You have to watch the vid to get it. That is a classic British "sorry" used as a weapon. The media are spinning this as Kiera apologising. That is a posh British women very much NOT apologising and dismissing the entire idea of doing so.

Keira’s laugh says it all. Trans extremism has peaked and no one is afraid of it any more.

Asked if she knew that “some fans are calling for a Harry Potter boycott”.

Knightley said: “I was not aware of that, no. I’m very sorry. You know, I think we’re all living in a period of time right now where we’re all going to have to figure out how to live together, aren’t we? And we’ve all got very different opinions.”

She added: “I hope that we can all find respect.”

We are winning.

I know it would be nice if all women said what we really think openly. However many women don't feel comfortable doing that. Keira has a career to think about, but we know which side she is on. Women do say what they think on Mumsnet though and in private. Fighting back includes open defiance, and not so subtle digs and many many women specialise in that.

One of the biggest attempted cancelations in history and it is suddenly no longer relevant or even happened.

It is very irritating at one level, but this is exactly how we win. The idea of cancelling women over trans stuff is a JOKE.

One of my sons forwarded me this:

No idea what the channel's like, but this video is pretty optimistic.

It's just occurred to me that Harry Potter is practically the only entertainment franchise left standing. The Rings of Power (LOTR) has been a flop, the various superhero franchises have all had cataclysmic flops. The latest Snow White flop was so bad it has basically put an end to Disney's live action remakes. Star Wars is in the doldrums. Toy Story's Buzz Lightyear was a flop. Even Dr. Who, which was picked up by Disney in search of new IP, was a total flame out. 🤔

I love Keira for this. Such a confident and elegant response to an idiotic question.

I would love to have the poise to deal with TRAs like this.

Lovely article, but I'm sad to learn that many children prefer audiobooks to reading... I don't think it can play the same role in their intellectual and creative development. But I guess that's just me being a hag.
(Much as I love IKR and HP, my boys may not watch any movie until they have read the corresponding book, to avoid their imagination going lazy)

Still NO apology for from Keira almost a month later.

The attempted cancelation has crashed and burned.

Just laugh at this stuff. That is the lesson here.

I thought the ‘sorry’ was a brilliantly dismissive ‘apology’ for not knowing what the interviewer was talking about (whether she did or not!)
As in “did you know that…….?”
“No, sorry, I didn’t (and what’s more I don’t give a toss).”

Kiera Knightley was never going to say anything to bring a sister down. Look at her projects - from Bend It Like Beckham, to Black Doves and Misbehaviour, she chooses projects that centre women and women’s rights, and she walks the walk in real life too.

(Apart from Love, Actually. But we’ll draw a veil over that, because it was a looooong time ago, and it’s also shit).

Kiera Knightley is a real one. I like her.

ErrolTheDragon · 05/11/2025 09:42

Yeah, we can definitely let her off Love Actually - so many talented actors, she was in good company there.

I think they’d all been hypnotised by Creepy Curtis.

She was also only 17. https://www.theguardian.com/film/2024/dec/09/keira-knightley-love-actually-quite-creepy-stalkerish-cue-cards

‘It is quite creepy’: Keira Knightley flagged ‘stalkerish’ aspects while shooting Love Actually

The actor has commented on the ‘creep factor’ of the cue cards scene in Richard Curtis’s festive romance film, in which she featured as a 17-year-old

I watched her Happy Mum, Happy Baby interview the other day. She came across as smart, funny, and realistic. Says she doesn't do social media at all, and mentioned a few times that her mum is a second wave feminist.

I strongly suspect she thinks it's all bollocks, but possibly isn't aware of the whole crazy trans circus because she's not online enough to see it.
