I am sure some will be able to be altered - but it's a really crappy time to close a school for voting when there are parties, school plays and the end of term atmosphere.

There are other reasons as well - but this is just one that may not have been thought about.

A minimum of two schools round here are used as polling stations. Usually both primary.

All our polling stations arent in schools now (my area i mean) theyve gradually moved into church halls, scout huts and so on.

I know I've had a couple of beers, but this made me laugh. You are absolutely right, OP. School where I am a governor is used as a polling station, although they use a side classroom and keep the school open, usually. And it is the nativity play that week.

Sure they'll manage though.

I’m sure that we can cope with a few fewer Christmas events ffs. We are going through the biggest political turmoil in generations and you are worrying about this nonsense.

OP, you might be being daft - obviously the election is more important - but the government is genuinely worried people will think like you and be too annoyed to vote for them.
