Transgender Homicides in Britain, 2000–2025: Victims and Perpetrators

Transgender people are often portrayed as especially vulnerable to violence, but estimating victimization rates is difficult because reliable population denominators are lacking. This paper proposes an alternative approach, comparing the ratio of transgender homicide victims to perpetrators. It analyzes all homicides involving transgender people in Britain from 2000 to 2025. Victims were outnumbered by perpetrators, even excluding those who declared a transgender identity after imprisonment. Almost all cases involved natal males identifying as transwomen. The victim–perpetrator ratio among these individuals closely resembles that for males overall and differs markedly from that for females. BBC News published more than four times as many articles on transgender victims as on perpetrators, contributing to perceptions of exceptional vulnerability.

Labelling people as anti-trans is the beginning, middle and end of their 'argument', so well thought out, evidenced, compelling, convincing and worthy of an Oxford Academic.

I tend to bristle when I am described as trans-exclusionary (I quite often have trans people in my house, and have no trouble buying a drink for (most!) trans people in a bar at an event we coincide at) radical (I'm not particularly: more like an old fashioned anarchist) or feminist (unfortunately "humanist" is already taken to mean something else: maybe I need to call myself a personist. But I am fairly sure that isms are wasms anyway.)

I would be interested in a paper looking at similar ratios and disparities in media reporting for other offences too. Such as assaults not resulting in death and sexual offences.

A brutal murder case involving Kayleigh Woods, a transgender woman born male, and her then-boyfriend Jack Williams has resulted in both being sentenced to life imprisonment.

JENNY SWIFT:
This was a murder but there was no murder conviction, the reason being that the transwoman committed suicide before a trial could take place.

"A dad-of-two was stabbed to death with a kitchen knife by a transgender woman in a booze and drug -fuelled rage, an inquest heard."

GERALD MATOVU:
"Serial killer Stephen Port's ex-drug dealer has been jailed for at least 31 years for murdering a James Bond actor he met on gay dating app Grindr.
Gerald Matovu plied Eric Michels with a fatal dose of the 'chem-sex' drug GHB at his home in Chessington, Surrey, and then made off with his bank card details and other belongings, the Old Bailey heard.

Mr Michels, a HR executive who had an uncredited role in the film Skyfall, was found dead in bed by his 14-year-old daughter in August last year.
He was one of 12 men targeted by Matovu and the killer's lover Brandon Dunbar over a 19-month period, jurors were told.
Following a trial, Matovu was found guilty of Mr Michels' murder and 38 other offences.

The court heard Matovu, from Southwark, south London, had sought help with gender realignment, having identified as female since the age of eight."

I spent several years (after leaving the women’s sector) just ignoring the issue as utter twaddle, just for peace of mind, having lived in a somewhat traumatic profession.

Having head space now, and able to think clearly again i still think on a guttural level that trans ideology, is utter twaddle that no real person in possession of their senses could agree with it.

But what occaisions on here is quite sophisticated arguments against twaddle nevertheless.

ROWAN THOMPSON:
"Teenager stabbed his mum 118 times before telling police to 'bring a body bag'
Rowan Thompson, then 17, calmly rang police and said he needed to be arrested for killing mum Joanna in Hambledon, Hants. He later admitted manslaughter, but was found dead before he could stand trial for murder
Rowan Thompson, 17, said he had killed mum Joanna by strangling her and then stabbed her before putting the knife in the dishwasher and making himself some lunch, an inquest was told.

An inquest into his mother's death today heard Thompson had reassigned his gender to having "no sexuality".

SCARLET BLAKE:
A murderer who led a man to his death and livestreamed the killing of a cat months before has been jailed for a minimum of 24 years.
Scarlet Blake, 26, hit Jorge Martin Carreno before pushing him into the River Cherwell in Oxford in July 2021.
The judge said a Netflix show about killing cats "played a part" in Blake's plan. She was found guilty of murder at Oxford Crown Court last Friday.
Her trial heard she had been on the streets looking for potential victims.
Blake had already admitted a criminal damage charge in relation to the cat.
The Ministry of Justice said Blake, who is transgender, would serve the sentence in a men's prison.

The court previously heard how she arrived in the UK from China aged nine, coming out to her parents as transgender at 12.
She said it "made my father really unhappy and my mother as well" and "caused a large emotional rift".
Jurors were told how Blake, formerly known as Alice Wang, had an "extreme interest in death and... harm" that "went beyond mere fantasy".

ANARLYN JONES:
This murderer is a transman:

"A defendant who cut his mother's throat and blamed demons for the attack has been sentenced to life imprisonment for murder.
Anna Jones, 44, was found dead at her flat in Station Road in Petersfield, Hampshire, at about 20:00 BST on 9 May 2023.
Anarlyn Jones, who was formerly known as Bronwyn Jones but now identifies as male, had denied murder but admitted manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility.
The 26-year-old, of Jacaranda Road, Bordon, was sentenced at Portsmouth Crown Court to life with a minimum term of 20 years and 27 days."

I saw this on twitter and thought of this thread, this analyses the arguments used that we so often see. Often they are in the same post or in subsequent posts.

It has lots of the tactics and soundbites we see. Including the existential leverage - misrepresented claims of historical presence and then the 'erasure' (this moved on to genocide recently).

The critical factor bypass is the part that I think is most relevant for this thread. The complete lack of curiosity about checking the veracity of information independently leading to the repetition of misinformation and the inability to acknowledge that the information they are repeating is not accurate at all.

And then the constant appeal to moral authority when the misinformation is pointed out.

JOANNA ROWLAND-STEWART:
"A jury has found that a transgender woman killed her partner.
Joanna Rowland-Stuart, 71, was charged with murdering Andrew Rowland-Stuart, 70, at their home in Brighton in May 2024.
Following a psychiatric assessment, Ms Rowland-Stuart was deemed unfit to plea.
Following a trial of facts at Lewes Crown Court, a jury agreed that Ms Rowland-Stuart did commit the act and she was given an indefinite Hospital Order Under Section 41 of the Mental Health Act 1983.

Ms Rowland-Stuart, who identifies as a transgender woman, and Mr Rowland-Stuart, known as Andy, had a civil partnership in 2006.
A post mortem concluded that he died from stab wounds and the trial previously heard that she killed him with a samurai sword.
She previously told police that she had acted in self defence at his flat in Lavender Street on 27 May 2024.

Recovered internet searches from Ms Rowland-Stuart's phone in the weeks before the death showed 14 results for swords, including replica swords, curved swords, samurai curved swords, Japanese swords and Japanese sword names, the court was previously told."

AURIN MAKEPEACE:
"On 10 April 2026 at Liverpool Crown Court Aurin Makepeace was jailed for life and must serve a minimum of 27 years before any consideration for release.
Aurin Makepeace, 43, stabbed Steven Rothwell with a kitchen knife at his home in Cross Street, Macclesfield in the early hours of 19 August 2025.
Makepeace, who was born male had known Mr Rothwell for about 12 years after meeting him in a men's prison.

The Crown Prosecution Service said the pathologist found Makepeace’s explanation of why the knife had gone into Mr Rothwell’s chest highly unlikely.
The CPS also highlighted the fact that Makepeace took several hours before she told the police what had happened, lied that she was at the scene when she rang the police and also confessed to friends that she had murdered Mr Rothwell."

ROBERT / EMMA PAGE:
"The family of a Kent man who was beaten to death are campaigning to stop his killer getting a sex change in prison.
Relatives of Clive White have said taxpayers should not pay for treatment for jailed Robert Page, from Sittingbourne, who uses the name Emma.
The Department of Health said prisoners had the right to receive the same NHS services as anyone else.
Disabled Mr White, of Sittingbourne, was attacked with an axe and hammer in 2000. Page was jailed in 2001.
Page, then 24, lived four doors away from Mr White, 56, at the time of the killing.
In 2003, his murder conviction was quashed and his guilty plea to manslaughter was accepted. He is now in HMP Wakefield, West Yorkshire."

CRAIG HUDSON - LATER KIMBERLEY GREEN:
"Four family members and a teenager have been jailed for life for killing a mother they had tortured for months.
The five, described as the "family from hell", were found guilty of murdering Rachel Hudson, 20, whose body was found near Newstead Abbey, Notts, in 2004.
Rachel's husband Craig, 21, his brother Ronald Hudson Jnr, 23, along with their parents Ronald Hudson Snr, 49, and Trudi Hudson, 44, had denied murder.
Elisabeth Hogg, 19, was also convicted. Charlene Hudson, 18, was cleared.
Ronald Hudson Snr and Trudi were both told they will serve a minimum of 20 years in jail.

Ronald Hudson Jnr will serve at least 17 years, Craig Hudson and Elisabeth Hogg will spend a minimum of 14 years in prison.

The court heard she was tortured, insulted and humiliated by the family after she moved in with them in Stockhill, Nottingham, in November 2002.

Prosecutor Timothy Spencer described them as a "family from hell".
He painted a picture of Ronald and Trudi Hudson as a controlling, violent couple who kept a tight rein on their children and who disliked outsiders.
Rachel's battered body was found face down in mud near a lake just 17 months after her wedding.
She had suffered more than 60 injuries at their hands in the weeks before she died.
When she was found, 11 of her ribs were fractured and her mouth was so badly injured that her bottom lip had become detached from her skull.

She had also suffered cigarette burns, scalds and heavy bruising as a result of countless attacks with a baseball bat and a piece of wood.
She eventually died of thrombosis caused by a blood clot in her brain that had been left untreated for weeks. It had been brought on by septicaemia, dehydration and repeated assault.
Home Office pathologist Professor Guy Rutty told the court it was the worst case he had ever seen.
He said: "I see a lot of people who have been beaten. I have to say I have never seen anything like this before.""

KIMBERLEY GREEN AGAIN - TRANSITIONING IN PRISON:
"The Green case involved a prisoner (convicted as Craig Hudson for his part in the torture and murder of his wife and of perverting the course of justice), who in prison changed name to Kimberley Green. It was not about single-sex services, as Green was held in a men’s prison, but the question of whether Green, who had a male appearance and genitalia, was discriminated against by being denied tights, a wig, prosthetic breasts and vaginas (the prison governor argued that these items are a security risk), as well as having difficulty in obtaining other items such as concealer make-up, sanitary towels, hair-removal products and outsize women’s shoes and clothing."

DANIEL / SOPHIE EASTWOOD:
"Trans Scots killer now identifying as infant demands nappies and baby food in jail
Sophie Eastwood, formerly Daniel, is demanding nappies to wear and food to be blended like a baby's and has already been supplied with a dummy at Polmont prison.

Sophie Eastwood was formerly known as Daniel and was jailed for life in 2004 for strangling a cell-mate with shoelaces.
The killer has now told the prison governor at Polmont jail that she wants to identify as a baby, wear nappies and have meals blended like baby food.
Eastwood has also demanded that prison officers hold her hand when she is escorted from her cell.
It is understood that prison bosses are treating the demands seriously and considering which protocols might be established in dealing with the prisoner.

A source said: “This prisoner has been difficult and manipulative over the years, which is why she is still behind bars after 17 years.
“She decided that she would ‘trans’ from a man to woman, which is becoming more common in jails these days.
“But this is obviously something else entirely and the Scottish Prison Service has no protocol in place for dealing with prisoners who decide they are babies.”
The source added: “Eastwood is a complex person and intelligent but she is pretty demanding on the resources of the prison and enjoys being the centre of attention.
"It’s difficult to know if she really does feel a natural inclination to be treated like a baby or if it’s just some kind of attention seeking.
“Modern prisons are very tuned in to human rights and the legal implications they throw up, so it’s being given proper consideration.”
Eastwood, 36, is serving a life sentence for killing Paul Algie, 22, in 2004.
Formerly Daniel Eastwood, she has been living as a woman in jail for four years and completed her 15-year minimum term in 2019."

NICOLLE / KOBI EARLY:
The 2nd transman:
"A murderer who killed as a woman at the age of 16 is living as a trans man in Scotland’s women-only jail.
Nicolle Earley was one of Scotland’s youngest killers when jailed in 2010 for the brutal murder of pensioner Ann Gray in her home.

Now living as a man, and using the name ‘Kobi’, Earley is being housed in the admission hall at HMP Stirling, which is normally reserved for new offenders.
Earley has been convicted of multiple violent crimes while inside and was recently accused of grabbing a female officer by the hair and punching her in the face.

The prisoner, now 32, was given a minimum sentence of 14 years in 2014 for the senseless murder but has collected further sentences due to violent and erratic behaviour inside.
The killer has posed extra difficulties for the Scottish Prison Service, which has been under intense pressure due to the gender wrangles concerning male-to female trans prisoners like Isla Bryson and Tiffany Scott in recent months.

A source said: “This case is extraordinary because we have a very violent woman who now identifies as a man.
“The SPS is in a quandary as to where to house him, as there would be clear risks in putting such a person straight into the male prison estate.
“Earley’s case is very different to that of Isla Bryson and others who were seen as chancers who sought to improve their jail experience by changing gender.
“Staff have felt he has genuinely felt himself to be male and has been identifying as such for several years, before the latest trans stuff became global news. The problem is that the SPS does not have accommodation that would tick all the boxes for such a difficult prisoner.”
