Woman’s hour sports woman of the year

Voting is open now to vote for the BBC woman’s hour sportswoman of the year I voted for Sharron Davies because of her continued support for keeping women’s sport single sex. she’s been talking about this for years and it must’ve been at some personal cost to her and it would be great to see her recognised.

If I had a work email in my original surname and a personal email address in my married name I might be tempted to vote for both Sharron Davies and Amelia Davies.

I hope they mention runners-up as well as winners when the award is announced.

If I did this I don’t think I’d be splitting the vote as they could go in different categories. They are looking for 30 people.

The webpage says “We encourage you to submit only one suggestion.”

I think we are voting for women to go on a list of 30, so it will recognise other women as well as the one who the panel decides should be number 1.

From the Privacy Notice

“Our expert judging panel will shortlist a final thirty (30) women, and then rank them. Before deciding on a shortlist, we may get in touch with you for more information about your suggestion. We may also ask you to appear on-air to discuss the reasons behind your suggesting someone for the list.”
