Why do people work part time ? I've never understood it...

I never have, but lots of colleagues in NHS did....you end up doing 3/4 of the work for 1/2 the salary, and get passed over in the promotion stakes...And have you noticed that it's nearly always women who do this ? Why ? I actively discourage junior staff from doing this but lots seem to....

hey MB look what I found under mythical creatures .. the Bishop-fish

Chelseamum · 17/05/2007 15:28

In my opinion,

either choice being a p/t or f/t is a valid one if it works for the family you are in.

What really gets on my nerves is when people "don't get" other people's arrangements and in an "innocent" manner questions other families implying their choice is the best!

Tinker · 17/05/2007 15:31

Yes, very passive aggressive thread question.

PrincessPeaHead · 17/05/2007 15:31

my mother (a GP) told me that the people who are drawn to psychiatry are generally drawn their because of their own psychoses

ie they are all nuts

My mother is practically never wrong about anything

Blandmum · 17/05/2007 15:32

Twig, it is a damnable lie, I have never refused to eat!

My arse is testiment to that

PrincessPeaHead · 17/05/2007 15:32

ooooh I don't think I've EVER got there and their mixed up before

seeks psychiatric help*

GiantSquirrelSpotter · 17/05/2007 15:32

I have complete confidence in your mother PPH.

Blandmum · 17/05/2007 15:36

Is that a Mother Fixation you have PPH????

Would you like to talk about it?

Cammelia · 17/05/2007 15:55

Have a little lie down on the couch dear

Aloha · 17/05/2007 16:20

I feel rather disgusted at myself for even posting though, like a hornet in a hornets' nest stirred up by a mean little boy with a stick.

CODalmighty · 17/05/2007 16:21

your mum is rihgt pph
in mils team there has been so far
one drug addict oen peadophile( convicted) and one psycotic bitch

GiantSquirrelSpotter · 17/05/2007 16:22

Is psychotic bitch a technical term Cod?

mishw · 17/05/2007 16:27

what an odd question - maybe for some people its because they can

plummymummy · 17/05/2007 17:28

Err............PPH and COD there are many damaged people in other professions too - massive generalisation and nothing whatsoever to do with the subject of the thread. Yes Psychiatry does attract some people who are trying to get therapy by proxy but tbh GPs have a rep for alcoholism and drug addiction and I'm sure it applies to the minority rather than the majority

PrincessPeaHead · 17/05/2007 17:32

oh plummy didn't I mention my mother is also a self-prescribing dipso as well? just proves my (and your) point, really

nutty as a fruitcake

plummymummy · 17/05/2007 17:38

Erm didn't you realise that your reference to your mother being a GP is the reason why I made that link - to show that sweeping generalisations are just that.

PrincessPeaHead · 17/05/2007 17:45

strangely enough I did plummymummy (double )

didn't you realise that since I clearly have more than one braincell (being able to turn on a computer and type 'n all) I might just have had an inkling that my statement "psychiatrists are all nuts" WAS a sweeping generalisation and that, in fact, was the entire point of making it?

god the quality of posters is just plummeting downhill here, too tragic

I did actually wonder just that PPH. Maybe your mum could dish out some little blue pills to you - sounds as if you could do with chilling out a bit

No but your right - it could be sexual frustration I had Lorazepam in mind (a benzodiazepine - tranquiliser).
