"Darlington Nurses" vs County Durham and Darlington NHS Trust Tribunal Thread

1000 replies

ThreeWordHarpy · 07/10/2025 19:20

Five nurses working at Darlington Memorial Hospital have filed a legal case suing their employer, an NHS trust, for sexual harassment and sex discrimination. The nurses object to sharing the women’s changing facilities with a male colleague, “Rose”, who:

  • identifies as female
  • has not undergone any physical or hormonal transition and has full male genitalia
  • has cited inclusivity policies
  • is backed by the trust’s HR department
  • has been granted access to a single-sex changing room for women.

The NHS trust’s HR department dismissed the nurses’ concerns, stating they should “broaden their mindset” and “be educated”. More details can be found at Sex Matters

The hearing is due to start on October 20th and is scheduled to last 3 weeks. To view the hearing online email: [email protected] [[email protected]] requesting remote access to the case of 2501192/2024 Hutchinson and others Vs County Durham and Darlington NHS Trust, starting 20th October. Also include your full name and your role in the hearing (eg member of the public or observer). Note, it is likely you will need the same full name and email address to log into the hearing, and the name will be visible to other observers.

The hearing will be live tweeted by https://x.com/tribunaltweets. An alternative to Twitter is to use Nitter: nitter.net/tribunaltweets or nitter.poast.org/tribunaltweets. Tribunal Tweets have more background to this case on their substack, including links to their coverage of the earlier hearings.

In earlier hearings reported at http://archive.today/nh5v9, the claimants were supported by the Christian Legal Centre and represented by Pavel Stroilov (solicitor) and Bruno Quentaville (barrister). The respondents were represented by Simon Cheetham KC. We do not know yet if the same representation will be in place for the October hearing

Background information from Christian Concern who are supporting the nurses via the CLC.

I actually really don't like that argument. People deceive themselves and others on all sorts of issues, and may also hold strong beliefs that I don't (eg religion) but I don't think it follows that they are inherently untrustworthy, unless there is also a pattern of untrustworthy behaviour.

The final thing BH said seems the most pertinent. The nurses' complaint led to his removal from the CR (and led to his public exposure), and that certainly gives him strong motivation to act against them now.

Its the need of public support for the lie rather than personal belief.

I wonder what the admonition to the witness was.

It'll be the usual thing about not discussing her evidence with anyone I should imagine

anyolddinosaur · 23/10/2025 11:45

witnesses are warned not to discuss the case during breaks.

lnks · 23/10/2025 11:45

Is anyone else back to WFTCHTJ?

CriticalCondition · 23/10/2025 11:46

Absolutely tip-top terfy witness. Clear, confident and unafraid to to say what she thinks of SC's allegations. Her genuine feeling and conviction is palpable but she's using it to give firm honest answers, not letting it run away with her.

Thanks, I thought it might be more related to her language around RH, glad if not.

I got an acceptance email, tried every browser etc, only have black screen no sound, read all instructions but after trying for a hour gave up.

When you try to join, you need to select observer and guest. Hope that helps. Chrome is the best browser.

"we had to go to kindness training because of this"

What the holy fuck is "kindness training"?

I think there are two separate issues. I certainly don't have to believe or act as though I believe a man when he says he's a woman. But it doesn't necessarily follow that everything else he says is also a lie.

ChimpanzeeThatMonkeyNews · 23/10/2025 11:52

I wonder when his kindness training session was held?🤨

ickky · 23/10/2025 11:52

I loved seeing Sandie and her mum in the audience. Great show of solidarity.

Yup. And it was 'rammed down their throats' all the time.
Kindness for thee but not for me.

I’m not sure if me being back to WFTCHTJ means I need to log out and then back in again. In past tribunals I haven’t been kicked out during breaks

I think it could be construed as overly hostile to RH. But that is an honest and natural reaction.

Yesterday we stayed WFTCHTJ and were let back in automatically.

SelfPortraitWithKetchup · 23/10/2025 11:55

There was a small exchange which didn't make it into TT that irritated me - when she was talking about the atmosphere of fear and not being allowed to speak, she said something like, "No one opposed to this is allowed to say anything" and the R's barrister said, "We're listening to you now." Yes, in an employment tribunal, you silly man.

Apart from that I quite like him, he's being perfectly polite and hasn't yet implied that they're bigots...

NebulousSupportPostcard · 23/10/2025 11:55

Why couldn't they just put it on YouTube like Allison B's?!

Is the background behind the witness making anyone else's eyes go funny?

CriticalCondition · 23/10/2025 11:58

Justme56 · 23/10/2025 11:51

What is ‘fully transitioned’? Does anyone fully transition?

Indeed. The billion dollar question. Or more accurately 'Can anyone fully transition ?'
Clue - the answer is no.

MyrtleLion · 23/10/2025 11:58

Justme56 · 23/10/2025 11:51

What is ‘fully transitioned’? Does anyone fully transition?

I would imagine hormones/breast implants and vaginoplasty where they chop off the cock and turn it inside out as a fake "neovagina". Where the patient has been on puberty blockers, the penis has not developed fully and a piece of bowel has been used as well. This can smell.

And for those who have developed a mature penis, the root is not fully removed, so the patient can still feel a morning erection but without the full penis.

So it's not an operation to be undergone lightly. I think the men who believe all trans identifying men have transitioned assume they've had their cocks chopped off and are therefore not a danger to women. If they realised a lot of them take hormones to grow breasts and then stop because they get a sexual thrill from being thought of as a woman, maybe they'd be more outraged on our behalf.
