Cute dogs howl! And love the KCC images lisette :o thanks for a fab month 💐 Yes meg I remember you saying you’d do June, all good with me!

🤣🤣🤣 at Alarming Amounts of Buttock meg - thankfully DS tends to outgrow trousers on the ankle end first so we avoid such horrors 😅

I’m very much acting like it’s 10am but I should really get off the sofa and at least have lunch (the incentive being that it’s reheated Chinese! :o). What I really do need to do is sort out DS’ home ed for the rest of term - I had such grand plans for this in the past week but haven’t even printed a single thing. I’ll just have to power through when the others are back from food/meds errand. I can do DD1’s maths for at least the next week too (I might write her a note to get the remaining English stuff printed at school tomorrow 😳).

Also must watch the Hairspray streaming before it disappears from YouTube! So all that will hopefully at least give me plenty of time to myself before we are back to term time.

Speaking of term time, when does everyone plan to “break up” from lockdown school this year?! We’ve always followed term times in HE, so I would say DS could stop when DD’s school shuts, but then there are rumours of summer holiday opening etc so...?! I guess I’ll just plan for six more weeks’ worth of HE? Although I think I’m going to have to insist on a little maths and spelling through the holidays for DD1 in which case I’ll do the same for DS. Nothing much but things just fall out of her head so easily that September will be even harder for her :( so I need to get thinking about that too.

Right... reheated noodles await! 😋🍜

howlatthetrees · 31/05/2020 13:01

Thank you lisette, I prefer holidays in the UK I think. I always have, the kids love the caravan sites we go to and love the outdoors. You can’t beat it.

I tried a few different ones, meg, but the best fabric softener for me is 5 cups hot water, 3 cups vingers and 1 cup hair conditioner. If you want a nice smell you can add a few drops of essential oils too. Mix the water and hair conditioner together then add vinegar and essential oils and pour into container. For the washing up liquid we use hot water, lemon juice and if you want a good scrub a spoon of bicarb of soda. I’ll link the laundry detergent one that I follow as it’s quite long! wholefully.com/homemade-borax-free-laundry-detergent/ we try to be as eco friendly and zero waste as possible.

Smartcasual · 31/05/2020 13:08

Howl both of your furries area absolutely gorgeous!

Bower is a fellow chicken-keeper on the thread btw.

Wow @ making your own detergent; I am very interested in that. I like using natural products for cleaning.

And last but not least, many congrats on your pregnancy and hope the nausea eases soon!

Missed the bit about the deer Fluffiest how wonderful (except when they eat all the garlic bulbs and onions you've just spent three hours planting which happened to my late pa. He used to swear that they would lurk behind the beech hedge waiting for him to finish gardening, before they snuck in overnight and undid all of his good work Smile)

Well done re: the toning up Lisette not only aesthetically good but it means you burn the calories better too I think (well I gather that's the case from all the low carb bumph I have been reading recently even though I am only following that in part; I like potatoes too much! Grin).

Lisette1940 · 31/05/2020 14:39

I had a rather big lunch. Just felt hungry today so made sure I ate properly.

On a side note, I can't remember who volunteered to run the June thread. April seems such a long time ago now!

Bowerbird5 · 31/05/2020 14:47

I’m here😀
Welcome Howl.
I was very tired when I posted last night ( it was very late) and it either ate my post or I fell asleep before pressing the post it button.

What type of chickens do you have Howl?🐓🐓🐓

So to answer the question I was up to... Something like what do you most hope for in the next couple of weeks...A SHOWER ! Still hasn’t finished. He didn’t turn up yesterday 😖and was coming today but sent a message to say he wasn’t allowed out to play. 🤣 quite right too it’s Sunday.

So I have been to Dublin this morning while DH queued at the butchers. Yes, we have one open on a Sunday. He said only three in front but when he left about a dozen queued and they were only allowing four the other week and now it is ten😖 there is room for about 6 at a push. It sells alcohol and some things like flour, jams, chutneys, bread and a couple of fridges with cold meat, cheese served and a cooked meat pies, sausage rolls etc self serve. There is a double row of fruit and veg and big bags of potatoes. Lots of the produce is local. Most of the meat, cream, milk and puddings all local. SC might know where I am talking about but there are two new large stores since she lived near here. One is about 20 minutes from us the larger one is half an hour.
So I was back from Dublin just as DH pulled up and we are having a bbq tonight. I was brought up with them. It was always dad and if we were out we made our own fire and brought a grid to put on top. Wouldn’t be allowed now. When I was old enough we had more at home because I took dad’s place when he was away at sea.
Favourite mmm Cumberland sausage, garlic chicken or lamb ( bit hard eating that now as chickens nearby and lambs in the field behind hopping and skipping) germ frankfurters the proper ones.
DH likes kebabs and seems to have brought enough for a big family.

Lane thank That made my night ( I did put that first on yesterday’s post) and you seem to be managing well. Hooray for the stairs and bathroom gadgets. I would just like a shower lies down and has a Cagletini style tantrum😩 I haven’t had one since 13 th February! He quipped people will be keen to stay at least 2 metres away. 🤧👃🏻

Ta Das yesterday
Bed made

Bowerbird5 · 31/05/2020 14:49

XLisette thank you loved the meme. And thank you for leading the thread this month great job you can have a “shiny” 🐼

Stilllivinginazoo · 31/05/2020 14:54

Hi guys, sorry I slid off for a couple of days, been mad here!
Howl welcome.ive got 4dc.eldest flew nestrest rabbleAre dd16,ds14,dd12I'd have loved more...
I live kids/babies so very very excited to have one back on threadthat was last year's provider, lane before that❤️❤️❤️❤️
So I've spent 48 hrs washing, peg on line, picking up behind laziest DC on earth, bring in, next load out, iron load bought in.repeat.repeat.repeat....
I've achieved over 10 loads now,all wash, dry, ironed and put away

Dd2 has become very low and is barking it me for even daring to ask she wants any lunch.its been exhausting..
Then cap it all dd1 was go pop by after pop shops for us and she messengers me her fiance did a viewingthursday.friday clients sister tested positive for covid..so yesterday they had drive to the testing centre for swabbing.he has scarred lungs, she has asthma so I was worried silly.she informs me "I made him wear a mask and gloves and spray the fuck out of him with Dettol aerosol on his return before i would let him in as try keep our home a safe space" so she's hopeful the precautions are enough to dodge the bullet for now.results are back Wednesday...she also told me places zoflora everything in house that still for 2minutes

foxessocks · 31/05/2020 15:49

lane I'm hoping dd will be back at school week after next and if she is their term is due to finish on the 17th July I think...but obviously that may all change!

We had burgers on the BBQ for lunch with chips and onion rings 😋 I was all prepared for a pretty chilled out afternoon after that but dd decided she wanted to declutter!! So we've done all her clothes and, her games, one shelf in her wardrobe and her cuddle toys ShockShock and a friend wants to take the clothes and some of the toys for her dd so it won't even be in the house for too long!

Dd has now declared it "time for a cup of tea" , so I've put a dvd on for the dc and hopefully I can sit down for a bit now Grin

ExpletiveDelighted · 31/05/2020 17:11

Yay! I've finally caught up. But my battery is nearly flat.

I took last week off work as it was half term but have been in today (I work Sundays on site, my other hours flexibly at home). It has been such a restful week, I think I needed it. I have had several SD meetups with friends in the park and so has DS. Only blot has been that DD has been under the weather and out of sorts but she's gradually returning to normal. My two are presumably going to school through to their normal end of term dates in July as they are low priority for return but the schools are keeping them busy at home (DD has exams this week).

So, things to look forward to. It's our wedding anniversary this week. We weren't planning to do anything in particular as DS should have had GCSE exams before, during and after the day but will get a takeaway and some wine. BBQ - we're a but BBQ'd out at the moment but you can't beat a sausage IMO. Love Greek salad, homemade potato salad, tabbouleh and crusty bread with it.

Lisette - thank you so much for your thread leading, it has been great with some lovely KCC inspired chats.

Howl - welcome to the thread, two DC here, teens as you may have gathered. Caravan sounds great. We do holiday abroad sometimes but are not very adventurous travellers and love the UK.

Zoo - fingers crossed for DD1's fiance.

Lisette1940 · 31/05/2020 18:17

Twas a pleasure to do the thread Smile. Thanks for your kind comments.

Spectacularly lazy day after a good start. Tummy feels slightly off so I'm just going to wedge myself on the couch.

Ironing is almost done. I think I'll start back up tomorrow and just enjoy this evening.

OP posts:
Fluffiest · 31/05/2020 19:33

I'm feeling unreasonably cross. I was just drawing the curtains in DD's room when I noticed that a bunch of my neighbours across the road were sitting on the wall next door to our house. Next door has no one living in it at the moment. Thought it was odd because they normally sit in their own front yards. Came downstairs and they were moving back across the street but they left behind an empty coke can and lolly stick on the wall.

I know it's not the crime of the century but it is just so simply rude in my eyes that I saw red. We get a lot of litter chucked in to our garden and I've always suspected it might be the teenage boys in this family because they are out on the street a lot at night. But didn't know for sure and I've never said anything and mostly try to smile and be friendly to all our neighbours.

But this just made me hoping mad but didn't know what to do about it. I'm rubbish at confrontation and I wasnt sure which one left the litter. So I've just stomped outside, tried to make pointed eye contact with everyone left on the street, picked the rubbish up and gone back inside slamming the door behind me. I'm hoping it's enough to bring just a little bit of embarrassment.

Huff! anyway now I need to calm down before I spend the night imagining angry conversations which ends in them changing their litter bug ways!

Lisette1940 · 31/05/2020 19:55

That's not unreasonably cross Fluffiest. Sounds like you are being very reasonable and restrained. Infuriating isn't it? In Ireland we call it a 'mé féin' or myself attitude: Someone who acts from self-interest, rather than the common good or the national interest.

OP posts:
LaneBoy · 31/05/2020 19:55

Not unreasonable fluff that sucks.

I need to read some more of my book club book today really as I didn’t for a couple of days. And need to finish printing stuff off and planning the rest of term, made good progress but had to come down for dinner. Feel a bit less emotional today but I deleted FB yesterday (the app, not my account - just want a break) and am ignoring Messenger conversations unless they are nice ones :)

Lisette1940 · 31/05/2020 20:19

Does anyone know who's leading the thread from tomorrow? I think there was a volunteer back on the April thread but my head's like a sieve and I can't remember who.

OP posts:
ExpletiveDelighted · 31/05/2020 20:45

Meg volunteered in her 11.13 post. Thank you Meg.

THATscurryfungeBITCH · 31/05/2020 20:59

Should have waited til they cleared off and then posted through their front door fluff or picked up and took back to them while saying "yoo hoo my dear, i think you forgot something!"

JigoloHarMegiddo · 31/05/2020 21:08

Yes, I'm happy to lead June. Now DS3 is in bed, I'll set up the new thread. Back in a minute!

Lisette1940 · 31/05/2020 21:24

Thanks ED I hadn't spotted it. And thank you too Meg ♥️. June focus is drinking water apparently

OP posts:
howlatthetrees · 31/05/2020 21:28

Thank you everyone for the puppy love. They’re both gorgeous (they’re both girls and my only companions in a house full of boys). I didn’t know there was another chicken keeper, that’s great!. DH and I decided we want to be eco friendly when we had the DC, we’re vegetarian and also don’t have dairy products, so we only really eat eggs that are from animals, and only our own chickens eggs. So we decided to make our own household cleaners, I do enjoy it. Our family think we’re crazy hippies though😂. Thank you for your congratulations!

lisette I think meg offered to do it, from what she said on page 3.

bower Sarah is a golden comet, Jemima is a leghorn and Vanessa we aren’t sure, the farmer we got her from said neither he or the breeder were sure what breed she is and they think she might be the product of a romance between a chicken and a game bird (she’s my favourite). I’m sorry about your shower!, that’s frustrating. I hope your BBQ was nice!

zoo that’s lovely, you’ve got a lovely mix of both boys and girls too!. I have all boys here and have a feeling this one will be a boy too, I’d be shocked if I have a girl I don’t know what to do with girls😂. I’m glad to be having the thread baby! I’ll keep my fingers crossed the results are negative. Enjoy your self care❤️

It sounds like you’ve been super busy foxes, but at least it’s a job done.

ed I’m glad you’ve had a restful week, and I hope you have a lovely anniversary. I’m glad to hear that DD is feeling better!. The uk is great for holidays!.

lisette I hope you feel better soon!

That would annoy me to fluffy

I deleted Fb a while ago lane it’s not a nice place for me anymore.

Well today has been lovely, we had a BBQ to begin with, then DH finished the stick on tiles in the van. Now just the blinds, floor and cushions to do (have attatched pics). Then we went for a really long drive around where I grew up, and we stopped off to have a big run and walk around a bit. It was lovely. DS3 is gettinf really steady on his feet now and was toddling around with his brothers, it was so sweet.

Ta Da:
❤️finished the tiles
🧡took washing off the line, ironed, put away
💛mopped and hoovered from our dirty feet
💚bathed the kids
💙put DC to bed
💜cleaned up from bbq
❤️watered fruit, veg and herbs

June thread is here!

See you all next month.

JigoloHarMegiddo · 31/05/2020 21:58

Ok, now I've set up next month I can finish off May here.

Howl, that looks lovely and I'm so envious you've been able to set up your family to be as eco-friendly as possible. We used to do a lot more eco-friendly stuff when we lived in the south-west with only 2 DC, but closer to London with more children it's a lot harder!

Fluff, it's so irritating when people take advantage like that. I often find the early morning dog walk is part litter-pick too.

Lane, well done on deleting the fb app. I feel much better having got off there.

ED, glad DD is on the up again and happy wedding anniversary this week!

foxes, good decluttering there, she'll be a fledgling in future I'm sure! zoo, you fibber, you can't have got to the end of the laundry basket. I don't believe that's possible! Grin

Bower, really hoping you get the shower fixed soon, or I'd be lying down having a tantrum too.

Today's Ta Das
💖 DS3's English homework done! It turns out if you listen carefully to what's in the lesson and take notes, it's really quick 🤦‍♀️
🧡 DS2's hovel room tidied
💛 2 x LOL as a result!
💚 Bunting finished and hung in the garden
💙 Work planned with DS2
💜 Diary / organisational system planned with DS2
🖤 Noisy argument with DD(15) about why she can't go to the Black Lives Matter march in South London next weekend. She is furious and non-comprehending 🤷‍♀️
💖 Delicious steak sandwiches for tea
🧡 kitchen cleared
💛 haircut and bath for DS3. DH rather overdid the haircut . DS3 rather cross.
💚 June Flylady thread started
💙 about to put DW on, close down the weekend and half-term Sad and make a cup of tea

🍒🙋‍♀️ to all, see you tomorrow on the new thread!

Lisette1940 · 31/05/2020 23:00

OP posts:
KTCluck · 31/05/2020 23:02

Thanks so much for may’s thread Lisette. Today’s KCC made me chuckle. You’ve done a fab job.

Fluff that is just so rude and lazy. I had similar anger last night on the the local beach when a family left a pile of glass bottles, cans and other rubbish. They passed several bins to get to the car park and had watched a couple walking along on a litter pick ten minutes earlier Angry. We picked them up, but shouldn’t have to.

Zoo fingers crossed for a negative test. It sounds like they are taking sensible precautions so they’d be unlucky to catch it.

Thanks SC and well done on 4 days of eating well! I suspect my weight won’t have gone down any over the weekend (wine, pizza, Sunday lunch) however I resisted ice cream twice and had no snacks, plus other meals were low cal so I’m quite proud.

Lane I’m considering deleting the FB app too. It isn’t good for mental health right now.

Ooh Meg I’d be so cross at the kitchen / freezer thing. Hope it hadn’t all defrosted. Thanks for volunteering for June.

Hope the shower gets sorted ASAP Bower

We have had a lovely weekend, spent mainly on the beach. Had a socially distanced glass bottle of wine with DSis last night too.

Ta Das:
✅ ironing for the week done and hung up
✅ DD’s bag packed and outfit laid out for going back to nursery tomorrow Confused
✅ vacuumed sand up x 2
✅ tidied DD’s room
✅ decluttered coat stand
✅ washed DD’s winter coats and put away for next year (if they fit)
✅ work breakfasts prepared for next 2 days
✅ started fabulous new planner, goals set for the month etc

See you all on the new thread!

Lisette1940 · 31/05/2020 23:02
