So, takeaway ordered. They have added on a delivery charge. Would you still tip the delivery person ??

In the past I've always tipped. I was a waitress many moons ago and the tips were what made it with while.
Some local takeaways don't charge delivery so I'm happy to give a few pounds to the delivery person, but the ones that do charge, are they giving that money to the driver and then they're getting tipped too?

I just round up. Tonight's pizza was roughly £8 UK equivalent to feed 4 of us, so no hardship to round up to equivalent of £8.50. Alternative would have been one of us scrabbling for small denomination notes.

Not in the UK & the culture here is that fast food is incredibly cheap, but delivery guys usually get tipped (& yes our food arrives quickly because we do tip).

I always give them a bit. Last delivery was £27.30 so I just gave him £30.

If it arrives on time, I tip them. If it's late, no I don't.

I can't believe people don't! Do you know how much those drivers get paid, not to mention the wear and tear on their cars (possibly their only asset). I am pretty sure it's no one's chosen career.
My ex did it for a while during a period of unemployment and said, which didn't surprise me at all, the best tippers were people from council estates and the poorest areas.

My DH said the same when he did it.
Delivery drivers only get the delivery charge so I always tip.

No...
I only think tipping should be for exceptional service you want to recognise, not the standard. Tipping culture is unhealthy imo.

We normally do, about a pound or two usually.

We use the same place over and over though so the norm is that we get to know a driver from the curry place.

My friend delivers for a small Chinese takeaway and she says the tips are what she saves towards car maintenance and fuel as the shop doesn't cover that.

I do, even though I hate the concept. People who are underpaid aren't going to benefit from my dislikes.

I do, yes.

Delivery drivers don't get paid much, they're lucky to make min wage after fuel.

I do because it's a bit of a thankless job. I don't tip often, but I do to delivery drivers and taxi drivers. (If they are on time and are pleasant!) Usually about 10%.
