NHS Fife tries to silence nurse - Sandie Peggie vs NHS Fife Health Board and Dr Beth Upton - thread #11

Sandie Peggie, a nurse at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy (VH), has brought claims in the employment tribunal against her employer; Fife Health Board (the Board) and another employee, Dr B Upton. Ms Peggie’s claims are of sexual harassment, harassment related to a protected belief, indirect discrimination and victimisation. Dr Upton claims to be a transwoman, that is observed as male at birth but asserting a female gender identity.

The Employment Tribunal hearing started on Monday 3 February 2025 and was expected to continue for 2 weeks although at the start of the second week getting everything done in this time period was looking less certain. The hearing commenced with Sandie Peggie giving evidence. Dr Beth Upton started giving evidence on Thursday 6 February.

Access to view the hearing remotely can be obtained by sending an email request to [email protected] headed Public Access Request (Peggie v Fife Health Board) 4104864/2024 and requesting access.

The hearing is being live tweeted by https://x.com/tribunaltweets and there's additional information here: https://tribunaltweets.substack.com/p/peggie-vs-fife-health-board-and-dr. NC - raising issue of BU supporters sitting with view of her screen, asking them to move.

Judge agrees.

ickky · 11/02/2025 09:53

NC wants some observers to move as they can see her screen, supporters of DU.

ILikeDungs · 11/02/2025 09:53

TRAs intimidating NC?

myplace · 11/02/2025 09:54

@ZeldaFighter and @GiveMeSpanakopita the photo with the earrings has apps been photoshopped.

It’s also best to leave his wife out of it, as we know nothing about her situation.

lifeturnsonadime · 11/02/2025 09:54

Anyone else got issues with sound?

nauticant · 11/02/2025 09:54

The sound's crap but I can hear it.

NC - questions to finish yesterdays' topic.

Would you agree that women with a history of sex trauma aren't defined by that history

BU - don't think anybody is defined by their trauma irrespective of gender or GI

Swashbuckled · 11/02/2025 09:54

Interesting re asking his supporters to move as they have been able to read her screen…

cascade31 · 11/02/2025 09:55

did anyone have recording enabled written on their screen? I am using my sons computer and was terrified the computer was recording it, so logged out straight away.

Appalonia · 11/02/2025 09:55

Again, totally unable to answer a straight question!

With regard to the brilliant poem share in the last thread, what a phenomenal bit of writing. Having just searched R Irischild I've seen it dates to 2017. Some of you have been fighting this for so long, I feel embarrassed to have taken so long to wake up to it. It was New Years Day 2023 that I saw what was right under my nose.

I'm the one who shared it - and I find it so moving that I'm going to share it again in case anyone missed it. It is SO pertinent.

he tells her (after Wendy Cope)

He tells her he's a woman too
He has a ladybrain
He tells her his identity
and hers; they are the same
He tells her not to talk about
her body; it's not fair
her body is her privilege
his own, a cross to bear

He tells her that she cannot talk
Or otherwise allude
to what her female body does
It's nasty to exclude
He says respect diversity
except he would prefer
that she would not point out the ways
that he's diverse from her

He tells her that biology
does not impact her life
she should still bear his children
but she must call him 'wife'
He says that words must all evolve
She must learn to make do
And now that woman is his word
He's taking 'female' too

He tells her that a woman is
whatever he decides
He will not put it into words
She must not ask, he chides
He tells her he is more oppressed
Than she has ever been
He says she must agree with him
or else she's being mean

She searches for the words she needs
To talk about herself
The billions who exist like her
their lives, their rights, their health
Whatever word she chooses now
He finds a way to spin it
The conversation carries on

But she's no longer in it

-R Irischild

I had no issues at all logging in until today, but I have a black screen and no sound even though I can see the sidebar and names/chat.

nauticant · 11/02/2025 09:55

It's a hearing thing and nothing to do with your machine cascade31.

OMG

ArabellaScott · 11/02/2025 09:56

NC - women in that category may need forensic exams, rape crisis, specialist counselling, but they are also human beings, who work, use public transport, need ordinary medical services, yes?

BU - anybody who experiences SA or trauma may require forensic services and also live otherwise fulfilling and varied lives

NC - that was long, boiled down to yes?

BU - no

Judge says witnes can answer how he pleases

NC mentions time

Judge - I can't dicatate how witness can answer qu

JR - whoolly irrelevant topics

Judge'- let's move on

Lunde · 11/02/2025 09:56

No Tribunal Tweets on Nitter?

ArabellaScott · 11/02/2025 09:56

NC - you believe some patients read you as female, Dr U, without realisign youre a transwoman

BU - yes, demonstrated by how the speak to me, they read me correctly as female, as a woman

BunfightBetty · 11/02/2025 09:57

I've requested access today and got an email, but clicking on the 'open guest page' link isn't getting me anywhere. Nothing happens...

Does anyone have any tips?

I'm on a Mac, if that makes any difference.
