Some readers may recall Katie Neeves' training webcast session that was leaked a few years ago. This is the story of the subsequent fallout.

It seems Katie Neeves' friendship with the head of CIPD may have been the cause for a serious institutional capture, leading to persecution and hounding of women who objected to being exposed to Neeves' training session, which was at best highly inappropriate for a professional setting, at worst, deliberately involving unwilling women in a fetish.

Neeves did a webcast for CIPD professionals in 2022, in which he talked about stealing and wearing his sister's underwear. Many women objected.

The webcast was recorded and excerpts broadcast - there were threads on here at the time.

The CIPD then referred this to the police, and women were reprimanded and threatened.

The article goes on to question whether the CIPD is fulfilling its role properly and what needs to change.

I've heard so many theories over the years, but I will never quite understand how creepy people like Neeves got taken so seriously by supposedly intelligent people running the organisations that run our society.

As a pp said, Neeves literally makes my skin crawl, and I challenge most of the #bekind airheads to share a changing room with males like that.

I think a lot of it might be down to laziness as much as anything. If anyone wants to volunteer to do something or proactively comes forward to give a training session then laziness of companies, corporations, institutions etc means they can't be bothered to properly check out the person offering. They can't be bothered to check their agenda. Bonus points if the person seems to be offering something "progressive" an organisation can latch on to tick some boxes.

Sometimes, maybe, but in this instance it seems the head chap at the CIPD is pals with Katie Neeves.

And Neeves has been hired.

It's shocking the amount of deals that get done, hires that happen as a result of a friendship. And people don't turn a hair. Related to this issue or not.

Hard to imagine being 'pals' with this person. Creepyness personified.

Neeves is also still running his photography business on the side, which retains his business name of Martin Neeves. He helpfully includes a potted biography with photos of himself as a child, adolescent and young man. No idea whether he was married or had children as funnily he’s omitted to mention that.

There is, however, a massive blog detailing every tiny step on his momentous 'jourmeeee' to womanhood. Blimey, it’s self-absorbed. The AI summary that pops up at the top of searches isn’t far wrong when it says 'Martin Neeves is married to Katie Neeves'.

Oh that last paragraph needs the late lamented laugh emoji.

My company is too small to waste time on such bollocks, but I sometimes wonder what I'd do if there was a compulsory presentation and it turned out to be something like this.

When he starts wibbling about "assigned at birth" being the correct description, not "born a boy/girl", perhaps I'd roll my eyes. If I had to listen to the underwear part, I'd probably stand up and say that I didn't come to work to listen to men talking gleefully about stealing girls' underwear, and then I'd walk out.

Well, I might or I might not, I just don't know, but I'm old and crabby and sometimes what I think just comes out of my mouth; I'm also near enough to retirement to risk my job.

Agree, especially that vague 'progressive' vibey do-gooding driver. But we have seen people like that Canadian teacher with the giant p0rno tits, the Girl Guides volunteer with the fetish gear and guns, Pips Bunce and so on and so on (add your own faves!) Why do they get so much airtime compared to absolutely anyone else?

Great article! I’m hoping CIPD and Neeves will both address this, would be great to know what they have to say about it. I suppose it is in both their interests to hush it up as much as possible.
