So I am 34 this year and have a degree in public health spent my whole working life in health care and I am just exhausted and fed up. I hate working in this field now have done for a good 2 years. I want a different career. So many choices I just don't know what to pick?!

Policy development.

I currently work in banking, but I used to work in a government affairs agency where several people had public health backgrounds. They worked on policy and lobbying for pharma companies.

(I love it, btw. Missed that but if the question).

Secondary teacher. Love it! Pay 💰 okay but obviously are fantastic and good pension.

I am a chandler ( candle maker) . Love it , fell into it by accident, was an interior designer before.

I work in communications and media for a formula 1 team. Absolutely love it. I haven't traveled with the team this season yet due to an injury, but when I was traveling it was the best!

I teach English to anyone aged 9-adult, my oldest this year is 62. Lots of teens to get through exams, they're mostly well-behaved and keen, all but a handful have been delightful.

I've been doing it 23 years and I still love it.

Shit pay, but I can see many kilometres of the Mediterranean from my house, the town feels as safe as the '50s, the locals are lovely, DD is trilingual.

I wouldn't do anything else.

I'm a nursery nurse. I enjoy it but the money is awful and we're massively undervalued.

I'm on the executive leadership team of a tech company, I worked my way up (at various companies) from:

I have been lucky, I have always LOVED my jobs.

I'm an user experience designer. Basically, I look at how users interact with websites and apps and try to make it as simple and straightforward as possible. I love it, it's challenging but fascinating - you think you've designed something really clear, and then you test it with users and they're like so you have to change it and test it again until you get it right.
I'm not techy at all, I don't do any coding. I came into this from communications and writing work.

Regulatory Affairs in Pharma, business side rather than technical.
Yes, I love it it’s well paid and very interesting plus it’s really flexible and my boss is great

I am a freelance tv director, I really enjoy it but it's been a bit unreliable lately

University admissions - lots of marketing and events as well as enquiry handling and outreach for my department's academic subject. Absolutely love it.

Online advertising at an agency. I love it. Very international, lovely clients and 100% remote. Good pay. You never stop learning.

I’m a sample machinist (seamstress) I work freelance for various different companies and also as a sewing technician at a college. I really like it, the pay is ok and being able to work from home the majority of the time fits in well with school drops and pick ups

Following. I'm much older than you OP and still love the field I've been in for 25 years, but am struggling to find a role. Have been self-employed for half of those years, so likely not desirable candidate for any job!

Changing fields completely is a possibility but, like you, I don't know what to.

Public health? Why not retrain to be a food inspector? 1 year at uni, 1 year placement and ta-da, new career! A friend of mine did this from a similar background to yours and LOVES it!

Ooh Starry can you tell me more? So many things seem to be telling me at the moment that I need to go into UX design.

Do you spend all day in front of a computer alone, or is there quite a mix with client interaction? What would you say the percentage is?

Is it really really OK not to do coding? I have always hated coding. I'm reasonably techy but that's a total blind spot for me.

I have history in graphic design and customer service, would those things be useful?

Lastly is it only about websites and apps or does it spill it into anything else as well?

And teaching (adults) background too so a bit of communications stuff.

I work in The City in operations for a well known British financial firm. The work is very dry but the pay is great, there is little stress, a decent amount of flexibility and i don't work long hours. Suits my lifestyle perfectly

I'm a service administrator looking to move into engineer controller in the next 6 months, absolutely love it, plays to my strengths as an individual, money is average, but high for the area and role.

Was a self employed virtual pa before which was interesting, would highly recommend it for the flexibility and choosing your own hours and who you deal with, but I much prefer an office with people to being in home office alone.

Following as my job has had me borderline suicidal in the past and I need out of it.

Spent most of my career on the more technical mathsy side of the table before moving into management ~10 years ago for more of a work life balance.

Pays mega £££, get to meet (virtually now of course!) a lot of interesting people, and really enjoy getting to see my younger staff develop.
