If I give up my job, because my employer has changed the hours and days of work, can I get JSA?

Currently work 12 hours a week, 3 hours a day over 4 days. No Saturdays or Sundays. Start at 11am

My new boss has changed everyone's working hours. He now wants me to move to a different department, and work 9.15 am until 12.15, still 4 days a week, but wants me (and everyone else) to work 3 Saturdays out of 4.
I'm not happy about this - mainly the being moved and working 3 out of 4 Saturdays. I've also asked if I can have Thursdays and Fridays as my days off when I am working a Saturday and been told no, it's too busy those days, you wil have Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
I was going to stay there until I got my CM registration through but ma thinking of quitting, would I be entitled to any JSA?

why cant you work those hours? do you not want to or is it child care etc. i think they may be more understanding dependant upon reason

To start at 9.15am, I'd need to get the 8.20 bus, which would mean putting the DSes into the breakfast club (£6.50 for both) every morning.
I also don't want to work 3 Saturdays a month. DH works 1 in 4, and he's obviously going to have to change that to workt eh 1 Saturday I am off.
I guess I jsut don't wnat to. 8 people hav eleft because of his new working "directive" as he calls it.
Some of the staff, supervisors, but not managers, are going to be working 6 out of 7 Saturdays

but can a married/cohabitating woman get JSA anyway?? arent you just expected to be "kept"
can't you just go for another job?

were you hoping for contribution based or income based jsa?
how many hours is your dh working? this affects income based jsa, if he is working full time it wont be applicable

also do you receive tax credits? you may not be able to receive jsa but might receive more child tax/working tax credit, put in what would be your income etc to entitled to website

If your DH works, you'll would probably not get income based JSA but may get contributions based JSA if you have paid enough NI contributions.

However, saying the hours dont suit you for personal reasons and handing in your notice will nean a sanction on JSA of (i think) 26 weeks. Not wanting to work a saturday would not be a valid reason for leaving a job.

Sounds like you might have a case for constructive dismissal. I'd see a solicitor about that tbh

saltire, I spoke to my DM who works for jobcentreplus. There was quite alot to take in, but it depends on the hours you work, your NI contributions over the last 2 years and so on. She suggested that this could be a case of constructive dismissal and said you should phone/email ACAS and ask their advice. There is also a helpline for job centre plus 0800 055 6688

Update.

I was told that I would be moving to a different part of the store, that my hours would change from 11-2 to 9.30-12.30(I was happy with this) and that I would need to work 2 in3 Saturdays.

Then I went into work a couple of weeks ago and was told by my current manager that I wouldn't be moving departments, I would be working the same hours and I wouldn't be doing weekends(I currently don't do wekends)
None of this was put in writing, she told me verbally when i was in shopping

Then yesterday she said in passing "oh I need to see you about the changes to the roster, you'll be doing 2 in 3 saturdays". then nothing more was said as we were really busy.

Today iw ent in and couldn't do the job I am supposed to do, as I was helpign put the delivery out. Never got the chance to speak to her. had a sneaky look at roster though and she ahs me down next week working Mon,Tue, Fri and Sat.
No mention of this has been made to me, apart from the passing comment yesterday.

I know she will deny point blank telling me that i would be off on Saturdays, and the fact my Dses were then when she said will be irrelevant.
My contract is jsut for 12 hours, it doesn't specify days.

I think they are being a bit shitty over this TBH, The HR woman, who doesn't do weekends either has been told she has to do 2in 3 as well, yet her DH works weekends, and she ahs no one to look after her 11 year old DD.

Any suggestions or comments being made to the manager are greeted with a frim NO
