Conservative conference gender session ‘curated hatred’ – Tory politician

Andrew Boff, who has been a Tory assembly member since 2008 and led the party in the body for three years, had shouted from the front row that the views being presented were “one sided” and the discussion had wrongly been billed as a “debate”.

Mr Boff, who wore a T-shirt which said “Trans Rights are Human Rights”, told the PA News agency afterwards: “It was curated hatred.”

The session, “The meaning of sex: Gender Critical Debate”, was chaired by shadow energy secretary Claire Coutinho.

In response to Mr Boff’s heckles Ms Davies said she would not apologise for defending the rights of women and girls.

'Bof', obviously pronounced 'boff', is a French word expressing dismissal or disinterest.

So "bof" to Boff.

I wish the article had actually covered what was said by the speakers!

It seems like Marion Calder had a word after the event. His first question was ‘How do you know what my sex is?’ What an idiot!

Because you’re a sexist and sanctimonious twat who enjoys heckling and disrupting an important conversation about women’s rights to centre yourself. That’s how I know you’re just another selfish man asking women to give up their rights for other selfish men.

The usual incoherent waffle with added stabby finger wagging from Mr Boff. Marion Calder calmly pointed out that it's necessary for their safety that women can and do distinguish between men and women in order to assess the risk of rape and violence. And that TWAM.

I believe Andrew Boff is gay, it's very simple "would he date and have sex with a trans man"?

MC tells him a gay man who has relationships with TM is not gay, he's bisexual. If you turn the sound up on the video you can hear his brain exploding with dissonance and fury.

Is it just me or is flying on the coat tails of trans as a way to signal to your "in" group what an astoundingly good & kind person you are, looking more and more cringe and desperate as the days go by...think it's all about "Free Free Palestine!" these days mate, did you not get the memo...

She answered him really well - just gave a straightforward answer explaining how she would judge his sex and why it was necessary for her to do so.

I think what is a real shame is that this one man has hijacked the event and no one is reflecting on what was said, let alone that there was such an event at the Conservative Party conference. Did Labour do anything similar?

Its one thing newspapers doing this, but not sure why most comments on here are about this.

Edit: I watched the clip after making that comment, but it just gets more ridiculous as he goes on about respecting how people identify. Why should we?

I frequently wonder if such males have any idea what they sound like.
After they open their mouths there is no need to look at them at all.

Really not interested in Boff, but more in how newspapers are reporting this. (ie everybody knows about him so deliberate mis reporting to focus on him not what was said.)

It is very interesting how human biology has been an issue in all the party conferences. Even the Tories supposedly more or less united was derailed by just one TA. Take a look at the threads for for more.

Interestingly the Labour conference thread which is the one with the most direct impact right now is the one people were least interested in. Obviously the Greens was the most crazy. However the most dramatic yet could be the Corbyn/Your Party first conference in November which could be wrecked by arguments over biology.

I've often made the same argument to posters who 'identify' as lesbians on threads, who claim men can be women, but they never acknowledge the point.

I think they handled Boff very well so he actually didn't manage to hijack the event.

However, although Calder and Davies are good speakers and obviously really know their stuff, they didn't really say anything newsworthy or controversial, so I can understand why any media reporting focused on Boff.

I thought his head would actually explode when Marion explained the basics of him being a bisexual if he would accept 'trans men' as a partner. It was astounding work. Well done Marion!

Exactly my thoughts. Sad, sad weird little man fighting against women for the interests of men.

Yes its always strange which threads take off and which dont.

But (and I know I keep saying this) but suspect that for whatever reasons posters are happier dealing with an outlet to say how stupid, nasty, dillusional or whatever TRAs are than a more nuanced (is that word?) discussion about how the TRA agenda fits into or sits on the MRA agenda, well actually world we live in.

I am sure you are right, but in terms of those who weren't there, and dont follow SM or YouTube the MSM have made it seem that a trans ally made and challenged horrible unkind women for speaking up for women's rights.

And of course the media are sheep, so because the first published story was all about this brave man, all the others followed that presentation.
