NHS Recruitment

Anyone else just feel like giving up with NHS recruitment ?
I understand things are busy right now but it just seems like things are dragging on unnecessarily.
It is impossible to contact anyone at HR for days on end. Emails go unanswered for weeks, I'm left in limbo not having a start date, or knowing what days of the week I will be working so can't plan anything. The endless forms to complete which don't work online and there is no contact to ring and ask anyone. The endless delays. I am seriously just thinking of giving up working for them altogether.

Mine is actually stated in days, however says if you’re part time (I will be as doing 30 hours across 5 days) my line manager will give me my holiday entitlement in hours once I start. The holiday in days looked a really good amount though so hoping it’s the same when it gets changed into hours too! I get all the bank holidays off too 😊

I work part-time for the NHS in admin 8.45 - 5 and my holidays are in hours. I don't work Mondays so I get to use most of the bank holidays as annual leave (prorated obviously). Full time staff holidays are also in hours. I don't think it makes any difference to be honest.

It's just easier to do it in hours when people work different length shifts. On wards some will work 7.5 hour short shifts and some will do 12 hour shifts.

Ok thanks. So if I take a days holidays on a day where it would be a 12 hour shift, it would take off 12 hours of that total I’ve been allocated. I’m only going 17 hours a week. Thanks

Yeah exactly that. Much easier to book hol when it’s done in hours because like you say each persons ‘day’ could be a completely different length. My day will be 6 hours, whereas a full timer would be 8 hours.

Member of staff is retiring but staying on the bank to be occasional cover in exactly the same job. So we have down to cover shifts in the month after she retires but guess what.....her employment checks are not complete and they can't set her up on the system until the paperwork is done. She currently works for us you numpties!!!!

Head --> table.

Had my first day today! Overwhelmed with info and the next couple of months are going to be a lot. Everyone is friendly and I like my manager so all good 👍
