Feeling disheartened

I have applied for 12 jobs in the past 2 weeks, all of which every time I apply say “over 100 applicants” “over 80 applicants” etc.

I have been turned down from them all, I’m really at a loss and I know it’s just the times we are currently in but I feel like I’m never going to get a job and I’m starting to worry, last month I applied for several cleaning jobs only one got back in touch and said I was over qualified.

At this current moment in time I will do anything. DS is in nursery one morning a week now so I can apply for jobs/go for an interview if I get one but I’m just getting so fed up with constantly being turned down from everything I apply for. Does anyone have any tips on what I can do? I have had my CV looked over by someone who does them professionally they say it’s a good CV and think it’s just the amount of option employers are getting he also said he thinks employers will be getting that many they won’t be looking through them all! Not sure if I just want to moan or if I want advice on what I can do! Blush

@tmh88 it certainly does... at the moment I can't even write a (short) email without being interrupted every 0.5 seconds, let alone concentrate on something which requires actual brainpower Confused

I’m so nervous for Monday, I’m just trying to see it as experience even if I don’t get it! I haven’t had a proper, proper interview like this in over 5 years! Had phone interviews since this all started but not a face to face and I’m dreading it!

@tmh88 fantastic news best of luck. My new job is currently kicking my arse! Hoping I will get into it soon

I can't imagine having a face to face interview @tmh88 Shock it's well over 10 years since I last had one! But yes, it's all experience, and remember the interview is a two way process to see if you like them as well as them liking you Smile

Interview went really well! They offered me the job too! However I don’t think I’ll accept it! The man who came in after (owner) was really not nice, asked me to come in for an induction tomorrow, had to say I couldn’t make it as I need a bit more notice for childcare but could do any other day this week.. said it wasn’t his problem and if I want the job I would be in! Not a chance am I working for someone like that if they’re like this in the interview! Just going to phone tonight and say I have no childcare so turning down the role! I couldn’t believe how rude he was! The woman who did the interview was lovely she asked me to wait while she gave feedback and he came through! Glad he did come in, in a way or I could of been working there!

Don't be disheartened. Call around to old work colleague, bosses, contacts, friends - I did this and have managed to get myself 2 days work a week helping an old friend/competitor out at his office. Was working full time before and on better pay, but I'm thankful for the work. Good luck
