hi everyone, aren't you glad the first day back is over and done with!!
i dropped ds2 off at 8.30 then started work at 8.45 (nursery in works grounds)he seemed ok when i left, he had fallen asleeo n the way there so i had to wake him up to go in to nursery which i think made hima little grumpy. so when i rang to cjeck on him at 10, he had refused to eat his breakfast and wouldnt have a nap!! i could hear him crying in the background which made me feel really guilty, so i rang back an hour later and he had calmed down, had his milk and had a 20 min nap. i finished work at 12.30 ( i will be doing 3 full days but using holiday up so only doing 3 half days a week for 3 weeks). he wouldnt smile at me when i picked him up , it wasnt till this evening that he actually seemed to relax and calm down a bit. . im sooo hoping he will be better tomorrow.

i was really busy at work though so didnt have time to dwell on it, every now again i would have a pang of sadness and remember but im sure it will get better.

Hello - can I join too? Just read through most of your messages and it all sounds very familiar. I'm going back mid Feb for two days a week and ds will be just over a year. He is going to a nursery and I'm dreading it. Still bf (he wont entertain formula!) although have dropped most of the day feeds. I just worry about his naps, his eating, how he'll be with other people...oh you know - the usual!

Morning everyone - DS just been for his 3rd settling in session at nursery and was great again - I guess I should stop worrying really as he seems to be adapting to it well - plus added bonus is that I get to go to the gym whilst he is there

How is everyone doing back at work?

fifiandtheflowertots · 11/01/2007 16:42

well my first week is almost over, just 4 hours to do tomorrow.
ds doesnt seem bothered at all that im not around, he's settled really well with my sil and cousin which has made it a lot easier for me.
And ive loved having a hot cuppa at work and sitting down to adult chat

Hi everyone, can I join, too? I'm going back to work on the 23rd fot two half days a week Then in Feb I add another day and a half. I'm in the US so will have only had off 9 weeks

DS1 had a nanny but she put in her notice a few months ago and left on the 6th. I've got ds1 in Mother's Day Out program for my days coming up and he will stay with a friend for the extra days starting in Feb.

Dh works from home and is semi-retired so will be looking after ds2 for now. He's not crazy about the idea though and would like another p-t nanny. It's been a night nare just getting this far w/ childcare though. We are in a very small town w/ VERY limited options.

And I have yet to find a bottle that ds2 will take

ipodthereforipoor · 15/01/2007 17:39

First crisis already - had to pick up the boy early as he had a temp and was lethargic!!!

They couldn't get hold of me or 3hrs and didn't ring my mum - who is second contact - NOT VERY IMPRESSED.

I have had a word to say in the event that I am unreachable then she should be called immeadiately.

Of course, 10 minutes after getting home he is now fine and bouncing off the walls!

Was he doing the dying swan act to get home early??!!!

i started my 2nd week back yesterday but found out i've got about 3 weeks hols to take by march, so ive got the rest of this week off, a week in feb and about 10 days in march so that was a nice surprise
ds is settled really well with sil and loves going to playgroup so i feel like all that worry was for nothing.

Floating, I do know what you mean. Before ds1 I was an extremely social person. Dh is an artist and we were always going to openings, etc. Things are very different now and it took me quite a while to adjust.

I talked to one of the docs I fill in for yesterday. (I'm an optometrist) After working for months to find chldcare options they now want me to change my schedule "Whenever I can find other childcare"

They can very well wait! grrrr

fifiandtheflowertots · 16/01/2007 13:13

i feel a bit like that FOTM
Before i was pg with ds a huge part of my work life was the social side of it. We were always arranging nights out, going to the pub after work etc, but now i feel uncomfortable in the compnay of some of the people i used to do all this with. They dont have kids and they sit at break times and talk about the wild night out they had at the weekend, or the fact that they are going here and there, but i sit and talk about ds and family life.
Its so weird how much you change.
Ive gone from being one of these wild people to being a mum who likes staying in, all in the space of just over a year
