Daily Practice - March

Well February seemed to fly by. Maybe by the end of March we’ll be doing some outdoors yoga 🪴 🧘‍♂️.
Today I’m splitting yoga up morning and afternoon, did Charlie Follow’s Improver and Sarah Beth Level 2 yogalates this morning, will do a half primary David Swenson practice later.

@RobinEllacotStrike it sounds like you are definitely in the yoga zone ☺️.
I did 30 min full body CF intermediate yesterday and followed it with crow and headstand practice. Today I’m doing an hour of Sarah Beth with minimal cues.
I just started reading Mark Stephen’s Yoga Sequencing book, it’s very good, and I’m really looking forward to working on my own sequences so I can do them peacefully outside this summer.

Hello, feel like I've been absent for a bit. Fallen of the SB calendar, not sure the yogalates that it's heavy on this month is my thing.
Did a 20 min recovery full body stretch yesterday after a long hilly run which was perfect. I've done some others this week but nothing very inspiring. Been a bit run down and stressed, yoga would have helped maybe but I seemed to lack motivation.

Poisonwood · 17/03/2025 06:56

@Jumbojem I’m the same with the yogalates, I’ve stuck to Charlie Follows and Yogi Flight School instead for most of March. It won’t be helping that you’re feeling run down, hope it goes soon.

Well, my Monday class has been cancelled for at least six weeks, maybe indefinitely. Feel a little low, it was definitely the part of my yoga week that left me feeling the best physically and mentally. I did a 60 min CF Intermediate practice instead today, and had a long chat about yoga with my best friend (we both do it, but live a long distance from each other).

I’m going to work on sequencing my own free flows more.

RobinEllacotStrike · 18/03/2025 07:24

Oh no @Poisonwood what a shame to lose a great class like that. Totally get your sadness.

love the idea of sequencing your own flows. Flows in the pod have taken quite an adventurous turn in March & it’s good fun.

Poisonwood · 18/03/2025 17:18

@RobinEllacotStrike adventurous sounds lots of fun 😊

60 minute CF intermediate vinyasa today, very active. Continued reading the Sequencing book, it’s a solid read but nicely interesting.

I’ve been poorly again, not able to eat so am crazy weak. Obviously zero yoga but did day 1&2 of SB trauma calendar. Not loving the Yogalates either, like @Poisonwood & @Jumbojem , but I like to have something to follow along to

Poisonwood · 18/03/2025 21:47

I’m sorry to hear that @yogachick. Hope your strength returns quickly. Do you meditate at all, it may be a helpful tool on less physical days?

Yogachick · 19/03/2025 09:47

@Poisonwood I usually do but have been in too much pain. I’ll get back to it. Managed Day 3 of Trauma calendar today which was a nice upper body stretch, felt good after being bed bound for so long.

Poisonwood · 19/03/2025 17:41

20 min flow today. Feel really drained so thought that sensible as tomorrow I’ve got 2.5hours of class including Ashtanga.

OP posts:
RobinEllacotStrike · 21/03/2025 11:07

2.5 hour class sounds very exciting @Poisonwood

I did a double class last night - hot pod flow (very dynamic) and then a nurturing flow - you still get a sweat on but hold poses for longer. Really lovely treat for an evening (and nice change from morning yoga).

The hot pod flow this morning. Lots of twisting. So 3 classes in 14 hours & I'm feeling pleasently knackered.

Continuing to feel delightfully strong - after gaining so much weight and becoming extremly inactive and unfit (Archillies injury 2 years ago - not yoga related - took over a year to heal and severely limited movement, I couldnt even swim very well) its amazing how quickly my body has gained strength, flexibilty and power. And just how good I feel in myself.

I really feel like I am reclaiming myself, through yoga.

Yogachick · 21/03/2025 15:22

That sounds a wonderful combo @RobinEllacotStrike and wonderfully positive for your healing and getting strong again. It’s hard to start again when you’ve been fit.
twist from Trauma calendar I didn’t do yesterday, then a firm favourite brought to my attention by @Poisonwood ,20 min Rinse practice. 1st outdoor practice this year, a tad premature as it was chilly but always lovely with the sun shining. Anyone tried yoga socks ?

RobinEllacotStrike · 21/03/2025 16:28

these last few days have got me excited to be thinking about outdoor yoga.

I have a wee private classs I go to starting late spring/summer and there are a few outdoor yoga classes on the beach around here too over the warmer months. Bring it on!

Poisonwood · 22/03/2025 06:44

@RobinEllacotStrike So pleased you’re recovering in such a positive manner. Your yoga practices sound lovely.

@Yogachick ahh, I’m glad you still enjoy it - it’s a lovely practice isn’t it. I haven’t tried yoga socks but definitely need to get some for outdoor practice here in the Highlands 😆.

I did a very gentle CF video yesterday recommended by my best friend yesterday as still felt drained - Day 7 Yoga for Beginners. It had a nice twist in it that I’ve written down in my journal to remember to start incorporating. I think the drained feeling was worsened when I discovered on Thursday evening that that class is off for the next month at least too, so I will be completely classless for a while.

Today - I’ve meditated already, had a play with crow and headstand and am going to do a 60 min SB practice and a 60min CF one. Work on settling myself.

You mean the sticky kind of socks ?
I didn’t love them and didn’t stick with them ( pun not intended!). I found that they twisted and gathered around my feet uncomfortably as I moved, because they were obviously adhering to the mat or floor.

RobinEllacotStrike · 22/03/2025 16:18

Caught a bind today in Utthita Parsvakonasana/side angle for first time. Just on one side (couldn’t quite make it on 2nd side) but it’s progress & it felt fantastic.

Poisonwood · 22/03/2025 18:08

@MarkWithaC that’s good to know about the socks, thanks.

@RobinEllacotStrike that’s a lovely bind to get isn’t it!

Just did the Sarah Beth 60min power PLAY, lots of crow, side crow, tried but didn’t manage one called I think perching pigeon, it was quite fun.

60 min CF Spring Equinox practice: a peaceful, opening one. Candle meditation, and pranayama work.

OP posts:
Yogachick · 23/03/2025 17:39

Trauma Grounding meditation and the Sunflower flow,a nice 5 min practice

RobinEllacotStrike · 24/03/2025 08:31

45 minutes hot pod express flow.

some tricky balances and fun flow combos this morning.

I love how yoga is day by day, slowly reconnecting me with my body.

Poisonwood · 24/03/2025 19:21

@RobinEllacotStrike that sounds a nice practice.

An hour of standing poses today, wanted to work on alignment.

Morning yoga stretch from Trauma calendar.

RobinEllacotStrike · 25/03/2025 15:20

weird & unexpected yoga benefit - my typing has improved as my fingers are so much stronger & faster, less typos!

Poisonwood · 25/03/2025 22:14

@Yogachick hiw are you finding the trauma calendar for your energy levels?

@RobinEllacotStrike you reminded me of typing classes at High School many moons ago.

Today was half an hour of alignment focus and half an hour of meditation…needed both.

OP posts:
Yogachick · 26/03/2025 12:45

Hip stretch from Trauma calendar. It’s very low key @Poisonwood atm, think there’s more as I work through it. Any day I get to the mat is a bonus, given I’m so anti right now. But maybe I’m anti because of the inner work bringing stuff up…
