Really quick question! Should I.... yes or no?

I had a job interview last week and they seemed very keen and said they would let me know for definite by the end of the week.

Not heard yet.

Now normally I bide my time but I am impatient and they were so positive that they would let me know quickly.

Should I call the HR dept and see what's happening? Or not...

You decide!

DH underpants still wet. Washing drying remarkably slowly given the sunshine.

I wonder what that portends, if anything Confused

Next door drill sounds like going through wall.

Good luck!
Often means they've offered it to someone who's not getting back so they don't want to reject other good candidates yet, or head office is arguing over funding... which can take months. My record was being offered a post 8 months after being interviewed!

SardineQueen · 22/08/2011 15:49

Phew. Spoke to HR woman, the people who interviewed me haven't been back to her yet.

That's not a good sign, seeing as they seemed so keen and almost as if they'd made their minds up there and then...

Apparently it will be the early part of this week though.

I will update when I find out!

Well done for calling, good luck!

SardineQueen · 23/08/2011 11:53

Thanks angel!

They said definitely the early part of this week.... That is TODAY.

I bet they don't ring.

My sense is that they saw me and thought I was good (they were very keen) and then saw someone equally as good/better and it has thrown them into confusion/they are offering it to someone else and see if they want it.

Nothing.

I don't think I've got it TBH. Balls.

Hi

I have felt like you have.....

But I have also recruited lots of people and most of the time recruiters are simply busy, dealing with something unexpected (an internal candidate etc), sick, on holiday, waiting for a colleague to return I could go on......I know it is really important to you but it is "just" another thing on their to-do list.

I think chasing up is fine. You probably have to leave it now though and see if you hear back.

Fingers crossed.

SardineQueen · 24/08/2011 10:05

Thanks watersign.

And the wait continues....

I don't think I've got it.

SardineQueen · 24/08/2011 10:06

In which case they are mean for being so keen. When I came out I was "I've nailed that!!!"

Even if you are second choice and don't get it, don't forget to write a thank you letter to the people who interviewed you, thanking them for their time, highlighting some things you loved about the company and them, etc. You may not get this job, but there may be something else on the horizon and if they have a positive image of you they may even phone you up and ask you to come in for a chat. The 'thank you letter' technique has got me two jobs in the past, so it definitely doesn't hurt.

SardineQueen · 26/08/2011 12:20

Thanks for the tip worldgonecrazy Smile

It's lunchtime on Friday. I'm not going to hear today am I Sad

I don't know why I'm so keen to hear when now I'm pretty sure the answer will be no.

OP posts:
SardineQueen · 26/08/2011 12:55

Right

I have just started looking on job sites again having decided I have prob not got this and to take my mind off it

The same company are advertising a similar job in a different department which I am qualified for.

I don't want to miss out on applying for it, while I wait for this first one. But I don't want them to think I've gone off the first one by applying for another one.

SO I could call HR and say I am interested in this other position, and do they know what's happening with the first one, and should I apply, or what's going on.

Hmmm? What do we think....

They seem to have an awful lot of vacancies at the mo, they have had a big restructure recently.

DH is back at 1.30 BTW so will be consulting him as well. He is a great source of info on all of this, having even less experience with this sort of thing than me Grin

OP posts:
cjbartlett · 26/08/2011 12:58

I'd apply for the other post
I don't think youve got this one
