Dreading returning to work

Anyone else absolutely dreading going back to work? I hate my job so much!

OP posts:
IdisagreeMrHochhauser · 02/01/2023 02:21

Yes, me. I'm awake now, can't sleep and job hunting online. Came on to MN as that was stressing me out too much.

Lovelycupofcoffee · 02/01/2023 05:58

Same here hate it so much its making me ill. Was offered a new job in October but didn’t take it 😖. It was a bit to far to travel each day. It was ok until we were brought by a bigger company . 2023 is the year I leave . It’s going to be hard though as I’ve been there for so long . It’s almost like I’m firmly stuck in my little comfort zone .

Andylion · 02/01/2023 06:15

Not looking forward to it.

PupInAPram · 02/01/2023 06:26

Tuesday is the most depressing day of the year. Back to work, no Christmas to look forward to and still loads of winter to get through. I'm telling myself it's the rock bottom day of the year for many folk and the only way is up now 😊

Woeman · 02/01/2023 06:42

I hate to admit it, but I think I need the routine of work, even though it kills me. Rubbish.

Crazyinlove123 · 02/01/2023 06:47

Yep dreading it. I used to enjoy it but there has been changes in the dynamic which isn’t working for me and I really don’t like it anymore. I will be looking for other roles this year.

Timspam · 02/01/2023 07:02

Yep totally, so much so I'm
back Tuesday but it's spoiled all day yesterday and I've got that sick feeling in my stomach already so it will spoil today I guess.

BCBird · 02/01/2023 07:09

I heard that about it being the most depressing day of the year. Planned to start my diet too. Too Mich pressure I think. Hope all of you who are in jobs they dislike find something new.

musicandpassion · 02/01/2023 07:11

I've not had any time off at Christmas but I get you. I dread going back to work every single day. I'm currently sat in my car waiting for it to demist wondering whether I really need to go in.

mincepiesandi · 02/01/2023 07:24

Yes. And I really like my job too!

I just want to live a life of leisure and indolence and keep eating Christmas food 😭

Same here

Theneverendingdrama · 02/01/2023 07:26

Already thinking of when I can take my annual leave.

watchfulwishes · 02/01/2023 07:27

Just wanted to offer hope about changing jobs - I have done it recently and no longer feel dread about going back. I'd rather be on permanent holiday of course but the dread is not there.

I hope you all find better jobs.

Shosha · 02/01/2023 07:27

I'm another that likes my job but I'm still not ready to return! It's been such a lovely break.

hattie43 · 02/01/2023 08:13

I have previously had a job I hated . The only thing that gave me control and peace was searching and securing a new one . Make it that this year is the year you do .

BarrelOfOtters · 02/01/2023 08:21

I changed jobs a few years ago after realising that I was almost paralysed by the stress of work and the toxic environment. It took a while to decompress but I love that I no longer dread going on.

sure I’d rather be a home pottering about doing stuff I want to do…but really, i don’t mind work anymore.

HelpMeGetThrough · 02/01/2023 08:25

Back in tomorrow, as it's the bank holiday today, but I don't want to. It's utter shit now. In the 12 years I've been there, I've never felt this way.

I've got to do something about it ASAP.

Ilikewinter · 02/01/2023 08:32

I changed jobs last February, so whilst I'd rather not be working Im not bothered about going back. For all of you that hate your work use that to spur you on to bigger and better things!

Zampa · 02/01/2023 08:35

I've had colds since late November and thought two weeks off over Christmas would get me back to full health. Nope. Going back to work tomorrow with the same cough, new cold and a strained back from coughing so much.

Hope 2023 is the year that those in hated jobs find a new, more enjoyable one and the rest of us win the lottery

OppositeNumber · 02/01/2023 08:46

Had work stress dreams all last night and have spent the past few days applying for other jobs. Seriously considering going off sick. It took me a week to start to enjoy the ten days leave and having to return tomorrow is giving me a headache. I’m much better paid than I’ve ever been but it doesn’t compensate at all for how much I can’t stand my job.

FfeminyddCymraeg · 02/01/2023 08:52

Also dreading going back. My boss is absolutely toxic and makes my life a misery.

I’m quite far in to a recruitment process for another role so fingers crossed it won’t be for much longer.

MissyB1 · 02/01/2023 08:53

Eugh yes I’m dreading it. I do 3 different jobs on zero hours contracts. I’ve got work booked every day next week (no work this week thank God). I do find it stressful working in different places, and two of those places I really don’t enjoy. I need to sort out some different work this year.

OnTheRunWithMannyMontana · 02/01/2023 08:57

I used to feel like this every single weekend. It made me physically ill to the point of vomiting with stress on a morning! I left and my new job is so much better!

To all of you dreading it there is only one thing you need to change....

Good luck with all the job hunts!

Someaddedsugar · 02/01/2023 08:57

Another one dreading it and it's the first time I've ever felt like this. I can't explain why I'm dreading it either but I feel so low and anxious about it!

mildlydispeptic · 02/01/2023 08:58

Yup. Completely dreading it. And it's not because I'd rather be eating mince pies on the sofa: I actually WANT to work hard and be productive. But the job I took in the hope of a new start turns out to be just same shit, different firm. And now I have to hang in for at least a second year, otherwise it's going to mess up my CV and I'll be having to explain to recruiters why I didn't last in the job.
