Voting is open now to vote for the BBC woman’s hour sportswoman of the year I voted for Sharron Davies because of her continued support for keeping women’s sport single sex. she’s been talking about this for years and it must’ve been at some personal cost to her and it would be great to see her recognised.

Thanks so much for highlighting this, OP, I have voted for her too. It would be a fantastic and rightful win. Here's hoping we are some of many.

Yup, thanks for the thread. Voted for Sharron, as a Leader, for standing for women.

Should we pick a category to concentrate votes? I went for Amplifier for amplifying the voice of women at all levels of sport that don't have her platform, but could easily have nominated her for any of the other categories!

Someone's linked to the Update the Equality Act petition here as well:

Is it safe to use one's name? Are pseudonyms allowed?

I also voted for Sharron as leader and mentioned that it would be good if all the people on the final list were women!

Thank you for sharing the link! I have also voted for Sharon Davies.

I sincerely hope that all of the women in this category are indeed women.

Amelia Strickler, a shot putter has become one of the few active sportswomen to make a stand

I do not want to split the vote but just use it as an opportunity to out her name out there

Her courage is admirable - she's fighting for future young women to be able to compete fairly. Leader here too.

Thanks for the bump - just voted for Sharon in the leader category.

What a strange way to do awards unless this is an initial stage and there will be a second round with nominees in set categories at a later stage..

Sharon as leader from me - in my own name
