Voting is open now to vote for the BBC woman’s hour sportswoman of the year I voted for Sharron Davies because of her continued support for keeping women’s sport single sex. she’s been talking about this for years and it must’ve been at some personal cost to her and it would be great to see her recognised.

Thanks so much for highlighting this, OP, I have voted for her too. It would be a fantastic and rightful win. Here's hoping we are some of many.

IcakethereforeIam · 02/02/2023 15:17

Yup, thanks for the thread. Voted for Sharron, as a Leader, for standing for women.

WellRested · 02/02/2023 16:35

Should we pick a category to concentrate votes? I went for Amplifier for amplifying the voice of women at all levels of sport that don't have her platform, but could easily have nominated her for any of the other categories!

Roja7 · 02/02/2023 16:59

I went for leader too

MsDemeanors · 02/02/2023 17:12

RubyTrees · 02/02/2023 17:16

Someone's linked to the Update the Equality Act petition here as well:

Because she truly supports WOMEN in sport.

DOBARDAN · 02/02/2023 17:22

Mrsherdwick · 02/02/2023 17:31

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 02/02/2023 17:31

OneGoodThing · 02/02/2023 17:38

Another vote for Sharron in the Leader category.

BoredOfThisMansWorld · 02/02/2023 17:40

Is it safe to use one's name? Are pseudonyms allowed?

VoleClock · 02/02/2023 17:44

I also voted for Sharron as leader and mentioned that it would be good if all the people on the final list were women!

Wineat5isfine · 02/02/2023 17:54

Thank you for sharing the link! I have also voted for Sharon Davies.

I sincerely hope that all of the women in this category are indeed women.

Amelia Strickler, a shot putter has become one of the few active sportswomen to make a stand

I do not want to split the vote but just use it as an opportunity to out her name out there

Ofbollocks · 02/02/2023 18:12

Love sharron Davies. Have voted too

BloodAndFire · 02/02/2023 18:26

I have voted for Sharron Davies as Leader too. Thanks OP.

Ohyoudodoyou · 02/02/2023 18:32

Her courage is admirable - she's fighting for future young women to be able to compete fairly. Leader here too.

KohlaParasaurus · 02/02/2023 18:42

Thanks for highlighting this. I've also voted for Sharron Davies as Leader. She is phenomenal.

IceyDicey · 03/02/2023 10:49

Bump

OP posts:
peachescariad · 03/02/2023 10:53

Sharon go my vote too. Leader

OttersMayHaveShiftedInTransit · 03/02/2023 10:56

Thanks for the bump - just voted for Sharon in the leader category.

What a strange way to do awards unless this is an initial stage and there will be a second round with nominees in set categories at a later stage..

DPotter · 03/02/2023 10:59

Sharon as leader from me - in my own name
