NHS Recruitment

Anyone else just feel like giving up with NHS recruitment ?
I understand things are busy right now but it just seems like things are dragging on unnecessarily.
It is impossible to contact anyone at HR for days on end. Emails go unanswered for weeks, I'm left in limbo not having a start date, or knowing what days of the week I will be working so can't plan anything. The endless forms to complete which don't work online and there is no contact to ring and ask anyone. The endless delays. I am seriously just thinking of giving up working for them altogether.

*doesn’t

I don’t even bother trying to send messages to TRAC I go directly to my new manager. I do feel like I’m annoying them even though the answers are always very friendly. But it’s my only contact so I have no choice!

MrsLargeEmbodied · 09/04/2022 08:43

i worked in occ health and they masses of requests for new starters - so that is a backlog
i would also check with the new manager direct

my dd got an interview for bank admin, 3 months later, virtual training, still no work - and of course never got the promised pay for training. very frustrating
@Whattodo1987 I’m at the same place. They’ve received and accepted my reference, so my current manager now knows I’m leaving.
Then nothing was progressing so I emailed my new manager to ask what the status was so they chased recruitment, then suddenly my ID checks were complete and my convictions are ‘awaiting countersigning’ but from googling that means they haven’t even been sent to dbs yet Hmm so feel like I’m going to be waiting a while sigh

Keep us updated here at least we can share the pain of waiting!
I had my DBS back within 2 weeks for my latest job offer, so hopefully that won't be too long.

@Whattodo1987

It’s the lack of communication on TRAC from anyone that’s frustrating me. A week later I’ll get an email sent from a different person each time, none of it answering my questions, but chasing something I’ve either already sent them or something that I’ve already let them know is the wrong form. Does bode well doing the actual job in my mind, if it’s this frustrating before I even start.
Yes exactly this. Each time it's a different person. When I eventually had enough and told the manager that I was no longer taking the job, the hiring manager asked me if I could let HR know as they couldn't contact them. WTF. Anyway I let HR know but clearly no-one communicated with each other as the project leader for the new team/ service then contacted me a month later to ask when I was starting ! this was a whole month after I let them know I wasn't taking the job offer !

I didn't even know you could send messages on trac. Who exactly are you sending them too? I'm a bit concerned. All of my checks on track are showing complete, although I had to send my OH forms.twice!
My reference has shown as received about three weeks ago, But a couple of days ago it said updated, and just showed that days date, but not showing complete like the others!
Starting to think they didn't accept my reference or come back for more information. ! Any ideas? Confused

I don't think you can send messages on TRAC.

My TRAC has a ‘get in touch’ button. It tells me the address and phone number of I assume the recruitment team dealing with it. I’ve never called it though tbh!

I don't have that on mine.

And people want more funds for the NHS! This is why we need a reform of the whole service. People in their own little worlds and some running cottage industries to justify their roles.

desperatehousewife21 · 11/04/2022 11:14

I actually got an unprompted email from my new manager this morning to say they are just waiting on dbs to clear then they will issue unconditional offer and discuss a start date Smile not long now!

jessy100 · 11/04/2022 13:41

@MrsMeg1

I've just had a good experience with NHS hr, taken 2 weeks from interview to been offered a position - all checks done and given a start date!! They have also been very accommodating with any pre-booked holidays, although I've only got 1 week but said they would normally honour anything booked in, I suppose within limits! This will be my first job within the NHS and I'm really looking forward to starting.
That's great news. Hopefully you won't be waiting too long. My DBS came back within 10 days! All of my checks are showing as complete now on trac.Does that mean that the next step is the unconditional offer?. I got my conditional offer by email.
jessy100 · 11/04/2022 13:43

Oops I have replied to the wrong poster. Should have been to desperate housewife 21

desperatehousewife21 · 11/04/2022 13:47

@jessy100 fab! Yeah I’d say if all your checks show as complete they will be in touch with an unconditional offer as that’s what my manager said will be happening for mine.

I was given a ref number to track my dbs have you checked there to see it’s complete?

desperatehousewife21 · 11/04/2022 13:49

Oh ignore that! Just saw you said you had it back within 10 days, that’s good Smile

desperatehousewife21 · 11/04/2022 16:22

Oh wow my dbs has cleared already! That must be a record? Grin 3 hours?!

Babyroobs · 11/04/2022 16:30

I felt like I might be getting a step closer to starting but went to pick up uniforms today and they are no - where close to fitting despite me measuring myself before ordering, so another trip to return those. Have been sent log in details to book bank shifts but can't make head nor tail of the booking system and there doesn't seems to be any shifts there ! Honestly feel like giving up. My other job starts in two weeks and I think this bank one is just going to be a non starter.

Whattodo1987 · 11/04/2022 16:54

I think they just be doing a
Job lot of DBS checks, mines cleared today too! Grin

desperatehousewife21 · 11/04/2022 21:20

Fingers crossed for an unconditional offer for both of us v soon then @Whattodo1987 !

Whattodo1987 · 11/04/2022 21:34

@Babyroobs I hope things get better and some shifts show up for you soon. I’m starting another job soon too if I do t what. Sad about it, but I can’t take the chance of waiting. Just have to see really, what pans out as can’t afford to be waiting months to start this one. Stress isn’t the word x

@desperatehousewife21 I’ve accepted another temp job starting soon as was panicking this one wouldn’t come off. Be sod’s law I’ll hear from this one now, talk about stressful. A friend of mine at the same hospital waited 5 months before bailing out (different department) so I panicked and didn’t want to wait.

I still really want this one though, not sure what I’m going to do. Confused

desperatehousewife21 · 13/04/2022 16:07

Received my unconditional offer today! Got a start date and have handed in my resignation at current job. It’s all real now Grin

Whattodo1987 · 13/04/2022 17:13

Ah well done to you!
I’ve had my dbs certificate through but not heard anything since!

Keiki · 13/04/2022 17:31

I applied back in jan or February and was given an offer over the phone. Also a bank position. Phoned several times a week but never received anything in writing so have given up and got another job. Madness.

jessy100 · 18/04/2022 19:42

Well on the whole the process has run fairly smoothly for me. I'm very surprised. Lots of people having bad experiences had me convinced it was going to be awful!
I.guess it still all go.pear shaped, but I've had my unconditional offer now, and I think the next stage is to agree a starting date with manager.
I'm not in a massive rush to do this as I have a holiday booked middle of may and I would prefer to start after this if possible.

Whattodo1987 · 18/04/2022 20:55

That’s good Jessy, glad it’s going smoothly for you. How long after sending in all your paperwork did you get your unconditional offer? I got chased for a second character reference over a week ago, so they should have everything now. See how long it takes now!
