Do you get a Christmas present from work?

Just wondering really. I started a new job 6 months ago and have always received Christmas gifts from work (normally just a card, cheap bottle of wine and/or Xmas flowers). This year in this job I don’t think that’s happening. I work in a small team and we’re only all in the office one day a week (not necessarily the same day). Yesterday coincidentally we were all in the office together and the other team in our office were also there and received gifts from their manager (we are all one big team as our work helps each other but we have different roles and so different managers) and we did not. I was just wondering what the norm is really as I kind of expected it but don’t want to be unreasonable.
Before anyone says there’s still time that’s true! I just doubt we will all be in the office together next week as it rarely happens

I work in the charity sector so only get a thanks. I do feel a wee bit hurt that manager hasn't given me an xmas present as I'm his only direct report. I know Ip probably shouldn't expect anything I know, but after years of horrible bosses, now that I have a nice boss, it would be nice to have that appreciation shown.

Nope, nothing.

My team weren't even allowed to attend the company Xmas party as it was held in work hours and our managers wouldn't let us miss any working opportunity.

I work for a charity and we didn't even get to finish early on the 22nd let alone get a present

I had to work 23rd and 24th, and have just finished work today, 25th. Shift pattern, no leave granted, standard pay.

One of the Big Bosses bought me a nice Paperchase notebook and added a lovely note on the gift tag. I'm not her direct report and never have been, but I regularly work on her projects, so it was both unexpected and thoughtful of her!

Yes a Jo malone candle and reed diffuser, bottle of Moët and chocolates. From my boss who owns the company. Always generous and get gifts for birthdays too

Yes cash bonus, leave 1 hour early with pay on last day, small Xmas present £10 plus bottle of plonk, Xmas evening meal and wine all paid for, plus another paid for take away lunch

Christmas party/taxis fully paid for including free bar, a fresh organic Turkey for anyone who wants one, and then a raffle to share out some very nice gifts from suppliers on the last day, which is added to by the company so that everyone gets at least a little something.

You wouldn't believe the moaning about the above though?!

I also gave my own team of 4 a small gift each, but at £15 or so each it soon mounted up.

£100-£200 Amazon voucher, also given quarterly for performance. And a personal gift from my manager this year. Not all within the same department get the vouchers though. Despite this not being an irregular thing within the wider business and not costing managers personally. Very odd management.

You have my sympathy, I too have worked Christmas shifts in my previous jobs. This is why I now work 9-5 for a charity even though less money I have a better work life balance. I hope you were able to enjoy your limited time away from work.
