'Mum of "traumatised" teen who found hidden camera filming naked girls in Dundee school blasts unisex toilets'

I hope the girls affected have good support.

And the idiots who pushed this on them understand their culpability.

'"My daughter told me that she looked at the camera roll and there were hundreds of videos and images of girls naked in changing rooms and using the toilet.
"I got her home from school that afternoon and she was extremely traumatised by it all. She has been in a state since then and is completely refusing to go back to school."
The school has unisex toilets and Emma has now slammed Dundee City Council over a lack of single-sex sanitary facilities, which she believes is putting young girls at risk.
She continued: "School is meant to be the one place where we can send our children and know that they are safe but where is the safeguarding when this can happen?
"If it wasn't for the mixed toilets then this just would never have happened.
"This is something that a lot of parents have been concerned about for a number of years and since I spoke out about what happened to my daughter, loads of people have come forward and agreed that unisex toilets are huge issue.
"This boy would simply not have had access to the girls toilets otherwise.
"I will be looking for assurances from the council that they are going to do something to make sure our children are safe before I even consider sending my daughter back to that school."
Emma said she has contacted the council, but it has refused to discuss the matter further with her due to it being a live police investigation.'

Police are investigating after a camera was discovered at a high school in the city earlier this week.

'Equality campaigners have welcomed a Scottish Government proposal to introduce unisex lavatories in Scottish schools in an attempt to address gender issues.
James Morton of the Equality Network said gender neutral lavatories reduced bullying and graffiti and were safer for young people.'

Completely predictable. Every day there seems to be another disclosure of girls and women being harmed by the lack of safeguarding in Scottish schools and wider society 😞

floormops · 20/12/2024 11:49

Well what a surprise. Not. Those poor girls- nobody cares about their rights.

ArabellaScott · 20/12/2024 11:51

Thankfully it's not all schools. Our school have been robust and sensible on single sex facilities, always.

Those who have gone along with it are going to have to fix it. Now. And there needs to be a hard look at who pushed this, why, and why anyone went along with it.

Very sad and clear reason for the need for single sex loos. Also an example of the bad actions of (probably) one boy harming numerous girls.

AmandaHoldensLips · 20/12/2024 11:57

One boy? I think not. There would have been complicity and sharing going on. Girls need protecting from boys.

ArabellaScott · 20/12/2024 12:00

In terms of single sex facilities, even if it is only one boy, it's a very good illustration of why that assertion that 'a tiny minority' is a fallacy. One male in female facilities is capable of affecting many, many females.

All these flaming activists who think themselves as being so morally superior to the awful TERFs who are so backwards wanting single-sex toilets, changing rooms, etc.

I am so fed up of them. Once again, the TERFs were right and it was completely predicatable. Those poor girls.

Glamourreader · 20/12/2024 12:22

Horrendous and utterly predictable

Hope the schools are sued

duc748 · 20/12/2024 12:30

From Arabella's link:

...Indeed, we all use gender neutral toilets every day without thinking about it - on planes, trains, and most importantly - in our homes.”

Yes, it seems, people really have been using this brain-dead argument since 2017! 🙄Either we have a complete lack of critical thinking here, or, something worse.

Igmum · 20/12/2024 12:34

Those poor girls - and yes totally predictable. The school should be liable as should all of the idiots who encouraged this.

greyspring · 20/12/2024 12:41

Gosh, given the widespread acknowledgement of sexual harassment of girls in schools by boys, who could have possibly foresaw that this could happen as a result of giving boys access to places what used to be private spaces for girls?

I am so fucking sick of our utterly thick, thick, thick decision makers and so-called leaders with their callous disregard of girls and women. They couldn't think their way across a pedestrian crossing.

ArabellaScott · 20/12/2024 12:43

We were browbeaten and manipulated and threatened into accepting the bullshit narrative that including males in women's single sex facilities and spaces was best for everyone.

That's how it happened. Critical thinking was branded bigotry. Women who raised concerns were called transphobic, homophobic, and 'probably racist'.

If you can convince people that it's possible to change sex, you really can convince them of absolutely anything.

Well, quite. I was surprised and concerned to read, for instance, in the Guardian this morning that Nancy Mace is, apparently, as bad as Southern lynch mobs and worse than a thousand George Wallaces. Gee, thanks for putting me right on that one, Graun!

There was never an argument it was best for everyone. There was an argument that it was best for the poor sad men, and an argument that what they wanted mattered more than what any girl or woman. Any girl or woman who disagreed was a hateful bigot as she had failed to agree that the poor sad man was the more important than her.

You can't possibly have been surprised to read that in the Guardian.

I could say the same back to you.

It was a joke.

littlbrowndog · 20/12/2024 12:57

What a surprise arabella. Or not

these poor girls

Grammarnut · 20/12/2024 12:58

And now Labour have given the green light to captured businesses to allow men who say they are women to use women's single sex facilities!!!

Yes, I think it was quite clear that Labour intended to pass the responsibility on to third parties, rather than issue clear guidance themselves. That way it will be organisation and businesses left to fight court cases, whilst Labour washes its hands altogether.

You were right all along, it's only best for creeps and perverts. I'll bet the farm that it'll be:

"Blah blah, how terrible, it's just a one off, very rare. We'll continue with our push to continue changing all school toilets to unisex."

I am not sure it's legal. Don't schools have to provide sex segregated toilets for children over the age of 8?
Oh, I forgot. Obviously transgirls have always been girls, so it's ok. Crap lot.

There's now a lot of evidence that the demands to remove privacy and safety from girls and women is being led by some very dangerous men. This thread about Safe Schools Alliance in a meeting with the DfE mentions one very relevant issue that the DfE seem clueless about. All the evidence shows this also applies in Scotland:

"We have seen too many incidents of people working in leadership roles in LGBT+ organisations have been found to be predatory. The application of Safer Recruitment would have ensured these people were not allowed access to children, or to write materials for schools or to influence policy".
