"Britain’s greatest female sailor has criticised a musical based on her life story after the cast members used their platform to stage a pro-trans fundraiser."

I'd say this was unbelievably rude but modern theatre types are a bunch of arseholes.

Wow Tracy Edwards is awesome! I'd never heard of her.

If the cast members couldn't stand making a musical about a feminist why didn't they just quit and let other actors have their roles? Or make a musical about someone else if it was all of them who had an issue?

As it is, they've somewhat used Tracy Edwards for her amazing courageous life story and then pointedly chosen to direct their internalised misogyny at her on the one night she attended.

So not just privileged but twisted too. Getting high on one's own self righteous belief in gender ideology really doesn't seem to make people kind.

The arts are screwed unfortunately because on the whole, ordinary people can no longer afford to work in them.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 15/08/2025 13:50

As ever, tedious actors using and abusing a real life hero and making themselves look inadequate and foolish.

But I am surprised that the mob haven't gone for them for taking part in a performance celebrating a brave terf?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 15/08/2025 13:51

So let me get this straight, they'll take the money for performing in this show, but then feel the need to perform a sneaky bit of virtue signalling at the end, just so they don't get bullied by the rest of their gang? So they only feel a little bit strongly about trans rights, but not so much when it comes to being in a show? Got it.

This. Someone is concerned about their CV.

But to wait until Tracey was in the audience so they could give her a public scolding, for points, is just nasty.

Helleofabore · 15/08/2025 14:07

Tracy Edwards is a legend. When will these activists learn to just say no to role rather than using the talents and stories of legendary women to make money while denouncing those same women.

Doesn’t the hypocrisy ever occur to them?

Edit to add- cross post!

WomaninBoots · 15/08/2025 14:07

What a bunch of shits. These fucking self-righteous wankers really get high off their own farts don't they?

lcakethereforeIam · 15/08/2025 14:11

I've heard Tracey Edwards speaking up about this before, she's very courageous. I'm glad it seems profits will generally be going to her charity.

There was a company making a Harry Potter game recently who pledged to give their profits to trans probably after threats and criticisms. Honestly, it's like a shakedown.

Of course there's also the actors in the new HP show taking the JKR Galleon then piously trotting out the tra lines. As though that doesn't make them massive hypocrits.

NPET · 15/08/2025 14:13

So unfair what happened.
But it looks as if good has come out of "Ms" Edwards complaining.

EmpressaurusKitty · 15/08/2025 14:21

What an utterly shit thing to do.

Tracy Edwards’s charity The Maiden Factor is also campaigning for women & girls in Afghanistan, & she spoke at the recent WRN vigil for Afghan women & girls in Parliament Square. This lot should be utterly ashamed of themselves.

BundleBoogie · 15/08/2025 14:33

Tracey is an absolute star and those idiots on the stage are nasty little hypocrites. Maybe they’ll grow up one day.

GailBlancheViola · 15/08/2025 14:45

Nasty, misogynist bullies.

She's a fucking mensch. She deserves better than this.

I had no idea. I’m going over to her website to see and hopefully donate.

TheSandgroper · 15/08/2025 15:27

I’m old. I remember her voyage and I’m not British. And I’m not a sailor. I remember going to the Maritime Museum in Cornwall and her boat was bobbing there. Oh, I was so excited just seeing it, I was beside myself.

IwantToRetire · 15/08/2025 17:03

I am outraged! Loathsome parasites.

Cant she sue?

I am sure if needed JKR would fund, because if she won the case it was set a precedent and maybe stop all the trans leaches from going on doing this.

I dont even care about sailing (she must be very brave) but this is disgusting.

Is there an online theatre review website.

If so we should go an post reviews about being tricked into watching something that is a lie.

Theswiveleyeballsinthesky · 15/08/2025 18:09

I would love for these virtue signalling support wombats to be made to stand in front of Tracy one at a time and explain to her why they thought it was fine to denigrate everything she stands for in a public place

I wonder if that is what's happened, though? I can imagine somebody has seen fit to 'call them out' for being terf adjacent, and they've responded with this craven performative pish.

Wouldn't be surprised. We know that transactivists spend much of their time (when not on here seething about women 😄) poring over women's lives looking for more witches to burn.

I hadn't heard of Tracy Edwards, so thank you for that.

Opinionpolecat · 15/08/2025 21:08

There’s a film called Maiden, which is about her voyage. It’s a great watch, really inspiring. It’s good to know she has a charity doing good work so I can make a donation!

I knew she was a great yachtswoman, delighted to find she’s even more than that. Thanks for the link!

Hopefully the net result of the incredibly rude and inappropriate actions of the cast of the show will result in more publicity and donations for charity.
