Keira Knightley - they don’t accept her apology apparently

Has anyone seen the clip from a KK interview, doing the rounds on X?
Shes voicing Umbridge in the new audiobook.

She was asked ‘Are you aware that some fans are calling for a boycott, given JKR’s ongoing campaign against trans people?’ to which she responds ‘I was not aware of that, no. I’m very sorry’. Then laughs.

She then says ‘We’re all living in a period of time right now, and we’re all going to have to figure out how to live together, aren’t we? And we’ve all got very different opinions. So I hope we can all find respect’

TRA reaction is as expected.

And her ‘apology’ is Not. Accepted:

I don't accept Keira Knightley's apology for working with JK Rowling

Being a trans ally and a Keira Knightley fan are – to my grave disappointment – now mutually exclusive.

Anyone else googling Keira every day to see if she's been forced by Her People to make a statement?

The fallout from that one simple dismissive shrug brings home that TRAs have serious mummy issues. It's the uncooperative / unaffirming / unloving mother that must be punished, far more than the father/male.

I hope she regrets nothing and says nothing. Unfortunately the dispropropotionate, crazy reaction to anodyne comments like hers serves as a threat and warning to other women to toe the line, or else.

If they could march her down to the village stocks for punishment and re-education they absolutely bloody would.

They would wouldn’t they. They are this generation’s witchfinder generals that us women have to fight. Over and over again it seems in different guises 🙄

It is hilarious watching the twans community lose their shit online because they no longer have the influence to cancel celebrities anymore. They have gone from the overlords of online discourse to a bunch of whiny losers in five years and it is very very funny.

Aromantic asexual lesbian, I think.

Emily's article reads like something a very earnest 17 year old with an over-estimated sense of self would write as they proffer the world the benefit of their fledging wisdom. Meantwhile, the grown ups make supporting noises and go about their business unimpeded.

Sad times for Emily - I hope her wee heart recovers.

That sounds like another Bennet sister. I can imagine Mary reading Judith Butler and coming out with incomprehensible quotations at inappropriate moments.

She wasn't apologising. She was clearly laughing at the question. She said the word sorry in that English way meaning 'sorry you are being so ridiculous'

When I finally saw the clip with the «apology» it got me howling with laughter! And I rewatched it 30 times and laughed each time, the clip is only a few seconds. And I instantly liked this Keira Knightley immensely.

You can see a laugh is building up already when the woke reporter starts speaking, I think she is even biting her lip to suppress her smile. Her whole face is smiling ear to ear and she can barely finish «I’m very sorry» before she bursts out in laughter at how ridiculous it is.

How can the woke journalist call this a gracious response?: «I commend her gracious response in that moment, even though I find it hard to believe she hasn’t seen Rowling’s comments»

To me it’s a glorious response and I think the world is finally healing!

Well, EB is definitely on record as being transgender and has written about the journey, but I appreciate that may simply mean NB.

it may have been me misinterpreting her pictures - makeup and filter use means that sometimes young women look less natural and it’s easy to question.

I’ve obviously called this one wrong… so clearly was being a bit transphobic in this instance. Will have that comment deleted.

Edited

Far enough you’ve said you called this wrong, and deleted the post where you presumably said she was a trans woman, but I have to say she’s not on record as being transgender or talking about her journey and is not non-binary either. She identifies as a queer woman (in her case either a bi or a lesbian female).

borntobequiet · 18/10/2025 09:38

In solidarity with Keira, last night I watched the new thing she’s in on Netflix. Everything about it was good - as was she, very good - apart from the actual plot, which is ridiculous, tedious and transparent. Luckily one is distracted by the terrific locations and the acting sufficiently to ignore the storyline.

What I am loving about this whole Harry Potter Full Cast audio book thing is how well Audible have handled it. They cast superb British actors (basically anyone who hadnd't already been involved in the TV series or films 😆), recorded the whole thing in secret, then started a series of announcements of the cast. At which, the transes and wokes lost their shit and demanded the announced actors turn the part down and denounce JKR and all her ways. But - too late! It's already in the can.

Just delicious. A lot of them are also upset about Michelle Gomez being in it, like they own anyone who has ever acted a queer character or been in Dr Who. The TEMERITY!!!

Well, keep having your little mantrums fellas, nobody is listening any more. Your power to cancel people has been - cancelled.

TheBlueHotel · 18/10/2025 10:19

I've just looked and it's available for pre order. I will definitely be downloading them when they are all out!

Jake Graf who incidentally has been posting this week about how her work opportunities involving trans training/advocacy etc are dwindling away

That’s ok, now Jake can stop bothering with the testosterone and go back to being an out of work actor with a reduced risk of osteoporosis…

When someone is eventually brave enough to commission a Mr Bates V’s the Post Office style drama about the 4 women Scotland Supreme Court case, who will Keira knightly play?

She is a trans ally, and upon hearing the news KK was involved, said it was a ‘knife through her heart’ (a ‘particularly sharp’ one).

It’s hard for me to pick a favourite line in this article, so many to chose from!

Would this be same knife that follows Lily Tino around, just itching to strike through the heart?

It is a good strategy but, of course, authoritarian illiberal gotta authoritarianly illiberal

Peaknique · 19/10/2025 09:31

Well, yes. They can't stop anyone acting in it, so they're going to try and physically attack or disrupt the sets.

Now, as we know, they can attack women with impunity. But a huge American production isn't going to sit back and let the trancels cost it money or production time. One or two arrests and sentences will probably reduce them all to impotent frothing on Reddit. (Where they are stupid enough to write about all this.)

borntobequiet · 19/10/2025 09:46

What a way to gain friends and influence people, trying to disrupt the filming of something millions of people are looking forward to.

Absolute wallies.
