Sadly, not a Monty Python sketch.

Matt Rattley, a large bearded bloke who wears giant fake breasts, appears to be happily working at Oxford Uni.

I was really hoping this wasn't true but there is even a youtube video with him talking while wearing the giant breasts and red lipstick, applied to a degree any circus clown would be accused of overdoing it. The video includes a slide stating he works as a lecturer and tutor in the Biochemistry Dept at Oxford. He's also on LinkedIn.

I mean, how obvious can it be that this is a sexual fetish which he is involving unconsenting students and staff in???

Dr P on X has been (correctly) very robust on this case:

""This is Matt Rattley saying, "I can do whatever I please and nobody can stop me".

This is highly antisocial, abnormal, boundary-violating, paraphilic behaviour.

And we should not be afraid to say so."

exactly - I mean apparently Oxford university is a safe space for weird ppl and not an institute for teaching and learning as I stupidly always thought it was what with having university in the tittle so turning up dressed like that should be fine shouldn't it? And not all offensive

I do agree. I thought universities were spaces where ideas could be challenged and robust discussions could be had that would enable people to learn and develop critical thinking skills and departing skills. Apparently not.

Nobody was "born a woman". A woman is an adult human female.

AccordingToWhom · 26/04/2026 10:34

Has he made an internet thread about you asking lots of people to point, laugh and be disgusted by him?

Well no, because we're not parading an obvious fetish in public, in front of teenagers. HTH.

Has he made an internet thread about you asking lots of people to point, laugh and be disgusted by him? Right then. Why are you doing that about someone you don‘t know? What you are doing is online bullying, and kinda online stalking. It‘s weird to choose a non-celebrity and search the internet for their work place and find photos of them at normal events that have nothing to do with their fetish or extra-curricular activities, and then encourage other people to do the same. Your main issue seems to be that he has a job at a good university and is being allowed to function as a human. Have you decided he is not allowed to do that because he is a bit weird? What would you like to happen to him? Would you ideally prefer it if he was put in prison, shunned, stoned for being weird? Last time I checked, fundamental British values included, ‚you can live as you like if it doesn‘t harm others’. And no, just because you re-frame it as ‚involving others in a fetish‘ doesn’t mean you are being harmed, because you don‘t work with him or have to see him or interact with him at all.

Don't tell me how to react to a man in power abusing it in plain sight.

Haha yes. I can see where you‘ve got the idea I’m a trans woman from. I‘ve used that username a lot in the past as when I first started using the Internet, I was at uni in LADY Margaret Hall, Oxford. And they give out usernames like this. That gives you my rough age too :D

He loves wearing big boobs. It‘s weird. Oxford is full of weird people. It‘s a safe space for weird people. I fitted in there better than at school where I was very gently bullied for being a little bit awkward and having a too long skirt, a satchel and grey pull up socks. (no massive fake boobs I promise!). I just personally think, you folks might be going down a rabbit hole, when you are ‚stalking‘ people online because they are weird. But go for it I guess 🤷🏻‍♀️

All socks have to be pulled up, don't they?

A bearded lady...? 🤔

If he didn't want people to point, laugh and be disgusted by him, the easiest solution would be not to wear a ridiculous woman costume with giant fake breasts to work.

It's his choice. The fact that he has chosen to do this indicates that he wants the attention.

I'm sure he gets off on the fear and disgust he sees on the faces of the women who come into contact with him. It's what it's all about.

GirlsInGreen · 26/04/2026 10:39

Really interesting post N.Cunningham wondering if this amounts to harrasment on a mass scale.
Grades allowing my DD is going to Oxford this year - thankfully not St Hildas.

I asked her would she be bothered if she bumped into Matt & his huge plastic breasts, shes tiny & admits she'd be freaked out but too terriified to say anything, even if in a single sex space (i dont think theres been any hint that he uses SSS but who knows?)

I fucking hate these men who can't keep their paraphillia under control & deliberately involve others in it. And shame on Oxford & St Hildas in particular for not telling this prick (and others like him at the Uni) to knock it on the head.

So sick of these cunts.

The point is everyone knows about fucking huge fake breasts. They turn corners before he does.

WittyLimeBiscuit · 26/04/2026 10:40

If a woman turned up in black-face she would be marched out by security. How is a man turning up in woman-face deemed to be OK?

So basically, you’re sticking up for him because he’s at Oxford.
Well I went to an East London Comprehensive where no one would have stood for this behaviour. And I’m very happy about that.

Justme56 · 26/04/2026 10:43

He’s just being his authentic self so we’ve been led to believe. I guess when we have actual laws that say people can reassign their gender, with no actual definitions of what this actually means there will be people who will do exactly what they want to the point of extremes.

If a woman did something like this she would be marched into HR.

But Matt is stunning and brave.

Exactly, can you imagine the outrage if a woman wore a giant phallus, knitted from machine washable wool, with glittery embellishments, and expected to be taken seriously in her job?

Far from being the mean girls at school, I think a large proportion of posters here were more likely to have been, like you, the less "cool" (ugh!), more independent kids. So many of us were resolutely gender-non-conforming, at least. It's that tendency that's made us so wary of trans ideology and the gendered stereotypes (see OP!) it embraces.

FWIW, I actually share your concerns to some degree about threads critiquing people who haven't put themselves in the public eye. But I wanted to post this because I do think you risk oversimplifying a complex issue.

The parallel you draw between you in your long skirt and neat socks and this guy is actually really ironic.

You: vulnerable, younger female
Him: professional older male

You: resisting stereotypes of femininity
Him: embracing these in a self-evidently fetishistic way (I mean, come on!)

You: likely trying to blend into the background (apologies if not)
Him: must be aware of the attention and unease his appearance courts

I mean, there's no comparison!

Posters here would say his behaviour totally legitimises this discussion and, honestly, I think I come down more on their side than yours - a kind of uncomfortable 70:30. I mean, yes, the people around him who work for and under, and are taught by, him should be the ones calling this out if it makes them uncomfortable. And maybe they are, maybe they're not. Who knows? But in the meantime, he's still doing it. And it makes us uncomfortable just to know that, because of the implications for society.

This "bring your whole self to work" can actually only work if some lines are drawn. Boundaries are the glue holding everything together. Dissolve them completely and our more vulnerable groups suffer. Kids have a right not to be exposed to the darker sides of adult sexuality - hence the watershed. And in a professional or public environment, I'd say women have the right not to be used as (overused phrase here, but that's only cos it's so perfect) unconsenting props in a man's fetish. Both are an issue in this individual's behaviour. And he invites criticism because of that.

popery · 26/04/2026 10:50

I wouldn’t know or care if someone was wearing a buttplug at work.

If they were wearing a t-shirt that read "I a wearing a buttplug" would that be ok or problematic?

ginasevern · 26/04/2026 10:52

@Lady1576

Is he claiming to be a transwoman? Because if he is, he is seriously damaging trans credibility. If he's wearing giant, comedy breasts because it's a fetish then it's highly unprofessional and could offend many of his students. I believe there are times when the clothes you wear to work should be questioned. That's not bullying. And just for the record I was never remotely a mean girl or a bully. Quite the opposite.

MabelAnderson · 26/04/2026 10:54

Theeyeballsinthesky · 26/04/2026 10:20

. It‘s a safe space for weird people.

no it's a fucking university! Safe space for weird ppl - ffs

and what about the non weird ppl who don't want a bloke parading giant comedy breasts at them while he lectures/tutors? Or are they not allowed a 'safe space'?

Edited

This ! Dd hasn’t come across him yet, he is based at a different college but he is in her field so she may do. Why should any woman have to go along with this ? It’s a total mockery of women as a sex. I have never seen a female academic at work dressed like this, it’s hardly appropriate work dress , even if he was female and had real breasts.
It’s deeply creepy and he must know that he makes students uncomfortable, and so one can only assume that he enjoys doing just that.

Shortshriftandlethal · 26/04/2026 10:54

What is it with men and their furtive little proclivities?

Catiette · 26/04/2026 10:55

Plus, speaking for myself - and PP says the same about her daughter upthread - I'd genuinely struggle to access lectures and seminars with this guy. I'd find it distressing and humiliating. Which, frankly, says it all. Inclusion of some will always mean exclusion of others ins some way and to some degree. I'm on the side of the teenaged females coming up to uni. and feeling silenced by an ideology that says their discomfort affecting their access to and enjoyment of their education is nothing relative to his discomfort were he forbidden from dressing as he wishes for the 8 hours a day spent at work.

Precisely. No woman would over-sexualise herself at work, she'd lay herself open to very obvious criticism - some of it sexist, some of it justified - and not be taken seriously. Women who have very generous breasts don't go out of their way to reveal them in a professional setting like this guy does.

I am sorry for the ear worm, but if I am going to suffer it all day I don’t see why the rest of you should get away scot free.
