All females welcome for intelligent discourse and non-harmful comestibles.

I should clarify that when I said 'it's not April/it's not May without...' I was referring to my childhood radio universe, that's all, obviously not everybody's!

AsWithGlad · 13/04/2026 09:50

to everyone her pleasure and a gay heart💙 !

Thank you for the toast, Marie.

We used to sing, “All in the April Evening” at school. It might even have been one of the choir’s competition pieces in the local music festival. I don’t remember us ever winning.

Waitwhat23 · 13/04/2026 10:02

I couldn't think from the title what the song sounded like but on listening to it, I realised that I have sung it many times! Gloriously precise singing by that choir.

FuzzyPuffling · 13/04/2026 10:31

I've sung it a lot too.
Anyone in a choir who hasn't?

FuzzyPuffling · 13/04/2026 10:32

I think the Bluey needs a guinea pig choir who would do a very good version.

I'm now picturing a mixed-rodent barbershop quartet. Are guinea pigs higher or lower pitched than gerbils?

FuzzyPuffling · 13/04/2026 11:14

Lower, I think. But i love @Waitwhat23 's version. They look very barbershop.

Waitwhat23 · 13/04/2026 11:17

No scientific basis to this but I would assume (on the basis of a SATB choir) -

Hamsters - Soprano
Gerbils - Alto
Guinea Pigs - Tenor
Rats - Bass

Chersfrozenface · 13/04/2026 11:17

Guinea pigs have quite a range - from high-pitched wheeking to low-pitched rumbling.

They're surprisingly loud for small animals when their humans do anything relating to feeding them.

FranticFrankie · 13/04/2026 11:21

Love love love guinea pigs 😍

The chocolate pudding I used to love was the one in a small blue and white can for weaning babies ?Heinz
I used to snaffle a bit when my mum was feeding my sister. If i was good, she'd buy me my own can. It was gorgeous 😍

I was thinking capybara for the basses, but that leaves a big gap between them and the little ones.

AsWithGlad · 13/04/2026 11:37

Does Rosie sing, do we know?

She might be an alto, or a light tenor.

Magpiecomplex · 13/04/2026 11:42

Giant Wombat is probably a basso profundo. Although she is a ghost, so maybe not a very loud one.

AsWithGlad · 13/04/2026 11:57

Tell me more of this Resident Ghost.
I had missed this striking aspect of The Giant Wombat. Are there myths accounts of her creation?

Perhaps we need a separate capybaras and badgers choir - like the human concept of a male voice choir, albeit not male in this case? Although this is the season when baby badger cubs emerge from their setts, and they have quite high pitched voices.

That's the benefit of 3 arms. Two hands on the table top, the picture of innocence. Third hand, sneaky sneaky, into the baby's dinner.

When we arrived she was there, in an upstairs room, weeping. Weeping all the time. So we tried to cheer her up and it worked! She likes the gerbils. And she likes cheese.

Ambrosia chocolate custard is rather delicious.

The American chocolate pudding recipe I have requires:
3/4 cup of sugar
1/3 cup cocoa powder
2 tbsp cornflour
2 2/3 cups milk
4 beaten egg yolks
1 tbsp butter
1 1/2 tsp vanilla

I've never made it, but if anyone wants the directions I'm happy to supply them.

Have you told Uncanny? It's about time they had a happy ghost on there.

AlexandraLeaving · 13/04/2026 15:06

For those not following the WH thread in detail, I just wanted to say it may be worth popping over to see @ifIwerenotanandroid 's gerbiltastic offerings. Waffle will be really touched by them. Thank you for doing them. They are perfect. x

AsWithGlad · 13/04/2026 15:14

Thank you very much, @Magpiecomplex and @DeanElderberry for reminding me about The Giant Wombat. I had completely forgotted.

I was a ghost once. In Ruddigore.
