Five nurses working at Darlington Memorial Hospital have filed a legal case suing their employer, an NHS trust, for sexual harassment and sex discrimination. The nurses object to sharing the women’s changing facilities with a male colleague, Rose, who identifies as female. The hearing started on October 20th, with evidence starting on October 22nd and is scheduled to last 3 weeks. To view the hearing online requests for access had to be made by October 17th. The hearing is being live tweeted by Tribunal Tweets who have background to this case on their substack. The Judge made clear at the start of the public hearing on Day 1 that only TT or press have permission to tweet. If online observers see/hear something in the court that isn’t reported by TT, we don’t mention it until the next time there’s a break. This is a very cautious approach to avoid any accusations of “live reporting” on MN. Commentary on the content of TT tweets is fine as soon as they’re posted on X.

A man stripping down to his underwear in the ladies is evidence of his super special inner feelings, and so must be honoured, nay, treasured, as the marginalised, vulnerable, delicate and special brave chap that she is.

So far I have had my breakfast, my lunch, a packet of crisps and a Club (no Tunnocks in the house, sad times).

Workmen in the house so I am confined to the kitchen with the dogs, which is great for following the tribunal, but not so great for my waistline. I'll have to take the dogs out eventually and sod's law the tribunal will resume!

I had all morning clear for desk work but my meetings start again at 12. Expect things to kick off then!

I was going to wait until lunch for my fish finger sandwich, but I might give in and have it now.

As we cant all hug them a reminder that Support the Darlington Nurses will find a garden where we could all put a flower or 2.

If this delay goes on for ages do we think that means RH may run into tomorrow?

I have got shit I should be doing but instead I’m sitting here with split screen (get me) pressing refresh on here and nitter - on tenterhooks

Anyone else remember during the waits in the Peggie trial there was a lot of chat about scones and in piped someone letting everyone off for being off topic.

At least we're not getting scolded over early lunches today. Although I've already had two breakfasts and am so bored I could eat again.... maybe a tea instead.

If he is going to appear I hope Rose is treated exactly the same as other witnesses. It appears that nothing has been out of bounds up to now, so there's no reason why he can't be questioned in the same way as everyone else.

Are there discussions going on about pronouns I wonder? I think it has been established that where gender v sex is at the heart of a case, it is OK to use the pronoun corresponding to a person's sex.
