..if we hadn't been interviewing one of our members of staff today who already works in the school in a similar role.

So, had my interview today after gaining an interview in competition with 33 strong applicants - apparently. Didn't get the job but had a half hour phonecall of feedback from one of the 4 interviwers and he said quite categorically that I gave a fantastic interview and they would have happily given me the job had I not been up against this one woman.

Lots more posts coming up due to new government initiative - exactly same role, just different set of educational establishments. Shall I apply? I already missed out on an interview for the same post a few weeks ago because they were basically doing the interviews because they had to - already had someone 'inhouse' lined up.

He said there was nothing he could fault really, just one answer that was maybe a little short, otherwise perfect.

Not sure if GRRR! or WAHEY!

Well, I envisage the majority of the work being general community based consultation and the major reason for the bit about working with children/young people is because you will be in direct contact for the simple fact you are based in a school.

However, when staging 'events' for families you will often be expected to attend/represent your consortium. You will also need familiarity or capability in planning either consultation or facilities with/for young people.

It will really depend on how much outsourcing you can achieve I think.

good luck, and it really doesn't worry me at all that we have both applied - hope you feel the same

Yes, I am hoping to say at least a few words at the funeral but I haven't had the balls to ask the family yet. I must do it tomorrow or I might ask the funeral director to liaise (what do you think, is that wrong?)

I have planned in my head what I will say as have been going over and over when I'm trying (and failing) to sleep!

No it doesn't worry me please don't worry about that. Good luck to you too .
I would prefer to work a bit nearer to home though so I will keep looking.

Re: asking funeral director to liaise, I don't think that's wrong. They may direct you to whoever is giving the service eg: vicar - is it religious? I would have thought the family would really appreciate it.

Thanks for all your help btw. Let me know if you get an interview! Post on this thread, I will keep it on my watch threads.

newlifenewname · 03/08/2007 19:10

No job, yet!

Must wait for PT's reply though.

come on pink teddy!

pinkteddy · 03/08/2007 19:41

Hi newlife, sorry been out all day in the sunshine and just put dd to bed. I didn't get a letter today no. . Have you had an invite to interview? Congratulations if so! I have to say our post has been sporadic all week which I put down to postal strikes so I suppose something still might turn up. When is the interview?

newlifenewname · 03/08/2007 19:48

Hiya!

Yes, I'd almost given up hope on this one so was very surprised to receive a letter today.

I agree post situation could still mean you might hear tomorrow.

Interview is Weds next week and I have to do a 10 min presentation!

I must say, I hoped we'd both have the same news at the same time.

OP posts:
pinkteddy · 03/08/2007 19:53

thanks that's really sweet of you. Will let you know if I hear anything. 10 minute presentation! Don't like the sound of that!

newlifenewname · 03/08/2007 19:54

Me neither! I have to present as if trying to convince a headteacher of benefit of consortium. Will probably mean using power point, what fun!

Hi newlife. I haven't heard anything from Sele re:job so I had resigned myself to the fact that I had not got an interview. Logged into hertfordshire jobs just now to see what else is around and I noticed that under 'my applications' it said that my application had been sent in, but not viewed by the school! I am now in a quandary. Did you apply on line? Not sure what to do as if I ring the school tomorrow and they do invite me for an interview, I will have hardly any time to prepare - what to do, what to do!! Am so pissed off though that they haven't viewed my application. It was sent in plenty of time for the closing date.

newlifenewname · 06/08/2007 09:50

Hi there

What a complete farce. I emailed mine and didn't reply via the website, though that was where I saw the job advertised.

I would have thought that you are well within your rights to ask for your application to be considered today.

I won't be preparing my presentation until this evening... here are the details if you want to get a head start:

"... a 10 minute presentation on how you would convince a head teacher that developing extended services and being part of a consortia would benefit their school."

If you want to put heads together on this to help us both please do CAT me!

Please Bump for Pinkteddy

Do - my dad got himself a really good job that he would not have applied for had he known he was going up against someone in house.

newlifenewname · 06/08/2007 12:46

for pink teddy

pinkteddy · 06/08/2007 14:29

hi newlife, just checked on here quickly as am at work, thanks for bumping. I have telephoned and emailed the school, but there is no one there! The phone message states that there is no one in the office. I have left messages so all I can do now is wait. you are such a sweetheart for giving me a heads up on the presentation, thanks very much. I will CAT you later if there is any news. I haven't used that facility before, assume it is straighforward? I will check this thread again later today. Many thanks again it is appreciated.

pinkteddy · 06/08/2007 16:01

quick update. I've had a call from Sele school. I didn't actually speak to the woman, she rang my mobile and I couldn't answer it as I was on a work call. She left a message - full of apologies, she is going to fax my application to the short lister and I will hear tomorrow whether or not I have got an interview!! She did say that the standard of applications was very high and they had 24 applications! Am very very pissed off . Not sure whether to spend time preparing or not now - also I was supposed to be off Weds and have no child care! Grrr!

newlifenewname · 06/08/2007 16:05

Listen, you put as much into this app in as me so if comes down to childcare I'm sure we could sort a swapsie arrangement between us. My interview is at 9.45 am.

Lord knows what I'm going to put together for my presentation so you can start preparing later safe in the knowledge that you won't be the only one having a last minute stress about it

My email is ikeaphobe at yahoo dot co dot uk if you want to exchange info later.

I think this is such a shame for you.

newlifenewname · 06/08/2007 21:07

PT are you busy preparing?!

OP posts:
pinkteddy · 06/08/2007 21:54

Hi there, yes have done a bit of preparing! But not too much IYSWIM just in case I don't get shortlisted. Just been collating information really, which will be useful for future applications as well. How about you? Are you all done?! Thanks for the offer re: childcare btw. I really do appreciate it. I suspect if I do get an interview it will either be really early, or really late as they must have their day blocked out already. Well we'll see what tomorrow brings. I'll let you know. thanks again. Hope your presentation is coming together nicely!
