I don't think even the SNP government is likely to put Serenity in a women's prison. But maybe I'm wrong. Maybe Serenity's human right to have Serenity's sense of womanhood recognised overrides the rights of every woman in the women's prison. Especially if the SNP do a deal with the Greens again after the elections this spring. It will be very interesting to see the decision in the current Scottish Government / For Women Scotland court case on the issue.

At least this article doesn’t refer to him as a woman. It’s not much, but by acknowledging that he is a He, and only referencing him being trans, not saying he’s a woman, it’s a step in the right direction.

They literally cannot stop themselves. Which is why they are such a danger. Although there is a definite question as to whether if they had the right intervention sooner (ie recognition of their fetishes and where they might lead instead of being actively supported to escalate), would they still go on to commit these awful crimes? Someone said on another thread that over 2/3 of transwomen in Scottish prisons are there for sexual offences. That's obviously significantly more than the proportion of women there for those types of crimes but I suspect also more than the other men? Where is the research on this? Why are we not seeing these patterns at a societal scale? The TRA lobby have been so strong that even writing this until a few years ago would have been immediately removed. Again, huge thanks to the photographer of the pink leggings, which represented a real turning point in Scotland. We're making progress and the public get it, but they always have, they just weren't allowed to say it for about ten years! But now we need to see real research demonstrating that in many cases this is a fetish and a precursor to exceptionally problematic behaviour.
