We have MI5, and all these other clever spooks, are they as bothered about these nutters as they are about the animal rights activists and so on?

Having seen animal rights activists and trans rights activists, I’d say there’s a big overlap. Quite possibly the same people just out for a fight.

@SinnerBoy I think you meant “proscribed”? Prescribed is the very opposite 🙂

Comments not enabled for that article. I wonder why not.

I think there’s an issue with Times commenting at the moment as I can’t see them if I read it on my phone browser but can on the App. DH has the opposite problem and can only see them on his phone browser and not the app. I’m an Apple and he’s an Android.

HermioneWeasley · 06/04/2026 10:56

If the government were remotely serious about VAWG thy would actually do something about these disgusting men

Sparkles could use his ginormous comedy lady shoes if he didn’t have a hammer.

🤣🤣🤣

TinDogTavern · 06/04/2026 11:02

Trans definitions of violence:

Smashing windows to intimidate women, and causing £000s of criminal damage (Bash Back, at Filia): non-violent

misgendering: literal violence.

It's basically a copy and paste of the Palestine Action handbook. Probably a lot of the same people involved.

In terms of the white middle class Palestine activists Venn diagram.

Maybe not so much the aggrieved Dawah Bros like Shahid Butt or Akhmed Yakoob who are standing on Gaza tickets. I'd pay to watch Bash Back try to recruit activists to allow Transwomen into the women's section of local mosques though

Seriestwo · 06/04/2026 11:33

TeflonBoot · 06/04/2026 00:22

Sparkles is involved with that lot isn't he?

“Poppy bear”, the newsts member of the polycule had on a bash back badge I. The fist video I saw of him in Ewan’s Twitter. Long before Filia or anything. It might have been when Ewan had his bra fitting at M&S. I think in Cambridge. Poppy was in a scooter and had on a military type vest, which is what caught my attention. The badge was on tha if my memory is correct.

Thingybob · 06/04/2026 12:04

I don't think it's been mentioned here yet but Jolyon Maugham and Bash Back follow each other on Bluesky.

The government was contacted for comment. A spokesman previously said: “The rhetoric from this group is dangerous and only seeks to distract from our work to improve the lives of trans people.”

Newsflash: these are the same people who have been cheerleading and even advising government for the past ten years who have since thrown their toys out the pram because they aren't getting everything their own way.

And straight to the trans people - no acknowledgement that women will be at the receiving end of these weapons.

Yes there appears to be quite an overlap. I also have suspicions about the involvement of the Mermaids Mango programme in radicalising many of these young people.

The non-violent direct action promoted by Bash Back is the inevitable, and I would say legitimate, response to a society whose institutions, politics and media systematically dehumanise trans people. No pasarán.

When I read this the other day I assumed comments were not enabled, but soon saw that comments were absent from everything. A quick google and the problem seemed to be with my version of Android on my Samsung tablet. I installed the Times app from the Play Store and it's now showing comments again.

MarjorieWestriding · 06/04/2026 12:55

What do the comments say, @TeaAndStrumpets ?

Yet more proof that this is a delusional mental illness, with vulnerable people being encouraged to believe that they are being persecuted.

Oppression? They have the same exact rights as everyone else, via protected characteristics. More so in fact as they are largely seen as vulnerable.

These are just criminals, pure and simple.

I can’t agree that socialism is the purveyor of violence look at world history as much violence has come from the right as the left.

Look at the rhetoric of POTUS, he’s hardly leftist.

They really do see themselves as brave freedom fighters, don't they? The cosplaying action is strong with this bunch Hmm

As for their activities, if you're going to play fast and loose with the law anyway I'd not want to be taking legal advice from the GLP. In fact, I'd not take advice from them as to what day of the week it is.

Palestine Action also claim to be non-violent despite breaking a police woman's spine with a sledgehammer.
