Presumably the NICS would keep the consultations and input they collated though?

NIPSA were coordinating their responses to the draft NICS document I think.

Yes if there is information generating from or in relation to TUS held by an NI department, then that would be discoverable. But you can’t make an FOI to a trade union itself.

Are the women in these photos (Sarah Morrison et al) trans? Genuine question.

Which photos?

Who is Sarah Morrison et al?

I guess asking NICS for the submissions they received from NIPSA and any associated communications would be the starting point there

£40,000 per year is more than 85% of the population earn.

Many people in the UK have a very skewed idea of what they earn compared to others. Remember that knob in the audience on Question Time who wouldn’t accept that he was in the upper 5% of earners.

Edited

Indeed!

What makes you think that? Look like women to me.

NIPSA heidyins pretend they don't know what the words man and woman man.

This also think this sort of nonsense is a good use of funds: Nipsa: Tribunal criticises union in 'communist' dispute - BBC News

Thanks for this. I don't think a press item about an industrial tribunal has ever made me laugh out loud before. 😂Most amusing.

moto748e · 17/11/2025 11:39

The tribunal noted that "as Communist coups go, it was hardly the storming of the Winter Palace". 😂

"As Communist coups go, it was hardly the storming of the Winter Palace." Bet the tribunal judge had fun writing that... 😂

Seriously, though, how useless are these people?

A question for the autoclave owners.
Will they fit in the press or do you have to take the toaster out?

My Autoclave lives in my dental practice. But if I were forced to move it into a domestic setting, the toaster would be toast, yes

Madcats · 17/11/2025 11:53

All I want for Christmas is BIGLY BIGLY AUTOCLAVE

BettyBooper · 17/11/2025 11:54

Looking at this again, there is a certain irony in this article from 2002.

Everyone was very happy that more women have been appointed to the Board, including Our Dr Prof Debs.

Seems she did well, back in the times when people knew what a woman was. Who would have been targeted had the campaign been run now, I wonder ...🤔

I suppose there's some parallel here with the goings-on at Drax power station in England. I did some work there way back, must be fifteen years ago now, and even back then, the engineers there were all saying what a racket it was, how there was nothing green about it anyway (mind you, they'd have just carried on burning coal if they'd had their way).

There was a TW employed at a certain power station about 40 years ago. “Dave” went home on the Friday and “Davina” came to work on the Monday, a new toilet was constructed for them apparently. Knowing how male-dominated the industry was (and still is) at the time it probably raised less eyebrows than an actual woman working there.

Yes.

The same as NIPSA putting forward a motion for gender neutral language in documents, and general.neutral.tpikets in buildings but also motons around miscarriage, menopause and women's support.

Confusion abounds

VeraAtkins · 17/11/2025 12:07

What time is it today? Is it 13:30?

Thanks

Boiledbeetle · 17/11/2025 12:11

Anyone want to buy an autoclave, or two, for Christmas?

They're legit.

Honest.

Ah, the beforetimes, when there was no mystery as to who/what a woman was,
Will we ever get back to that?
@VeraAtkins It starts at 2pm: In theory

VeraAtkins · 17/11/2025 12:21

So any time then? Going by the way these things normally go. I shall be alert from 13:30 onwards, poised like a crouching tiger ready to pounce.

I think I was responsible for some of the Cash for Ash speculation, either in this thread or the previous one - sorry!

I think the period where the Cash for Ash scam was ongoing was a period where there was a lot of interest in green energy/fuel, including biofuel and also reducing landfill. So there would have been money available for startups that wanted to produce green(ish) energy and reduce waste going to incineration/landfill.

As pp have said, the Cash for Ash fuel was wood pellets, not something made from landfill-type waste. But at that time, the idea that you could make fuel pellets from waste was probably quite attractive and could garner seed funding etc - which seems to be what happened with Re3, which had money from a US investor.

The US investor should have done a bit more digging and discovered how much trouble a large government laboratory had attempting to do the same thing in the 70s and 80s.

I'm not saying someone with no scientific training will never solve a problem that's stumped several teams of government scientists - sometimes an outsider with a fresh perspective is exactly what's needed - but I'd want some pretty convincing evidence before handing over cash.

Honest.

How about you give me 10.

Then I get an article published about how I am using 10 of your machines, with a link to your website.

You then publish a social media post about how successfully I am using your machines

Then we apply for grant funding for me to buy more machines off you

Then we both join an advisory group supporting other people to use funding to buy your machines

Then we attend a conference talking about how brilliant autoclaves are?
