoga
✅ DW emptied and breakfast / lunch bits in
✅ budget worked out for the month (payday! Smile)
✅ upstairs bins emptied

Got some clean washing to put away and a bit of general tidying to do as well as the hoovering and weeding later. But for now I’m enjoying just sitting far too much to be productive. It’s nice and cool in the naughty corner Grin

Absolutely, KT. Lisette, I'm thinking a red tap, a white tap, a mixer setting for rosé (yes, I do know they're not really mixed) and a small fountain for champagne? 😁 Bower, could your plumber quote for us? 🤣.

It is obviously Wildlife Week here in Flyland, as we have had an email from 2 doors down about a rat in their shed, which might explain why Megahound is so very interested in the back of the garage right now. Bugger.

On the plus side, DS3 has now spent almost an hour in the paddling pool and my sugar-free elderflower cordial is tasty.

Well there's still a hole in the living room. I'm quietly fuming that I mopped the kitchen and downstairs loo yesterday and it's now all filthy and I hoovered the living room into the corners and did the skirting boards and now the carpet has been pulled up!

So today's flying has mostly been tidying upstairs, s&s bathroom and we have now been able to use the washing machine and dishwasher phew. Needless to say I haven't attempted any downstairs cleaning whatsoever , I'm leaving dh to it whilst I keep the dc out of trouble 😂

I do need to venture downstairs soon to make my lasagne 🤔

...Ta Da found you. Just have a quiet moment in the shade.

Finally caught up on thread but may get things muddle.
Jigolo we haven’t got a plumber now he is going for an operation and isn’t available for three weeks D the man is trying to get hold of another recommended by accident prone joiner who had to go back to hospital as in so much pain. Not sure how high the roof is.
So bathroom all tiled bar the window( it is in the middle of the shower ) the tiles look good. Mainly white with mosaics from Topps tiles aqua, grey, blue, mauve anda deep blue. Row of four then top row of two. Going to have a look now. Don’t think shower will be ready this weekend. What’s another week? I could send the builder he is a sweetie and has a laugh too good banter.
SC I am supposed to be in Arran now. BF son has been going for a couple of years as his in-laws have been going about twenty years so BF and I thought maybe get somewhere between us or tents. DS1 went last year and loved it he also went to Rum.

I think we might have been to that village in France it sounds familiar. I love the southern Brittany coast. So yes I would be up for that stop off.

On no to the bird and soot just when you have enough to do.

Foxes arrggghhh! What a mess for you. Couldn’t happen in the daytime oh no.

Zoo you are so ungrateful about your presents🎁 from scoutcat.
Lane sounds a good idea lots of teachers with families have a day or two off. Good idea about the house because you can switch off and listen to music/ radio.

I missed the Bristol house too damn will try on catch up. We have a fire stick no sky.

Lisette love the memes especially my one. DH would love that.🤣
Cherry waves to everyone🥰

Ta Das
Stripped bed.
Duvet cover and sheet in WM
Made pancakes with black currants in( I defrosted some and some left over) for breakfast.
Fed chickens.
Made carrot cake for chicken giver.
LoL clothes
Made chocolate cake for us at DHs request.
LOL towels
Meds for cat and took her outside for a bit. Ear is minging you can see it better outside. Still putting drops every day. Never had a cat with so much wax. It is just one ear too.
Heated last nights curry for DH I had a tomato Checked on hens as Persephone was making a right noise. The others wouldn’t let her in the coop I think. Checked around garden.
Completed email survey from Unison about going back.
Read posts on here.

Need to find something for tonight to go with salad.
Could manage a nap.

No painting today. Door nearly finished. Need to go to glazier now. DH said no hurry since joiner fell off roof.

Oh yes and DH sent for Women’s Weekly for me which started today.

Crikey - a second thread! - Thank you very much Lisette [flowers!]
Fantastic meme that with the bear! Grin Grin And agree we need to install those wine taps in the naughty corner immediately! Grin

That (from previous thread) you are on a roll today Star Star Star

As are you Zoo your list is amazing Star Star Star And bravo Scoutcat!

And congrats re: ruthlessness in decluttering dept Lane! Needs must!

Spent some wonderful childhood holidays on the Isle of Arran Bower what a shame you aren't there now ... hopefully soon ... that's what I call "proper" wild countryside .... . Hope you find a plumber to finish off bathroom soon too! Not nice to have it hanging! Congrats on your list - glad to see cat still hanging in there - and absolutely love the idea of a hen called Persephone Grin

So lovely to be able to go to the beach KTCluck!

Eek at potential rat Megiddo!

Foxes oh no that all sounds so stressful - especially after all of your cleaning! I really feel for you and Mr Foxes being confronted with leaks and more DIY when everything is already stressful balancing work and childcare and no telly! I hope your day is improving anyway Brew for now and Wine for later! Lasagne sounds like the perfect antidote!

If it's any consolation, I spent most of the morning cleaning up the literal fall-out from bird incident last night and found a second young pigeon wandering around in a daze! Shock Called dh to lock the dogs in and have put it in the rockery under lots of ivy with a bowl of water and a plate of strawberries ... here's hoping it recovers poor thing ... .

You'd think that dd going off on a long bike ride with friends would mean more time for me to get stuff done but not apparently if it involves assessing various t-shirt and short combos, various hair styles, and a lot of tidying up and folding of rejected outfits, ending up with her choosing the very sensible and fine outfit I'd suggested earlier Grin Grin Grin. She's very excited to be with friends (same group of three) again! Smile even if they have to sd.

Dh most have absorbed a bit of my venting because he offered to spend his lunch hour sorting the terrace today Shock and actually asked what he could do to be helpful! Shock This was a first!
I said that sweeping would be incredibly helpful and moving the four heaviest pots and heavy parasol stand during the process would be great. Apparently in man-speak this translates to: move all the flowers that love sun-shine and are standing on an ornamental table in the sun in the middle of the terrace for a reason, to hideous black metal shelving found in basement and placed along one wall where they will wither and die. Ignore all heavy pots, do not wield a brush, try and fix parasol and break it Hmm and then leave all equipment such as brushes, gloves, rubbish bags strewn everywhere for me to clean up. FFS! If you didn't laugh you would cry!

Still he has apparently fixed my wms ... tentatively trying out a couple of towels in each now ... and watching for smoke ... .

Ta da: (no admin work today - hurrah!)
tidied and cleaned up all the literal fall-out from pigeon gate
emptied dw
ate a lettuce leaf for lunch Grin
cleaned kitchen surfaces and sink and bin
sorted recycling for tomorrow morning
dog-walk
wms on
e-mailed fruit and veg man
e-mailed siblings re: Zoom call timings
e-mailed dd school
45 mins ironing

Haven't done any cooking at all yet so about to make butternut squash and pepper soup for weekend lunches and a ratatouille to go with cold roast chicken tonight, which we were meant to eat on newly tidied and brushed terrace fhs Angry

Waves to Expletive and to everyone else!

Well done everyone! Some great Flying on here today! You are inspiring me on to greater and further choring efforts Smile

sc aww that's sweet and your dd wants your opinion on her outfit! And hilarious that she went with your first choice 😂 my dd at only 6 years has quite her own sense of style already , she likes to select outfits depending on what mood she is in, so she'll do sporty, or party or "serious" if she has important work to do 😂 today she is wearing cut off denim shorts and a plain t-shirt which is apparently "builder" to help daddy!

The house looks almost normal again hooray!! I have to say my dh has done a great job today, leak is fixed (we hope!) . The carpet hasn't been put back properly yet but you wouldn't really notice, bit of a lump in the floor because he hasn't got all the right bits to finish as yet.

I've mopped downstairs (again!) And dh has hoovered (again!) And the lasagne is cooking.

Phew. What a day. And I said yesterday I'd have a break from alcohol as with dh recent birthday we had quite a lot of wine and have had more than usual!

Oh SC how disappointing that your DH’s offer to help was a let down. I bet he’s so proud of himself for trying too. Maybe next time he offers you will have to sit and supervise him with a glass of wine in hand Love that your DD approved of your outfit choice.m (eventually). Mine is like Foxes’ and has very firm ideas of what she likes, and at 3 already shoots me withering looks if I dare to suggest something doesn’t quite work. I can’t see that changing as she hits her teens Grin

Zoo if you can get that much done on so little sleep I think you’d actually be superwoman if you managed a full night. Hope last night was a better one.

Foxes so glad yesterday’s disaster is just about sorted. Good work by your DH (mine wouldn’t have a clue Grin).

Lane well done on decisive toy decluttering!

Waves to Lisette, Bower, That, Fluff, Dancing, miss, Meg, Hazel, Expletive, Chic and I know I’ve missed a couple.

Yesterday went well. We had a few hours in the garden and I got lots of weeding done, then DH came home from work, and joined in straight away! He dug out a huge weed (virtually a bush Blush) and then did the pots and the front for me. There’s still one flower bed to tackle which I’ll try and do today.

Absolute gorgeous morning here so I woke feeling motivated and got up early:

✅ a run!! It was very pleasant although there was more walking than running. Followed by a glass of water in the garden to cool me down until DD woke up
✅ weigh in - I’m 3lbs down!
✅ beds made
✅ LOL in, including some more from the collection on the utility bench
✅ both DD and I dressed, then breakfast in the garden.

To do:
🐦 empty DW
🐦 hang LOL on line
🐦 rest of weeding

I’ll be happy with that to be honest! Have a lovely day everyone.

Morning! Zoo, very glad to see you safely extricated yourself from DD's chest of drawers. SC, I think I'd have been thinking murderous thoughts about my DH and his "helping" far sooner than you! Your reserves of patience are immense. How lovely that your DD wanted your opinion on what she wore. I've not had the dressing on mine since they were about 2! Foxes I love the sound of DD's outfits that match personas according to what she's doing. I once read somewhere that it's good to arrange one's wardrobe by "persona" outfits according to what you're doing, so you have a Capable Mum outfit, a Going To The Office outfit, an Arse Kicking outfit and a Collapsed In A Heap Are You All Still Here? Outfit (that last one is PJs or a onesie from 4pm on a Friday. No? Just me there then 🤣).

Today I will mostly be wearing my Clearing Up After Everyone Else outfit (on my left hand side) and my Sorting Out Provision For DS3 (Non-Combative) on my right hand side (that means paler lipstick and no body armour. The Combative version is rather more the American Footballer look) as there is much to do on both counts! 😣

Yesterday's ta das:
♥️ Got a quote from the Rat Man. Have to clarify today, but I fear he means 3 visits at £180 per visit, not £180 all in 😱
🧡 4 LOL in the end, 2 dried and away, 1 in line overnight, 1 washed overnight
💛 Lamb tagine was a triumph (hoorah for the slow cooker) and DH said he would marry me all over again just for that 💕. He is a sweetheart really even if he drives me round the bend sometimes.
💚 Socially distanced coffee in the park on 2 different picnic rugs with an actual, real-life, 3 dimensional friend. Can't believe how much better I feel for it.

Unfortunately, I finished the evening with 2 large glasses of wine, an ice-cream, 2 slices of chocolate cake and a minor tantrum, resulting in my deactivating facebook and deleting the twitter app. Not proud of myself, but I need a break and the political / Super Woke winding-up that's going in is doing my head in.

Morning all Brew

kTCluck/Foxes/Meg I must admit I was surprised that dd wanted sartorial approval from me as she normally has very strong opinions about what she wants to wear too! And I have reached the point in life where I don't understand teen fashion. I look at all the separates on the page of an on-line shop and for the first time in my life have no idea about how you are meant to put them together.

She's off to school today to collect her belongings from her locker for the last time Sad. And then she only has to go in for one exam in June (happily the powers that be have decided she doesnt have to do any more) and that's it for this school year. Sad

On a positive front though, we hope to be seeing more of her friends (second generation French, Spanish, Italian) this summer, as normally they would be going back to their grandparents back "home". And unusually, most of them will be around for her birthday which is bang in the middle of the holidays.

Ta da:
carried dirty laundry downstairs
put out more cardboard recycling only to find the bin men had come and gone
opened up and aired entire house
emptied DW and stacked again
made breakfast for dh and me
ironed shirt dd wants to wear today
walked furries

Feel tired now and a bit ick for some reason, so just having a glass of ginger ale and then I'll start on my actual list.

Hope today goes ok Zoo

Ooh That I am sewing some bunting ATM although weirdly it's the autumnal/winter variety as have loads for summer although might make some more as we are thinking of buying a bell tent or similar ... .When I say "we" strictly speaking that should read "me". Trying to justify the price on the grounds that we probably won't be buying any flights this summer.

Megiddo arf at split personality attire! Grin. We had to pay a lot for mouse man (or "Mr Vermin" as he's known here), last year, but it was worth the money. Having had a lots of experience in this area (unfortunately) you can pay loads for some bloke who distributes the poison boxes and leaves after 5 mins. You need someone with a real nose for the job who enjoys the thrill of the chase as it were. Mr Vermin is like a rodent version of the child-catcher ...Grin. ...he spent hour here (I swear at one point he was almost sniffing the air) following all their trails ...very odd character but good at his job! If you can find one like that, you are on to a winner! Lamb tagline sounds delish!

Right , had better get back to it. Have a good day everyone!

Woohoo, got some good news this morning - been approved by HA to have a stair rail fitted in our house :) shame it’s needed but such is life. They’ve kindly said it’s fine to wait until we are happy to have workers in, so we don’t have to get it done straight away. Then they will also look at possible bathroom adaptations.

Super sleepy - Cagletini was wired due to a late nap and then DD1 was really anxious about various news things so we lay down watching stranger things and then Big Bang Theory. I don’t think I’ll get much done today!
