Telegraph article

The excellent Barbara Rich has been interviewed by the Telegraph about Maugham's little tantrum last week. She's her usual polite, measured self and looking great in her "polite white grandmother" clothes 😉
I expect he's recording another puce-faced, jabby-fingered rant for his insta fans, hopefully the other GLP directors have noticed his recent behaviour and will act appropriately.

The retired barrister drawing the ire of ‘pompous’ Left-wing lawyer Jolyon Maugham

While his Good Law Project attacks the media over Jason Arday’s death, Barbara Rich is once again proving to be a thorn in his side

I know its about him, not a quote from him, but it's accurate I feel. He simply cannot contain his loathing for women, can he. It oozes out of him like putrefaction on a corpse.

“[GLP/Activism] is what he’s chosen to do with his life. And obviously some people find that very admirable. But you can’t do that and then say, ‘well, we must advance the interests of all minorities and not be prejudiced… except against middle-aged white women’.”

No. It's astonishing watching his rants, tbh. Startling.

The pointy finger. The screwed up face.

Yey thread 2. Thanks JudgeD. And a good article.

"I don't mind for myself,"
[cue hand on heart, head up, looking bravely out towards the darkening plains, music rising, windmill optional]
"but it's the junior female colleagues I care about."

Given Maugham's very obvious disdain for, and inability to understand, women, this concern is as surprising as his descriptor of Barbara Rich is puerile.

Which kind of female are these junior colleagues?

Which kind of female are these junior colleagues?

I guess we will never know (assuming they do actually exist and were in fact deeply upset).

But we can be grateful that we don't work for the man.

“Horrid”

where horrid = asks inconvenient questions

Shedmistress · 03/09/2026 06:48

I think JM and Richard are perfect for each other.

Imagine the frothing at one of their dinner parties. Totally catered as obvs they wouldn't want to get their hands dirty.

And who’s ‘them’ in Robin’s tweet? All women? People who he perceives as being mean to him on twitter? These men do come across as remarkably fragile

Greyover · 03/09/2026 06:57

Did anyone see the fox beater pitch up on 'Love Cheats' (a Channel 4 programme) as a talking head the other night?

He will say supportive things about women when he's paid handsomely to do so. There's a suprise.

The 'junior colleagues' would cook the dinner. They seem to get roped in for a lot of strange purposes.

Has she, aye? What, by prompting a spittle flicked rant about how she's a 'white grandmother ' that led them to realise they are working for a horrible misogynist?

The way this man uses 'junior female' as a descriptor is gross. It has the patriarchal ring of 'little ladies' to it.

ArabellaScott · 03/09/2026 08:08

Most of the GLP staff do appear to be younger women, now you come to mention it, Jolyon.

DrudgeJedd · 03/09/2026 18:26

Still filming rants for ❤️ on insta, he's had the good sense to post his latest using the GLP account to give himself cover if Michael Gove decides to sue. He's also effing & jeffing and liking bitchy comments about Gove's family from his gullible supporters.
Unraveling faster than a Shein sweater...

He's the Ali G of unregulated fundraising and lawfare innit

I've just realised that DH has a pair of those green bouldering trousers 😞
He does only wear them when he's climbing though, he prefers something a bit more formal when ranting to idiots on social media

Well done your dh for keeping up standards.

I assume presenting to a non-responsive camera, without a judge or pesky opponent to ask difficult questions or point out the inconsistencies in your rant submissions must be preferable for him ...

Also retreating to a SM platform which allows him to delete any comments he doesn't like.
He nuked his personal X & Bluesky accounts but is obviously in charge of those belonging to GLP. However it looks as if the lack of positive engagement on those sites has coincide with JM's glomming on to the Jason Arday furore, so he's decided that losing his shit on a saggy sofa for £10 donations is his life now.
Sad times

If Jon Ronson is still looking for people who have blown up their lives due to ‘culture wars’, Jolyon would be a good subject

He would never do that because
a) JM has the 'correct' opinions
b) JM employs an in-house defamation lawyer
c) Ronson is a coward

If they can't face scrutiny from somebody as measured as Barbara Rich, could it be that they might be in the wrong job? Have they been briefed that the whole concept of the Good Law Project is that they take cases to court and that an intrinsic part of that is encountering people who disagree with them?
