New support group for mothers of trans ID children

There is going to be an in-person support group on 28th February in Brighton.

I know some mums are going through hell with their teenagers or adult children and this is a safe space to express concerns about medical pathways etc and get support from others going through the same thing.

Please share with any mums going through this who are in need of support.

First of all thanks for sharing this, hope it goes well.

But have to add given the harassment of the venue you booked whether this venue will be lobbied.

Sad to say, but probably sensible.

I just clicked the link and although it says the location will be released on the day, there is a Google map with a pin in a location - they may want to remove this!

There are vague threats on Reddit, I wonder if Sussex police would take an interest. Of course Sian Berry can always predict trouble (but do nothing about it).

Brighton seems like somewhere that would be full of parents of trans/gender questioning children, so ideal for this meeting.

It's a war, meetings like these are the trenches, or action deep in enemy territory.

Thanks for flagging! It was showing the completely wrong location which isn’t much help to the women who book. Should all be fixed now and the map removed.

I see it as simple supply and demand. There is a group of women going through quite a specific and emotionally complex journey being the mothers of trans ID children and Sisters Heal is there to meet a need.

Same as women who need single sex rape crisis support as they have male triggered trauma - Sisters Heal was set up to help that unmet need too.

The trans activists seem to be claiming on that thread that this is war on trans rights but I don’t think the women who use SH are spoiling for a fight, they just want some help.

They think everything is a war on trans rights. Don't pay them no mind.

It’s obviously not war, but TRAs seem to only have a very short list of things women are allowed to talk about without their approval, before they run in and set off a fire alarm, or let a load of crickets loose.

Or smash up the building and spray paint everywhere (Brighton centre, October 25).

I cannot see how anyone thinks these people are the good guys.

Whether war is too strong a word or inappropriate, it's certainly a battle, what you could call a battle of ideas, a battle for the soul of society
Unfortunately women are bringing a knife to a gunfight.
Women want to talk calmly, discuss, work things through.
TRAs want to smash the place up, certainly not to have any good faith discussion.

It’s just so sad isn’t it? I don’t even think women are bringing a knife to a gunfight, they’re trying to get support for the repercussions of gun violence but every support group is held at a shooting range.

Let me ask you, had JKR not started speaking up in 2019, had Helen Joyce, Victoria Smith, Julie Bindel etc not spoken up loudly and continuously, had Sex Matters and For Women Scotland not existed, had Sunak Badenoch not taken SNP to court over Article 20, had May Mordaunt Millar instigated Self ID unopposed when in govt, had Trump not set out his stall on men in women's sport, had Harris won in 2024 and entrenched funding for TIMs in women's jails, etc etc etc, where do we think women would be right now.

I'd call this a war.
Maybe a cold war, but a war nevertheless.

I'm afraid TRA post modern and post liberal appropriating of language and setting the rules on linguistics mean that women might bring a knife to a gunfight, but then find their knife is one made of paper or rubber.
The only place where language rules and gender critical reality wins, is in court.
Look at the SCOTUS discussion on Title IX...the genderwang sent their best legal representatives in the form of ACLU.
And what happened when the judges asked them simple Qs, like define men and women.
They couldn't do it, or more accurately, they refused to do it, retreating to obfuscation and fantastical statements.
My favourite, and one for the ages, being that men have an advantage in sport, but men can't be defined.
There was nowhere else to go in the courtroom, the TRA warp hit the implacable wall of reality.
Unfortunately in the rest of society, there is no similar demands for clarity and common sense, just a retreat to superstition and childish demands, allowed to dominate by the cowards in charge.
Meaning a group of parents meeting to discuss issues close to their heart are at risk of sabotage, and those in positions of power to help them either egg it on, or look the other way.

I think it would be great if we didn't allow one of the usual disrupters to hijack this thread.

The thread is about letting women know, who might be interested about a meeting.

Just for once could we have some respect.

There is nothing to stop those who have a different view to start their own thread about their position.

Yes of course, thank you. He may know some mothers who would benefit. It’s hard to spread the word via social media other than MN as it just attracts a huge TRA pile on.

I was going to ask about that. Whether to share this info on line.

Or is the focus more word of mouth locally?
